You have to post 10 quality posts I think it was before you get access to the stuff you are searching for.
Also your GPU fans and stuff are fine. The game doesn't fully support Crossfire properly yet. We are waiting for a new GPU driver and CAP profile + the game patch as well.
Oh my bad you have Nvidia 285s ey koolos.
Okay Umm yeh I don't think Nvidia has even released any new drivers or SLi profiles to support the game yet. They will most likely soon though. The game patch shouldn't be to far off as well. I've actually nearly finished the campaigin LOL. Couldn't resist and wait for the patch eeheheh!![]()

Thank you Reborn.
If anyone can walk me threw how to get both my 285s firing in this game it would be greatly appreciated! (assuming i'll just have to wait for the patch tho....) -
Its going to take an updated SLI profile from NVIDIA. Suggest waiting for the next NV driver update or watching for a SLI profile installer update on NV's site:
NVIDIA DRIVERS SLI PROFILE UPDATE 6
Not sure if this will work, you can try renaming the .exe to the same as MW2's .exe. This might trick the driver into using the same SLI profile - cant imagine it being much different but then again I cannot test this.
There is a 3rd party app for NV profiles (cant remember the name) - this might work as well since it allows you to manually configure the profile. If you are not familiar with it, suggest just waiting for NV to update. Not worth the trouble. -

Just tried Black Ops in 3d Vision..
Was fun to see the graphics...
But crosshair really sucks..
Its in 2d and rest in 3d.
So it was hard to shift the eye sight. -
Most of the tweaks we already know about but heres just an article about them.

According to RadeonPro's FPS meter at the top left, I am getting 60 FPS minimum and 90 FPS most of the time. Either the meter is a lie or I can see more than 100 FPS
EDIT: Gonna try and fiddle with some of rendering techniques for Black Ops MP. I'll report back
EDIT 2: Disabling V-sync seems to have really helped the stutter quite a lot. 16x AA and x3 Temporal AA.
EDIT 3: Does Black Ops use DX9 only? I keep getting a pop up saying Directx 9. -
Installing Black Ops now. Added you to my Steam friends Rob. My steam name is One Winged Angel.
-
Hmmmm, is the patch out cause I just started Steam and it's downloading something for Black Ops
-
Yes it is
and I quote: below, with more to come. Stay tuned here - Was part of the description that came with it.

