    Hi

Yes, I,m totaly happy with the build quality, the aluminium is really hard, stiff, although fingerprints are noticeable, build quality 10/10

The screen could be better, left side about 1inch is darker than rest of the screen, in this case screen in my m1710 and e1705 are master of masters

Also I have a lag (about half a second maybe less) on touchpad tapping, although I ordered roccat kane mouse, but still I miss touchpad from m1710 and e1705

The hinges looks very solid for me, made from plastic but very hard, of course I can't assure you that the won't break

The hinges are the most solid i have ever felt . It actually takes a decent amount of force to even open it so dont worry about it .

This machine is about 12pounds so comparing to your Macbook in anyway shape or form is not a good idea as they are in totally different leagues.

Build quality is excellent, aluminium is thick and none of that cheap recycled plastic to be found anywhere on the laptop.
The hinges are also very sturdy.
I would almost say u could drive over it with a car and it will survive, And no im not gonna test that :p.
And I agree, The last thing u should be comparing this to is a mac, Totally different machines.

Not to start the old Mac vs. PC argument but I recently read an article in either PC World or Laptop that compared the security of the Apple vs. that of the PC for viruses and such and deduced that the only significant reason why Apple had less "attacks" were because PC owns over 90% of the market! The wrter of the article asks the question: "if you were a hacker, which would you chose to attack with viruses?" The obvious answer is the 90% to have a greater chance of doing more damage....

Oh and though I love my M17x, I have had a very successful year using my m15x, it has performed quite well and I am pleased.

That is exactly what my main argument is when people say "why didn't you get a Mac? They don't get virus". Don't get my wrong, I like Macs and agree they are nice machines but I just hate it when people say that..

I asume you mean a hardware failure ? and not a cracked casing or hinge or anything like that?
Unfortunatly those things happen with a desktop or a laptop, none the less it's very frustrating.
The only real problem I had was a corrupt vista installation when it arrived, Very sloppy but easily fixable.
Besides that I think the laptop is build very very well.
Before I bought this one I went to look at some other high end laptops, And i can honestly say none felt as solid as this one, overall I am pleased with it.

Just to let you know the M17x in these pics is anodized red aluminum. The M15x will be painted red on a magnesium and plastic chassis.

Since my M17x order is still in limbo due to the ATI cards I should call and ask if they can change my color to red as a courtesy. Probably wouldnt work but might be worth a try haha.

You cannot change anything in your order after it has been processed.

They will make you cancel and reorder.

When the relashonship manager called to inform me of the status of the order this morning, I inquired about getting the red added. He told me he would have to cancel out and re-order it all over again. I figured it was worth a shot :)

He was telling me something a little different in addition to what he told me the last time we spoke. if I understood him correctly, he said something to the effect that they didnt have a lot of them physically in stock yet. in addition to having to test them. That it could be till at least next week till production starts. its basically all about the cards.

Its most likely another typo. When they first showed up on the Italian site they were listed as GDDR5 4850s, but were later changed to say 4870s.
