why are the cores so hot? my r1 atm is idle at 50 max

 

what motherboard revision? does this mean 5870s wont work on a system with 4870s?

 

They're cooler now, not sure why.

Edit: All 4 cores are running at max for some weird reason.

 

where are all the benchmarks? Everyone is getting their laptops in today and no vantage/3dmark06 runs...

 

They definitely run a good 3c cooler than a single 5870. I'm not a benchmark whiz, so interpret away!

 

I just tried to register Vantage with a key that was supplied in this thread but it's not working.. I changed the mip map to high perf but I need a working key to proceed. I can at least run 3DMark06.

*nevermind I'm an idiot I had the wrong program installed lol..*

 

90 degrees!!! =/ man the AWSD keys must be roasting.. that was too hot when my 280 was hitting those numbers, possible drivers to lower it? what were u doing to reach 90? if thats benching, whats temps at on a normal game?

Yeah that was benching. I'll check the WoW temps once all these updates are done.

 

if it was furmark then it's doable, furmarks "tortures" the gpu to check what the max temps are

 

Okay on WoW, with stock UI, every single setting on max, ultra, full screen etc, I'm getting around 160-180 fps inside staring at an instance portal.

Just installed the Catalyst 10.5 drivers. Working on getting the control panel going and then gonna let vantage install. I'll have to leave after that for a few hours but when I get back I'll run some comparison benchmarks between the 4870 xfire and 5870 xfire.

How did the install of 10.5 go? Did you have to do it manually? Did you install Dell driver first or directly the 10.5 after the fresh install?

 

I just installed 10.5 using the link from the r2 owners lounge. Worked fine.


Installing Vantage now btw, very very slowly

 

If you do a fresh OS wipe it gives trouble like some have reported. I did a manual install of the drivers. The CCC is being a bit more tricky so I may just use the CCC from Dell since that isn't too important.

 

i said that 'cause with the bios a05 i can't install catalyst 10.4 now i come back in A02 and the driver work fine. i'm downloading the 10.5. prey for me

I got like 12679 max out of mine on stock drivers so far with a fresh install all stock no tweaks.

It seems we are still far from the 13K GPU mark at stock.

 

What is CCC?

 

Catalyst Control Center. (a control panel of sorts for ATi cards)

 

Yeah so if it does not install correctly with the 10.5 I imagine you need to install the dell GPU driver first then install the 10.5 on top manually therefore the CCC will be Dells and the driver will be 10.5

That is not bad for PC Mark scores. How about Vantage?

Remember you can never compare to the best score. The best scores are achieved by OC to 5ghz Desktop i7 980Xtreme with OC desktop GTX480 video cards and the system is liquid cooled sometimes even nitrogen cooled.

 

Oh...that would explain why the key isnt working. wow.

Ok heres what i got, not installing anything before running other than the mandatory updates it automatically does 13601. 2.0=5041 3.0=7476 CPU=3126. any q's let e know.

 

Do you have a print screen please. What is your setup?

 

@Shawn012507 -- That looks like 3dMark06 with a 720QM (or less), but how about identifying the benchmark you're posting and your computer specs?

LOL. You need to upload it as a thumbnail. Edit your post and click on the "Go Advanced" tab, then look for the tab that says "Manage Attachments", and upload the file.
