And price jumped by 50 euro today. Looks like Dell is like old wine-you wait more, you pay more.

A quick query if we even see the dual 5870, etc do we still get the Binary GFX (integrated graphics) that would be the selling point for me :D?

Dell knows there are thousands of hungry gamers waiting for CF 5870, why not to increase price and make half of million?
According to my rep, upgrade will be 486 euro, not 388 like at the beginning of fake release.

This thread sure has slowed down. Well until next week when we hopefully see the launch of the crossfire 5870s. That is unless of course we run into part shortages, then it may delay things even more. Keep in mind that semiaccurate has already mentioned sampling of the new nVidia cards and you can bet AW has working test cards in their labs. I'm guessing by mid June we might see nVidia's newest dx 11 cards available alongside 5870 xfire.

doubt it, more like the price of the Euro dropped off a cliff. You know about the little thing going on in Greece? You can thank them.

The euro trades for 75cents to the dollar now. Down from 1.3 dollars a few weeks ago.

I just ordered a laptop last night with dual 4870's in crossfire. I want the 5870's in crossfire but I also want a laptop asap. So my question is this, I see rumors that the 5870's will be available in crossfire on May 5th. Is there ANY proof of that? Because if I recall correctly, didn't people expect the 5870's in crossfire to be released a couple months ago? And haven't people been waiting for months now for them? And they still aren't released.....?

    So, ANY proof out there?

Or is this just MORE rumor?

    Yes.

It's rumored to be released in May 5th in the US. Not sure about AUS. But I want to know if there is ANY proof to that, or if somebody just picked a date and said it'll be here then.

Haha well it would be pretty funny but I definitely wasn't joking around. It should be cinco de mayo or at worst a bit later. Right now its on target for 5/5 but what could change that is the supply of crossfire cards but this only applies to the NA market.

Just sold my M17x-R2 to s0ysauce so if I was kidding around or didn't expect the 5870 xfire, I wouldn't have done so. It's coming..very soon and shortly after will be nVidia's next gen mobile release.

So, are you going to sell the 5870 CF system in June-July and by one with nVidia's new SLI then?...That's when I'm selling mine. Any takers?? :)

I called dellienware and the guy said there isn't and wouldn't be any 5870 crossfire option. He was very insistent that i put an order in. So I know he was lying which makes me question the answer to the question I asked him about 12.5 mm hard drives fitting in the M17x. He said it would have enough room.

From what I've heard from the grapevine, the new mobile nVidia cards will be faster than crossfire 5870. I won't upgrade to them though but then again I said the same thing about the 5870s once before so you never know ;)

Hey did you notice the changes on the Alienware australia page today? First the base price went down from 2699 to 2599! Then i've also noticed a drop in the Dual ati 4870 price from 427 to 299! It looks to me that Dell is pushing hard to sell the current stock of 4870's.... And the config page has also had changes...

Hoping 5870 CF is not faar away.. ;)

and also as an evidence to show that dell is trying to get rid of the 4870s:

at US site, 4870s shows to be delayed for 7 days. And guess what? it has been like that exactly for 2 weeks or so. i made a purchase last last sunday, bout 2 weeks ago, and it was at the SAME 7 days delay... we know something is going on here. i ll stick with joker that it is coming real soon cause alienware cant just delay like that.. no laptops are being shipped = no profit.

interesting, when i placed my last order on 22/4 with DUAL 4870s it cost about A$3084, same config now is A$2898.2. Nice, A$200 difference. I think the drop of base price may relate to the strong AU currency, cos all models went down for A$100, while the price of dual 4870 is mainly about clear stock to me. Come on, people, get ur cash ready or credit card whatever...

If the M15x can't handle the 5870's heat to Alienware's standards, and if 5870CF is cutting it close heat wise, how are they ever going to handle the thermonuclear reactors that are Fermi cards?

Or 8gb with i7-820. Anyone know what the better choice would be/why?

Bugger it Im waiting for the Nvidia GTX900000000000000 with hypergate quantam starwars processing processing or the ATI HD 999999999999999 :D to play Dx 50000

So what if Fermi is faster than the HD5870. Im sure the HD5870 will play games for the next 5 years without faltering. Even the 8800M is still chugging along nicely

So what about Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, France... ? Rating agencies are currently on a downgrading spree. Germany doesn't look so good in the absolute, only relative to others. How will a bunch of one-legged carry a legless cripple without crashing on the ground on their turn, I'm eager to see that. The euro will continue to fall relative to the dollar and might drive prices of your laptops up in the EU.

i wish this was only for laptops. situation is going crazy and Greece has minimum responsibilities for this. Greece is the victim. Remember it was first the economic crysis and then the Greece came forward the latest months. always weak countries pay everything. In other words Greece and to be more specific its politicians are all stupid-thieves causing the interior economy to drop but not the european one as a whole. We Greeks hope that pressing from european union and not only will stress us and take decisions that we should take by ourselves. The Greeks do miracles but only under pressure. This is for greeks but european union does nothing to support this country so as to lend with better conditions.

As for the price of the M17X i personally dont care as i wait for replacement meaning free.

If there was one possibility alienware machines would be sold in Greece now there is no possibility. loool
