Just got mine! It seems that Dell takes an additional 5 days after you get the shipped email to actually ship it. So just wait.
-
-
I believe what is happening is as soon as the shipment facility generates a shipment label the email is also generated. However, the website and customer service system won't say shipped until the tracking number is available AND there is data available for said tracking number. If you ever noticed getting something from amazon or somewhere else where they give you a tracking number right away but it takes a day or two for UPS' or FedEx's website to actually show anything. So it could be a day or two for the shipment company to get it and then a day or two for data to actually be available.
-
Mine is apparently suppose to come this friday but online it still says in production and no shipping email yet.
-
-
Dell marks it shipped once it leaves their depot area and takes 5 days to take a trolly (they call it) to the shipment center. Then it gets shipped.
Mine was shipped exactly 2 days before the EDD and it was marked for 2 day air delivery. So I got it on the day I was supposed to get it on. FEDEx or UPS will show it immediately as soon as they print that shipping label and it's entered into their system. -
-
My thing says march 29th it will be delivered. Though I was hoping it came earlier since I've read a lot of people get them earlier.
-
-
Mine stills say in production after 8 days and no shipping email either.
-
Ordered the March 15, EDD set to April 1st. Still say in production. Can't wait to get My M17X !
-
Mine stills say in production but EDD is still set at this Friday. I don't see how it could possibly get here by Friday.

Sorry for double post !! But My order Got shipped Today !!!
Shipped On: 26/03/2013

So mine is apparently shipping tomorrow so I guess it is still on time to get here by friday since 2 day shipping
EDIT: Got shipping email this morning for delivery tomorrow. -
What on earth. Ordered a m17x r4 from the outlet store on Tuesday night. EDD of 4/1. Checked this morning, it's now "in production" with an edd date of 4/8. What gives? Aren't outlet pcs already "produced". That's why I ordered, to get it quickly.

Hi all,
A potential new AW owner here
I ordered my new m17x through a Dell rep yesterday after which I received an Order Acknowedgement email. That email states that I should receive an Order Confirmation email with tracking info so I can monitor the status of my build, once payment is received.
I made the payment when ordering with the rep who confirmed that my payment had gone through and is 'blocked'/reserved on my card. apparently, payment is only taken when it has been built and ready to ship.
Given I gave them my card details and the payment is successfully blocked on my card, should I not have received an Order Confirmation email by now ?
Thanks for your help. Can't wait to get this. At the moment, I just want to be able to monitor it ! -
for a limited time- alienware is offering free processor upgrades. Please take advantage of this offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
-
That's too bad, I just ordered my M17X last Friday so no upgrade for me
I usually build my own desktops, however, this time I decided a laptop better fit my life so I decided to go with Alienware. Can't wait to get my new machine.
The wait is killing me though, still another 12 days per EDD. -
Any feedback from anyone who has ordered through a rep over the phone ?
Is this typical ? -
-
Thanks Shobby.
I am interested in the time between Order Acknowledgement and Order Confirmation emails -
-
I don't have an order no.
All I have in the acknowledgement email is a customer number and a booking reference.
The booking reference no. won't work on the Dell Status page as an order number -
-
Thanks.
I have managed to get it to work now. I was trying different combinations of the information asked for until I found my order.
It looks like it is in Pre-Production
On the downside, the EDD is 12 days away -
-
When I call the Alienware 800 number and use the automated order status check it says 'In Processing', but online says 'In Production'. Does anyone know if there is a difference between the two? In Processing sounds almost like my order is still being processed and not being built. I'm still 11 days away from my EDD so I'm not that concerned, but am curious what the difference is.

Just got my shipping notification email.

1920x1080 WLED screen
i7 3740QM
GTX 680M
8Gb RAM
500Gb Hard Drive
BluRay Combo
Killer-N Wireless
I ordered last Wednesday afternoon, 3 April.
The Order was in Pre-Production until late Friday when I last checked.
I then checked again yesterday (Monday 8 April) and it was showing as Shipped !
It must have been built over the weekend I guess.
It is now in South Korea (I hope Kim Jong-Un holds off any military action for 24 hours) having left Shanghai yesterday.
It is due for delivery tomorrow !
That is exactly 7 calendar days from order to delivery - pretty impressive
Can't wait to take delivery now -
, you almost ended up buying a Clevo/Sager too...
-
I saw the Schenker Clevos at the Gadget Show over the weekend and to be honest, it wasn't a bad looking machine and better quality than I thought it would be. They had a stand right next to the Alienware stand. Shenker were running Crysis 3 on their machines but Alienware was just using them for a competition entry so couldn't compare performance.
I would say though that the Clevo matte screen was quite nice. -
Just received the tracking number (Finally). Apparently I got the infamous, your package has shipped sometime in the future, email last week. As of now it's scheduled for delivery for tomorrow the 11th per FedEx. Ordered on the 29th, shipped the 9th, delivery scheduled for the 11th.

