EDIT: ok i changed textures to high and that gave me my 80s - fps again. wierd.

 

Is there a big difference in visual quality from high - extra?

Okay, patch fixed it for a couple days, now worse as it was before... Hate Treyarch now...

 

Run everything at maximum accept the AA. Run it at 4x. I just hit my 2nd prestige with these settings. 91fps cap most of the time.

Same settings on a m15x usually 60-50 with dips down to 40...
Imo its really annoying how people with similar systems could get so drastic differences. I don't know what's normal or not!

 

I get sweet fps running everything maxed out and 16xAA. Not sure why people are having issues

 

I finally managed to run this game without stuttering. My graphics settings:

Resolution: 1280x800
Full Screen: Yes
Anti-Aliasing: Off
Aspect ratio: Wide 16:10
Refresh Rate: 60 hz
Sync every frame: No
Texture filtering: Auto
A nisotropic filtering: MAX
Texture Quality: Extra
Shadows: No
Bullent Impacts: No
Field of View: MAX

I highlighter what think are most important settings. With above I'm getting around 60 fps, but it doesn't drop below 40 and it's smooth as silk. I've notice that I have much better fps (over 90) if I turn AA to 2x, but choppiness and stuttering comes back and I see dips to 20s. Hope this helps.

 

Not sure what you mean here, but you're only two levels away from 2nd prestige. Not like it matters anyway, it's all the same after the first 50 levels.

 

is there anywhere else the Blackops file could be i cant find my version anywhere its definitely not under steam/steamapps/common on my computer

I have an R1 and my fps go from 30 to somewhere near 60, on average I would say its 40 fps. I noticed only one of the video cards is increasing temperature when I play so im downloading 260.99 drivers to see if this helps.. Im currently running dell's 257.xx drivers. I also changed the config files to 1 on both strings but that didnt help. Hopefully these drivers will..

Dont get me wrong though, the game is totally playable for me, its just a matter of pride! I also think i should have higher fps considering I have 2 1gb gpus... will report back once I have the new driver installed.

And yes it is all the same. They need to release more maps soon or give mod tools

 

it sucks. i get like... 50 fps. but i have everything turned down except the res, which is 1920x1200 (max) i have to have max res.

 

I wonder why people with the same specs have these different performance experiences... considering same drivers/vbios, etc...

 

All I can say is I hope they realize that the last patch is not the final one needed.

 

The game has very inconsistent framerates. I run it with everything maxed (max texture setting as well) in SP and get between 30-70+ fps depending on the scene. I think having an extreme processor would be very beneficial for this game and my GPU's are STILL under utilized. I'm not seeing anything more than 35% usage on each so I'm considering disabling crossfire for this game until ATi or Treyarch issue a proper fix. Man I really hate consoles, PC gaming has gone down the toilet since the console craze. I'm praying gimmicks like Kinect and Move become a huge success so these hardcore game devs lose sales in the console space and go back to the PC...well one can dream, they'd likely just resort to gimmick games to compete..sigh.

 

I just hope Battlefield 3 isn't such a disgrace to PC gamers everywhere...

 

Well BF series games had thier fair share of bugs, but was still playable, and fun

 

To apply a Kinect/Move to an FPS would completely ruin it. They tried it on the Wii and it succeeds at failing.

 

Oh, gotcha. You're right about that. I own a server, and the options are extremely limited. You can choose game type and map, make some stupid messages, and kick/ban people. That's about it.

 

So I heard, when they release Mod tools my clan wll be producing maps and making an un-ranked server I am told.

 

So... in a few years, you mean? If they are taking their time working on mod tools without first fixing the game, then they need some serious time management classes.

 

Obviously once they fix the game, cause putting in extra goodies when the default ones are broken would be a completely retarded objective.

 

One can only hope.

well i'm using the latest ATI drivers. and i noticed that if i set the cards to "optimal performance" then i get crappy frame rates. then for the hell of it i tried "optimal quality" and boom my frame rates jumped up to 93 all day long.

so i'm not sure what this means, but there you have it folks.

 

Tried it, 30fps in center of NUKETOWN with no battling or fighting or explosions, just standing there. These performance differences across people who should have the same hardware really gets me angry >.<

 

You're not alone. This game is so bad I wish it never came out. It kinda ruined my overall Cod experience. I posted a couple of weeks ago saying that everything was runnings smooth, but they must have done something recently cause I can't run this piece of sh.. anymore..

 

They just released patch, I think, steam was downloading something for it, but nothiing seems to have changed...

 

Got my 285s swapped for 5870s CF yesterday. And just now for first time on an ATI card I entered the game. It was amazing, everything maxed without problem. It is smooth, but I can't say about FPS, cuz i don't have a proper program to be used on R2 yet. On R1, i used evga precision and it was awesome, but now on R2, whenever i try to launch the software, it freezes deadly. May I ask what software you guys are using?

P.S., did you guys try the latest 10.11? I'm running on it. I just want to confirm what kind of FPS i got on max settings...

 

use fraps FRAPS show fps, record video game movies, screen capture software it gives you small yellow numbers on one of the corners of the screen (depends on what you choose)

 

I'm beginning to think there is something really wrong. In the server browser, with only not empty enabled as a search option, it finds 73(1000-2000). In the corner it says 16000+ servers online. What gives?

 

Same for me, this game is so screwed........Im embarrassed to tell my friends who use xbox live that I cant even play! Especially because I always use the "my m17x smokes your five yr old 360" line when they rant about how I need to get one

 

Not sure what could have been wrong with your cards, but my 285s smoke threw black ops at 85+ FPS via Fraps with everything maxed.

 

Running 10.11 CAP2, with my settings below I get the following for a Fraps BM on ave.

I am not sure, just thought it selected the setting based on hardware, driver and map.
Any game comand line to display it while the game is running?

 

Just tried it, looks like extra to me... Same performance, anyhow, going from full AF and 4x AA to your settings.

Also, I'm having a really hard time finding servers! I need to capture flags for marathon pro, but I can only find 4-5 ctf servers, and all of them have horrible ping. I find it hard to believe that out of 16000 servers, only 4 are ctf.

Thirdly, it won't let me buy the FAMAS now that I have prestiged (tier 3 now). I hate the people at Treyarch who decided that they weren't going to care for pc players. -.-

Lastly, every time I start it, it tells me that my computer has changed and it wants to configure itself, which reverts it to default. Having to put all my settings back every time is not very fun. So, as of late, I have been clicking "NO, do NOT change my settings". I wonder why it thinks my computer keeps changing....

 

no, nothing wrong with my 285, i chose 5870 from the start, but they sent me 285 instead, so they swapped it. I didn't run CoD on 285s at all. And I wasn't saying i was having problem in the game with 285s. If anything sounded like that way, it was my 260Ms on R1, and I think motherboard had to do with the issue.

I have all the same problems + connection interrupted while playing forcing me to leave the game.
The Famas thing was happening, but went away after two days......

 

Sorry for the off topic, but I'm sure this is better than starting a separate thread, cuz most people would use some kind of software to find out FPS.

Do those of you who tried to use evga Precision or MSI afterburner get freeze up hard at launching the software? I am very concerned about this, because it looks like precision cannot be used at all on my new system. And I did not yet find any substitute on par with Precision when it comes OSD CPU data monitoring
