M17x-R2 - out with HD5870

so has it been confirmed that the 5870's offered now how the crossfire connector?

 

i dont think anyone can really verify that.

but if you buy refurb parts, the duals come with the cable

 

hmmmm.. might have to sell my replacement to get the 5870s.... I'll wait until US has the CF option.

 

I am pleased with the performance that I get from ATi.
Except for when it comes to Battlefield Bad Company 2
it's quite annoying to play with pals & they load in like 10-15secs.
and it seems that it takes me 2-3 min to load.
it only happends to ATi Card holders and is a known driver issue.

 

Does it really take that long to load? My M15x loaded so fast, I had enough time to go into my enemies base and they thought I was on their team until I knifed about 5 people and found out I was an enemy

 

What is the exact part number I should give the dell spare parts sales guy?

and how much is it for the whole package?

I bet this is (7820/5870) the same physical card that can be turned into a proper gaming GPU just by flashing. The only problem is to get the correct version for it.

If I recall correctly someone on these forums did flash the 280M(75W) into FX3800M(100W) and back.

AFAIK, - yes. Do you imply that Fermi would need a different MXM type -> the advertised Nvidia card is most likely not Fermi?
I assume it's 3.0b since MXM org is only working/testing the new MXM currently. It might even appear no sooner than Sandy. And there's a high chance that we might get Fermi based cards still with the 3.0b, IMO.

The storyline was very very weak but online is pretty fun, just too used to playing modern warfare 2 for like a week and a half first time playing online. I would like to see if you could successfully flash the firepro card! I would buy it just for that and the IPS panel and freaking weight 7.75 pounds!

$409 for the total package sounds unreasonably cheap. Considering the price that a single 4870 goes for used... approx $400...

 

I bought brand new slave 4870 for $411...Directly from Dell. But either way. Australia won't get 5870's till May around that which is only a few days off.. (Probably mid May though)

 

Yes, I'm from the Netherlands. They changed the cards as I was checking my order and price. I got a -€50 differ when configurating it, so i became curious why. Then I suddenly noticed they updated the cards. So I immediately contacted my sales Rep and she updated my cards there and then. Also i got a new ordernumber and my payment (from the old order) was transferred to the new order. This is how my order got HD5870 Crossfired.

But after everything was taken care off, The card simply disappered from the Website all over Europe... except for some blindspots (no offence felow Europeans). So from there and then, there is no way to order it, unless you have been abducted by Aliens like some persons on NBR; "Mandrake"

I'd be suspecious of you actually getting them. Might want to call and confirm because if they pulled them from the websites it's for a reason. I doubt they would let them get into the systems. Might be suprised when it arrives with 4870's.

 

I can't believe both you and Mandrake are getting the 5870s before being released into the market, I do agree with DR650SE that they pulled them off for a reason.

 

Mandrakes getting them? I hope it's actually true, but I'll have to see it to believe it. Till then, it just all seems like a big misunderstanding due to clueless reps. I'd be less then thrilled when I fired it up to see 4870's. Would be nice to actually have them out though so I can finally order.

 

I didn't recieve the order payment confirm jet, so this might also delay it? But i don't really know, if I will, or will not recieve the HD5870CrossFired rig.
If not, it will go straight back to be replaced with the correct one, as my EDD is 05-26-2010, (my guess would be that the 5870Cf option is out then).
Because I want a HD5870 (with or without CF) considdering it is DX11, stonger, consumes less energy then 4870Cf and list goes on and on.

Bottom line; I will get what I payed for, either way that would be the 5870....

 

you should be happy for this. they are the testers anyway. even though intensive tests include a whole range of tests and not only benchmarks.

 

Totally agree. Once we have some people hands on M17x with Xfire 5870s, everyone gona have one in the near future.

there are too many variables for just a handful of testers, we know that because of the dpc issue, lock-ups and flickering. there will always be problems that testers wont catch, its just murphy doing his thing. They should just release them, this just cause's consumer confusion for all of us and returns for those folk who thought they where ordering a 5870 CF set up.

Ye whats up with the hd 5870's dissapearing? The only options in Belgium are 1 or 2 ati hd 4870 cards. Very weird...

If it was someone working close with Dell/Alienware then I would believe it, but if it is just a Dell rep or a random person then it probably won't be May 5th.