Some photos and an unboxing video are on their way -
I hope to post photos soon and maybe a video of it working

In addition to the video, here are some photos of the beast:
Also, I ran some benchmarks just using standard config, no overclocking or even checking for updated drivers, out of the box performance. Temps were 64 deg Celsius throughout the benchamrks
HEAVEN 4.0
3D MARK II
Not sure why it is showing an unapproved driver as it is stock, out of the box. -

Nearly stock stats from Unigine Heaven 4.0 + CPUZ + Nvidia Control Panel:
If you don't want to expand that, the Unigine Heaven 4.0 score was 929 with FPS at 36.9. Temps topped at 64^C with ambient at 74^F. See Super-Spy's post on the previous page for Unigine settings since I copied his/hers for comparability. All hardware specs match what Costco lists. Ignore the GPU Type and CPU Freq from CPUZ since I was idling on the desktop. The only change I've done from bone stock was using Intel RST migration to Raid 0 on the stock hard drives and all Windows Updates.
Overall impression (not a full review since I agree with all other users):
Now I know what a quality laptop should be.
Sound from the laptop speakers is above average for a laptop, with above average sound stage separation using default THX settings. I tested hip-hop, house, indie-rock, and classical; above average highs, mids, and lows, especially for laptop speakers.
Sound from the headphone port on default settings with Sony MDR-V7000's is not great. I tried setting the output to headphones with all available sound processing switched on and off at least once.
Turning off all sound processing effects--especially the THX processing--improved the headphone sound immensely. There is a lot of sound manipulation and it shows. This is just my opinion so obviously individual opinions may vary.
The keyboard is nice with minimal chassis flex, but it still takes some getting used to since I use a mechanical keyboard--CM Storm with Cherry Red switches--on my desktop. The back-lit borders on each key is a nice touch as well as the fact that the touch-pad border will turn off when the touch-pad itself is disabled.
The screen is great although I despise reflective screens. I turned down the brightness from default settings with two function key taps and it was perfect for my eyes. 1080p is a great resolution for dual window users and with a 17.3" frame, there is little to no strain on my eyes.
The laptop is raid capable, but not activated when you first receive the laptop. Switching to Intel RST Raid 0 was a decent improvement, but it still can't compete against an SSD. If you don't have the budget to drop in an SSD after buying the laptop, at least activate Raid 0 since the improvement is there. I chose the Intel RST raid migration since it keeps all existing data. Beware though, the program takes between 3-4 hours. After it finishes, don't forget to go into Microsoft Disk Management and increase the volume size to the full 1TB.Attached Files:

any chances i can get m17 for around 1300, please let me know if u find any deals, im low in money

Well the wait is killing me here. I'd been looking around the net at various models - the Lenovo Y500 had been top of my list as it seemed to represent value for money. But I'd been keeping one eye on the Dell outlet
Late one evening a machine popped up and in my haste to grab it, I never gave a thought to delivery times etc. I just assumed anything on the outlet was built and ready to go
I am sat like a big kid waiting for Christmas day but it still says "in production" (order was placed on the 30th April) and delivery estimated at 8th May - which seems like an age away
Is there anyway to view the specs of what I've ordered while I wait? I did get an email, but it doesn't completely cover everything that was listed for my machine. I figured checking my order status with Dell would show me what I was buying, but rather oddly, it doesn't? -
-
Got a couple of questions for U.K folk here who have ordered from the outlet please.
I take it Dell don't work at all over the weekend?
And when they send you a dispatch email, is delivery the next working day?
I ask because as of today, my order is still "in production" but with an estimated delivery of 8th May which is Wed. But it's bank holiday here on Monday so they'd need to get it out of production on Tues and then to me next day. Which sounds unlikely.
edit: first and last time I use Dell. Support is bordering on non existent. My machine has now been sat at some facility for a day and a half, and consequently my ETA has moved from the 9th to the 13th May with no explanation at all.
I have had no email correspondence to inform me of shipping, and the tracking link they gave me doesn't work so I had to call them to provide me with an alternative link. All in all rather shoddy. I dread if anything is wrong and I need to contact them again. Fingers crossed it is fine.
I'd planned to be around for Wed but it will all be last minute if I don't hear anything until Tues should I need to change the day I'm home for delivery. Thanks. -
