that would be a great thing to do. I know some good ones that help us through hard times.

If LVNeptune has any updates on getting the 3D to work, that would be awesome. Thank you a ton for all the effort you've put in and sleep you've lost. 120hz down, now we just need 3d and we're set
-
-
actually after following the link i think you've cracked it -
I sent him my INF to look at.
-
-
try this mate NVIDIA DRIVERS 270.51 BETA
-
Got my fingers crossed that everything works, I want to install one of these so bad
-
I believe I tried those already
-
Maybe, i see a folder on them, just install it xD

BIOS update coming soon?
-
Do i need to update my bios? I'm still on the first one because it's the first R3, with the bug chipset you know...
-
I upgraded mine when A03 was released, not sure if you *HAVE* to.
-
Sent LVNeptune 2 inf's to try, one for 267.76 and one for 270.51
If they solve the issue I'll post them up for everyone. -
Ok thanks Lvneptune, I will wait before up.
Someone can inform me what i need to add on nvcv.inf file for being able to update my gtx460m? -
270.51 didn't work testing other one now.
-
-
Other one still no S3D.
-
-
Is this going to be a special vbios on the card with a driver file in Dell drivers that only works with that vbios ? why have Dell made this whole thing so complicated
-
did you copy all the entries (see below) from the 460 dell driver inf file to the 270.51 inf it contains all the subsystem links 2x tables

try this:
NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Automatically Find Drivers For My NVIDIA Products
on internet explorer
or this:
NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search
product type: 3d vision
product series: 3d vision
product: full driver CDs for notebook PCs or 3D vision driver for Geforce -
Any updates? Hopefully one of these solutions will do the trick
-
Will test when I get back.
-
Testing now. Will report back in a bit.

I Want mine :'( Why DHL so slow..
-
DHL is fast to me when I order from .CN, usually 3 days.
Also, still a no go, same message when I launch the 3D wizard manually and it doesn't show up in the control panel. -
Where did you order yours? I would be willing to order a 485m and give it a shot at trying to get the thing to work -
I orderedit on the 30/03 by LBO with DHL and right know, it's

wth lol, it's turning in Australia... -
have you looked at the driver install directory and tried installing the 3D application manually, maybe it is not installing, also if easy to do try moving the lcd plug/connector on the MB to the 2nd socket.
it just seems that the nvidia control panel does not see the lcd panel as a 3D device, there must be a driver for it somewhere or a file that dell includes with their drivers that is not included with the downloaded nvidia drivers because it seems you are seeing two different problems depending on which driver you install. Also check out the bsod thread, it could be safe enough to download and try the latest dell driver provided you uninstall all unused language packs, the bsods are a windows 7 issue it seems, maybe this new dell driver supports the 485 as it might be launched soon -
Try with RivaTuner, I read somewhere it should works
-
also one more thought
speak nicely to a Dell tech supervisor or better, tell them what you did and ask if they have a driver for the card that they could give you even though it's not on general release -
Also will be trying this: Trying Anaglyph Stereoscopic 3D Gaming on your Laptop - 3D Vision Blog
Just to possibly enable it...Would be nice.
Bah...didn't help...Doesn't integrate with the 3D emitter ;( -
have you tried this
Drivers and Downloads
reg entry also HKLM,"System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NvStUSB\Parameters" -
I don't think you followed me. It is installing the driver, the driver is fine. If I swap between the 460M and the 485M it shows S3D on the 460M, on the same driver with the 485M in place there is no S3D...
-
that is why I'm saying install the 3D stuff again, there may be a registry entry specific to the GPU id that will only update if you install with the 485m is in there, there is a simple fix to this - I know it
the 485m is a 3D card it should be exactly the same as the 460m in that respect so this relational to device names.
when you look in device manager are there any exclamations -
Missing 3d Vision settings from Control Panel - NVIDIA Forums
someone wrote this on an other forums:
I had a similar problem. Make sure your primary display is listed first on your Multi display config. I have two displays and when I reinstalled drivers my settings were defaulted so that my acer was listed as second display. It limited my res/gama etc , but didn't eliminate the choices. Maybe this'll help. -
here is the guide for the whole thing
NVIDIA 3D Vision Professional |Installation Guide
LV are you getting any of these menus or is this what is not available
there is also a setup wizzard, I think you need to forget that the 460m works and start from scratch with the 485m -
No menus, and manually running the wizard prompts the panel is unsupported.
-
that must be the problem then, nvidia doesn't have the panel on their list, dell must have forced a way round this.
-
I'm admittedly stumped, I'm not even sure it's actually a driver issue at this point but maybe some hardware feature lock/incompatibility with the internal panel. Going over the infs I sent LVNeptune all is fine on the driver end, in fact the big requirement part for stereoscopic inf-side is "NVSupport3DVision = 1" in the section the card was placed into.
Not to say a solution won't spring up, just saying it might not be as simple of an issue as it appears to be on the surface. -
Not too worried about it right now. Assuming Dell actually releases the laptop with this card all issues will be resolved but it would mean a waste for me since Dell would probably sell the card @ $500 or so when I paid $750 for it =/
I would like to get a spare heatsink and retention bracket that way I can easily swap between the 460M and 485M, that would rock, IMO. -
guess ill hold off on buying it then until 3D works, I dont mind spending the money but if it looks like its upto Dell to fix it then Ill wait. -
It's not really up to dell, it is something NVIDIA is doing when checking ID's or something just not easily bypassable. If NVIDIA removed their panel restriction this would almost certainly work. I believe there was an OOOOLD driver that didn't force it but it was before this card was released and wouldn't work anyway.
-
what type of panel is it - model number and vendor ? perhaps a request to nvidia to add it might do.
-
Someone said the attempt would arrive at the same conclusion, but some individuals were not too happy with that person for analysing this earlier with common sense based on very good inputs from the OP.
-
does it really woRk? does aw bios support it? what abt the power adapter? i think u need 220w power brick is the AW default PW 220w?
