lol, this thread takes the biscuit
-
mmmm biscuits
Where's my news??? -
Give him as much time as he needs...
LVNeptune might have to mod his heatsink, and that will definitely take time. It's all worth it to find out if the 485m is going to work. -
Damn this is exciting
Let's just hope we won't be dissapointed -
Cmoooooooooooon
-
Are we there yet?
-
What about now? Finished?
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
haha, it probably hasn't even arrived yet. or it did and he's hard at work. I just wish he could get on, maybe on a skype channel so we could assist him.
-
Peace guys, at worst he'll get back to us tomorrow. Don't get too excited, because if this doesn't work we're back to the drawing board.
-
Btw guys, not to get hopeful or anything, but I take back my words a few pages ago. Inap and some guy got a 6970m working in an m15x.
Can't help but speculate that this might be a similarity to the m17x r3 with the 485m. -
Works, heavy modification needed unrelated to the heatsink, the black stuff is just a sticker that comes off easy. Had to switch retention clip from the 460M to the 485M, be VERY CAREFUL. PICS COMING SOON!
Need to get drivers properly installed. But yes, I am in Windows with it now! -
YESSSSS nice job

Strange, doesn't say unknown says "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" ... ?
-
But in the bios, it say GTX485m?
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
download drivers, then run CPUZ, and see if it says 485m.
-
It does say NVIDIA GFX in BIOS with no onboard detected as usual.
Downloading ftp://cftp.clevo.com.tw/P170HM/VGA/FX2800M_64.zip right now.
If anyone has a faster mirror let me know since this is sooo slow -
i don,t know try this one...
CLEVO Driver Download -
Lol all the USA links are dead.
-
or that one but don,t nknow if its working
GeForce GTX 485M -
Downloading official NVIDIA driver and modding it now
-
LOL if it's working, (please give it to me )
-
that one is fast from eurocom
Eurocom Drivers
But did you uninstall you gtx460m driver?? -
are you using the original power supply that came with the 460m m17x neptune?
-
John - Yes
Darc - Didn't uninstall yet, no...Eurocom doesn't have a 485M driver listed that I can find... -
FX2800M_64.zip will be done in 8 minutes. I'll mirror it on sendspace if this works so other people have quicker access to the driver.
-
Yes or you can post it when you will release ''like'' a little tutorial how you do your upgrade. That will be awesome^^
-
Honestly it should just be up to the drivers now...I am in the system, so it should be smooth sailing after getting drivers up...Downloading 267.24 beta notebook drivers apparently someone already had a modded inf....FX2800M_64 still has 5 minutes =/
NVIDIA's website takes about a minute.
EDIT: That modded INF didn't work for me...*SIGH* hope this driver from CLEVO does work >_< -
I take it the stock driver's will not work ?? -
Stock is a no-go, my hardware ID's FWIW
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0E31&SUBSYS_04901028
Modified the INF from the 267.24 myself...Shoot, may as well just download the latest NVIDIA modify it and run the installer at this point haha.
EDIT: The CLEVO one is finally almost done and I accidentally just downloaded the 32Bit NVIDIA stock, now downloading the 64bit NVIDIA stock and it's still done before the CLEVO one WOW so slow =/ -
CLEVO didn't install...Any other ideas.
OK, apparently this ID wasn't in the INF, added it to the proper areas and running installer, now. -
NVIDIA Mobility Modder from hardwareheaven maybe?
-

Software Upgrade
Try the driver listed on that page, it's for a sager card which I'm guessing you ordered from RJ Tech so it's a Sager/Clevo card so it should have the HWID's already in the driver for you. If that doesn't work make sure they are already in there and if they are it may be a problem.
Edit: Another idea is to head over to laptopvideo2go as they keep their most recent modded driver .inf files updated with just about every card known to man. Try both desktop and mobile drivers, I know I couldn't get my 460m to work right with anything but a modded desktop driver. -
Said installed successfully! Rebooting NOW!
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
The true test is 3dmark, gaming application and 3D testing though. You've got your work cut out for you neptune!!!!!
-
Ok can you put the modded driver and tuto upgrade after when you will have time please because i can't mod myself .inf file without any tutorial...:/ ??
-
After driver install when my fan started speeding up it's not running at full speed it's going vroom vroom vroom, from slow to fast repeatedly... =/
Any ideas on that one? -
Awesome job! Check the temps
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
That means it's not actually supported in the bios, the only chances of fixing that is to have bios support added. You can try to use the manual fan controls using HWInfo32 but the guys that tried that with the 6970 in the R2 didn't have luck
-
52-55c, not under load. Launching RIFT right now
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
That's pretty hot..... little worrying
-
Any problems with taking the screen to 120Hz
did you use the stock fan and heatsink or the one that camw with the 485M?? -
I just noticed the GPU voltage is at 0.850v and isn't switching voltages when I unplug/replug the power. Does this mean insufficient power?
EDIT: NVM, after launching game the voltage went up to 1.000v and I unplugged and it dropped back down. Apparently this uses less voltage than the 460M did, 460M IIRC was 1.025 or so. -
I'm at 52* with gtx460m...
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
55C? really thats what my 280m's reach at full load, thats the high. the idle is like 33-35
-
enable 3d mode ok? 3dmark tests of course too no doubt. really looking forward to photos of install.
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
My 460m idled in the low 50's on stock paste as well it's the max loaded temps you need to watch as that will tell you if the card is A)too much for the system AND/OR B)if the fan is working right.
-
how are you all checking the temps
