Hope everyone enjoys there new machines as they come in. -
Very Disappointed at this point. The latest my laptop should've shipped was yesterday to get here within the 3/14/13 EDD. I called Customer Service and they told me that both the email I got and the telephone system were wrong in stating that my order shipped on Monday and that it hasn't actually shipped yet.
Majorly upset by this as I have to keep people waiting up for it. I work first shift, my dad works third. He's supposed to be in bed, but he's been waiting up on this laptop now for days.
I wonder if it will ever come? I expected much more... and I have been hopeful, but at this point I'm really just livid. I feel lied to and now my laptop is God knows where, sitting somewhere - when it should be en route.
Don't expect to get your laptops on time friends.
-
Aryah,
It should run Battlefield/Black Ops just fine. What video card did you get? -
This bites. Wonder how this is going to cause mine to be delayed.

I'm really not sure. I am on the Member Purchase Program, and what I really hate is that I get transferred to India for assistance. (How do I know that it's India? The CSR's tagline in their emails! )
The India reps are both rude and unresponsive. They give insincere apologies. I'm really angry at the moment. You know- you call a company as big as Dell- and they give you the American Customer Service first, which is awesome, but then because you are in the Member Purchase Program, they transfer you to India.... who knows nothing about anything. Grrrr........
-
It will, the 7970m will give you a solid +60FPS gameplay on most of the latest games. (Might just need some tweaking for farcry3 and crysis3)
Congratulations and welcome to the club
Check your Order Status and see if your laptop's EDD has been updated. If it hasn't send me a PM with your order number and I'll see what I can find. -
Thank you for helping Luis!
-
Okay peeps,
There was an LCD hinge shortage per Luis.
All is resolved now.
Others who are waiting, just be patient. May be an extra day or two.
-
Its a RADEON HD7970M graphic card and thanks im glad to be in the club !!
-
I think you'll be very happy with your 7970M
I'm an Intel girl personally, but I'm hearing that AMD is making big waves!
Have fun, - the hardest part is the wait!
-
Thanks
yes wait time is forever haha, cant wait to get it

Order made 13/03
EDD IS 29/03 --" -
~******Update******~
Sooooooo -------- I got a tracking number today. My EDD was moved from 3/14(today) to 3/16...BUT- when I checked the tracking #, FedEx already has my package on their truck for delivery in my hometown!
I will have my computer today, which was the originally scheduled EDD and I am now back to being a happy camper!!!
Again, thanks to Alienware- Luis Pardo for keeping me up to speed!
-
Mine was ordered on the 03/08/2013 and EDD is 03/22/2013 with no updates and still in production. I hope it goes as scheduled.
-
Been patiently waiting since I ordered on 03/03 with an EDD of 03/18, and still haven't got a shipping notice. Judging from past posts... is this pretty normal? I'm in Canada and can't use the order status over the phone as that is a US option only and my laptop is still "in production" as of right now.
-
Thank you for the welcome!
I know that I'm replying super late, sorry!!
I can't wait to get my laptop! One thing though; I got an email notification telling me that my laptop has shipped, but when I click on the link to track it, it takes me to the Dell order details page, and it says that it is still in Production? Is this normal or ...?
-
Me too dude. My m17x edd date is on 22/3. Hoping it will arrive sooner. It is very terrible to live without computer a day, since my dell xps 15z brokedown last week.
-
Omg i am so jealous rite now!!
wish you all the best. Please do me a video of ur AW unboxing.
-
Yes. It was normal with me. I received a shipping notice, but I didn't get a tracking # until two days later.
It should be shipping soon!
-
-
Leishman,
They are notoriously late with the shipping notices. Not to worry. Mine still arrived on the EDD, even with all the problems I thought they were having.
-
That's the whole reason I was able to purchase a new laptop. My Dell Studio 17 broke down on me. I'm sure it's fixable, but it's sometimes better just to replace. At least with my AW, I would be comfortable just upgrading components for many years, vs purchasing a new system.
You can only update the studio model so much.
-
Hahaha, same to me. Mine is just minor problem wif my xps. Will repair my xps after few months of gaming in AW. 22/3 is very long. I cant take that out of my brain lol. Well what i like abt m17x is upgradable in every aspect. Pls update me more with ur laptop.

Hey everybody! I'm new here and new to Alienware.
I ordered the M17X on March 4 with 7970M, base everything except I upgraded to the Killer Wi-Fi card.
I'm planning on ordering a pair of Samsung 840 Pro 256GB to replace the 500GB HardDrive.
Anyway I am anxiously awaiting some type of status on the Laptop (EDD March 19th). I received an e-mail on March 11th telling me it had shipped, but sadly they provided no tracking number and the website still says "In Production". The CS chat people said the email was sent in error. I'm surprised after all these years of selling computers they still can't get shipping e-mails right. Oh well.
I'm just glad to see the ones who have actually received theirs are happy and I hope everyone waiting gets theirs soon! -
Hah and just as I posted this it changed from In Production to Shipped on the website
Still waiting on the tracking number. -
What would you like to know? It's maxed out.
I opted for the middle-of-the-road LCD screen (no 3D.) FHD WLED screen, 32 GB RAM, 256 SSD + 1 TB HDD , Intel i7-3840QM processor, BluRay, Killer Wireless, nVidia 680M graphics card, the whole 9 yards.
I'll be using it for my photography work and also for school. (I'm a Junior in college. )

Question everyone. I ordered on 03/08/2013 this machine below and been waiting for a while and sad I didn't get the 680. For really not much more I could get the one at Costco if it's an R4 if people think it is? But how does the Costco warranty work if anyone knows? I heard they give you 2 years instead of 1, but is that through Dell? What do you guys think? I have an SSD and 16gb of ram going into it so I didn't worry about that part.