So what are your thoughts with the PC version of this game ?
Hows multiplayer looking ?
how many players max ?
Been on the fence with this game -
Looks like another patch just downloaded, 7 megs
-
Yup another patch! Goodie!
As for your question,
The game is F*cking awesome. SOOOOO many weapons and it's SOOOOO much fun. The campaign, is by FAR, the BEST story I have EVER played in my LIFE. It's more epic than epic can actually describe. NO JOKE. You'd be an idiot not to buy this game. -
Although I'm glad to see that they're already starting to spit out patches I'm still not feeling like it should be working the way it should. The spikes and random fps drops are really irritating and I'm not even playing the game on its maxed out settings either. Hopefully we can get some CAP profiles or a new video driver soon. I'd like to hope for another Dell driver but then again we all want a lot of things in life don't we? This game is awesome though, the story and graphics really mesh this thing into one big clusterf*k of happy happy joy joy!
-
Can't play zombies. No game sessions or parties keep ''Breaking up'' so the game says
-
How are people getting 100+ fps? I'm averaging 35... I have it maxed out, RadeonPro with 16xAA, Vsync off, temporal aa x3, disable aero and force high priority... No matter how many "fixes" I try, it stays at this horrid, unplayable framerate.
-
Excuse my ingnorance, where do I get the new patch? I'm new to steam...
-
It should auto download if you bought the game on release. Otherwise when you DL it from steam it'll be fully updated.
I get 100+ FPS most of the time.
I used
Flip Queue Size: 5
Texture LOD: -3
Mipmap quality: full -
Steam automatically downloads and install patches.. As long as you have it enabled. To check, go to Library -> Games .. Right click on Black Ops Multiplayer -> Properties, then Updates and make sure you have Always keep this game up to date.
-
After patches from Steam I don't really notice any difference. There's some improvement in stuttering, but fps still drops to low 20s even on low resolution and low graphics.
@Harryboiyeye What's are your drivers? Dell or AMD? Cat profile? Can you tell me all your graphics settings in the game? Thanks -
@ V3....35fps is actually very playable by the way... our eyes dont see past 24 or so..
-
+1, I didnt notice it say downloading complete or anything. Mines set up to update automatically but im not sure it actually did. Not a big fan of steam in general...
-
35 on low settings isn't right. I'm not sure why people are having issues on this game compare to my experience but it's crazy nonetheless. I run the game max on graphic settings and fps is at 60 90% of the time. The only time it dips to 30s is during some CS and during some heavy action. The dip during heavy action only last 2-3s too so I'm not very bother by it. As for the CS, well some are slow-mo so even if it slows down you kinda think it's part of the game or something...again for 2-3s.
I'm using radeonpro as well and I'm skeptical of the accuracy of this program, a tad. -
Did the same, 35 fps average, 30 min, 70 max (spent most time at 30ish, hence the avg)
-
I got a little better fps by installing AMD drivers instead of Dell. I'm using the latest 10.10.
-
Okay, I found a great fix for anyone having issues with performance after installing the last update, and now I can average around 60 at max settings. What you do, is you go to C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/call of duty black ops/players/ and delete (or move) the two .cfg files. Then, when starting up the game, click yes to start in "safe mode". This resets your settings, but it works great.
-
I'm using the 8.763 10.8 drivers and I get a constant 90 FPS
Besides the glitches in game it looks and runs great. -
Using 10.10 ATi drivers.
RadeonPro for a custom profile
Graphic settings at max and things like AA and AF are turned off in-game and forced via RadeonPro with x3 TAA. Sync every frame is off in-game and forced via RadeonPro. No CFX profiles, just a game profile via RadeonPro
Result
Constantly 100 FPS and 45 at minimum at rare times. -
But! There is some performance problem in MP.
Single player runs at 60fps with vsync but multi just stutters badly.
Not due to hardware though, software issue. -
Scratch all that, back to 40 fps average.
this game is unplayable, they really dropped the ball on this one... -
Hmm, different techniques used in games vs video. For games (computers) you'll notice.
-
Anyone have their main menu freeze for 3+ seconds every time it's opened? Really annoying when trying to quickly change a weapon for a class...
-
Yep I suffer from that too. Such a bummer that this game is so broken right now. It really is a terrific game to say the least though. They just need to sift through all the issues and bugs and hopefully sometime soon this game will be completely enjoyable (well more than it is now).
-
I was experiencing many of the problems you guys are. I did do the multi gpu update along with the cpu update. and I still got crashes. BUT what I did was change the resolution in the cfg file to 1920x1200. After I did that I haven't experience not even a single hiccup. Running at max settings. I do experience occasional graphics glitches but it's due to the overclock with throttle stop. I have been playing for 12 hours and have YET to see a single issue with the game. Not one.
-
How do you change the resolution in the cfg file? Where is it?
I did the CPU/GPU CFG file update already. -
Yes it would be nice to know what text we need to find to change the cfg file. There's just to much text!!
-
Is Black ops a Nvidia game? Does it support the Xbox Controler?
-
It should be this line for the resolution
seta r_mode "1920x1200" -
Yup it supports the 360 controller.
Black Ops is a Activision game. I don't remember seeing the Nvidia logo in this game though
http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/531271-m17x-r1-r2-cod-black-ops-discussion-8.html
Check out my middle post -
If it had the nVidia logo on the game, a lot of people probably wouldn't buy Black Ops because of Activision favoring a certain GPU manufacture. I'm sure both companies would love their logo on it though but I think it would reduce sales for CoD pn the PC. And in business, it's all about profits and profits from customers.
Customer satisfactory = profits.
Wouldn't bother me though I would just switch to nVidia LOL

Kade Storm The Devil's Advocate
True. With video, we get away with a few things that have to be generated on the games. Example: Per-pixel/full-screen/per-object motion blur, which blurs out the look of motion at those lower frame rates. This is why 24 FPS becomes obvious and jittery when such an effect isn't in use, such as with games like Call of Dity. Good examples of full screen motion blur woul be Crysis at high/very high levels, and quite a few PS3 exclusives including Killzone 2 -- both these games look smooth when runnng at proper settings, even if the frame rate's dipping a bit below 30. -
Sry about that, I should have added which line I changed to update the resolution.
-
Is it just me or are the servers almost all offline?
-
I've noticed that there seems to be very few today...
-
So this may seem like an odd question but last night I had to delete my Windows profile because it got corrupted for some strange reason and being the genius that I am I forgot to back up most of my files. Now whenever I go to play single player it doesn't show any of my saved games it only says "New Campaign" but when I check the folder in steam/steamapps/common/players/save I see all my old saved games in there. Anyone know how I could go about getting the game to recognize those saved games again? Or should I just restart the game over? I don't mind starting over though just wondering if anyone would know.
-
What really makes me angry is there is no stop button when refreshing servers.
Today there was 11765 servers and it was impossible to click on the one I wanted cause it was constantly moving.
Am I missing something here. Do you guys have the same problem? -
This is a very long shot in the dark: have you tried copy that old saved folder to another place and start a new game? after that exit and copy the old saved back in and see if the game can recognize it? When I start my game and go to campaign, I only have the option to start a new game. Back out of that and go back in, the option to continue appears out of no where.
-
if they released a recent patch and your at a different version from the server you may not see them.
-
My cfg file was already set at 1920x1200
Same for the Multi threaded device and Multi GPU set to "1"
I get constant 90fps but still glitchy and lags -
What settings in the game are everyone running at? I'm using Extra textures, trilinear filtering, yes to everything except sync every frame. Only multiplayer has the horrible fps, although singleplayer was getting about 2x that of what I get now, but now it's back to "normal" and I don't think I did anything to it...