The $1699 is a really good deal. It's got good drivers. Unfortunately there isn't a CostCo where I live. Can you just go in to view the box? If you or the salesperson view the box, it will say whether or not it's an R2, R3, or R4. Based on the pictures, it's an R2. However- would that be a bad thing if it is an R2 if it has more than what you are looking for? Keep in mind these Alienware machines can be upgraded for at least 6-7 years....
You need to make sure that they are not selling Refurbished Alienwares. ALSO- CostCo just got in trouble by the Tiffany company for selling fake Tiffany jewelry. Your best bet would be to look at the actual box. (The retailer WILL show you. ) -
They don't carry them actually in the stores. Only available for online ordering. And I talked to them and basically for tech / warranty issues you call Costco first then they route you to Dell. Hmmm...
-
its definitely either an r3 or an r4 and based on the fact that it has a 3630 CPU I'd say it's an r4.
-
Cancelled my order yesterday, because of changes, Finally I took the Killer 1103 wi-fi card ! Don't know what's the big difference between the stock one and this one, but I know alot of people have it and it look pretty nessacary since I will only be playing online games. Because of a good rep, The EDD is 01/04 instead of 29/03, but I had the wi-fi card for free
!
So basically my Alienware is :
500 GB 7200 RPM
RADEON HD 7970M
KILLER 1103 WI-FI CARD
8GB RAM
1920x1080p FULL HD
Cant wait to get it April first
-
I hope u dont get april fooled by them. Lol!
-
Okay not sure what is going on but I got an email overnight that said my laptop shipped but the web page says it is still in production and I can't get a tracking number!! Any ideas what I can do?
Sent from my New iPad using Tapatalk HDokay -
Do they manufacture AW during weekends also?
-
Depends from country I think because in The Netherlands they work in Saturday.
-
-
Got the email on Friday that went to shipped but the site still today says in production and the dell rep said it is still there. I contacted Luis and he never responded on here. Great help he was. Lol
Sent from my New iPad using Tapatalk HD -
Same thing happened to me. It didn't ship until 4 days after receiving the e-mail and I was notified of the tracking number until the day it arrived and Dell support got back to me after receiving it to tell me I had received it
It was worth the wait though! Now I kind of wish I checked the Costco site first, that seems like a killer deal. -
Taking so longs for my laptop to arrive, first april, --" Cant wait to receive it !!
-
Ugh website still not updated after 4 days of getting shipped email. No response from dell here on this site. Starting to hate the poor support from dell reps here.
Sent from my New iPad using Tapatalk HD -
Mine says it will arrive next friday. Maybe it comes earlier?
-
Mine says tomorrow, but no tracking, no status updates and Dell themselves when I call can't give me an update. Ridculous.
-
Does it say it is shipped? Mine also getting delivered by tomorrow. I hope they will, bcoz weekends are closed for delivery company. Fingerscrossed
-
Hmm I hope all your guys get your laptop soon. Mine took a while, and I didnt get tracking info until it left the factory in china. My EDD dissapeared when it was dispatched though. I'd contact dell see if they know its left the factory or not tbh.
-
It never said shipped. Production. But 30 minutes ago it just went to shipped and it was shipped yesterday.
So it will be here tomorrow per the tracking #. Woot!
-
My laptop has shipped too.
-
Mine still says in production
-
Thanks to todays UK weather, UPS stopped my shipment and will deliver on monday :-(
-
Ordered an Alienware M17x on the 14th.
i7 3840
7970M
16GB RAM (soon to be 32)
Blue ray
128GB SSD with 750 GB 7200 rpm HDD
So after waiting an interminable about of time for my status to change from "in production" to something else, I received an email stating that my laptop has been shipped. Problem is, the status on the website is unchanging. So I fired up the chat app and spoke with a rep, and he simply told me that it's in production and will arrive on or before the 28th of March. Huh?
So my question is this: How can I receive and email stating that my laptop has been shipped and the customer support people not know anything about it? And with respect to the email, does that mean it has actually shipped, or does that mean that it has departed the manufacturing facility? And once I do receive the aforementioned email, how long does it really take for me to get the laptop if I am getting second day delivery?
Anyone on here have experience with that?
I'm not frustrated. I mean, I would like to receive my laptop sooner than the 28th date, but I'm a little confused about the email.
