Hi
Yes, I,m totaly happy with the build quality, the aluminium is really hard, stiff, although fingerprints are noticeable, build quality 10/10
The screen could be better, left side about 1inch is darker than rest of the screen, in this case screen in my m1710 and e1705 are master of masters
Also I have a lag (about half a second maybe less) on touchpad tapping, although I ordered roccat kane mouse, but still I miss touchpad from m1710 and e1705

The hinges are the most solid i have ever felt . It actually takes a decent amount of force to even open it so dont worry about it .
This machine is about 12pounds so comparing to your Macbook in anyway shape or form is not a good idea as they are in totally different leagues. -
Build quality is excellent, aluminium is thick and none of that cheap recycled plastic to be found anywhere on the laptop.
The hinges are also very sturdy.
I would almost say u could drive over it with a car and it will survive, And no im not gonna test that.
And I agree, The last thing u should be comparing this to is a mac, Totally different machines. -

Oh and though I love my M17x, I have had a very successful year using my m15x, it has performed quite well and I am pleased. -
-
Awesome...
How much money you spent to buy that Gaming Laptop?
Must be expensive... -
-
thanks for the photos! the red design looks awesome! i was debating mentally whether to use my severance on the black or the red, and this thread has definitely helped a lot. thanks again.

-
Oompa-Loompa virus anyone ?
-
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
Nod32 and all virus problems ga away.

Unfortunatly those things happen with a desktop or a laptop, none the less it's very frustrating.
The only real problem I had was a corrupt vista installation when it arrived, Very sloppy but easily fixable.
Besides that I think the laptop is build very very well.
Before I bought this one I went to look at some other high end laptops, And i can honestly say none felt as solid as this one, overall I am pleased with it. -
That system is a beauty and I hope I can get my 1730 replaced with it.
-
Nice pics
-
I look at these pics EVERYDAY! lol
It keeps the pain from waiting for mine to a minimum.... -
What can PC owners expect if they ship PC's with McCrappy or Norton-do nothing.
Nice in red much better than i expected, thats on cool looking lappy! -
I have to admit, the RED actually looks good in those pics. The pics on the Alienware site dont do them justice. LOL now I want red!
-
I searched for this thread for a while to show someone how nice the red looks
Thanks for finding it! -
its huuuuge!
pretty, but huge!
The build looks great tho, im hoping my M15x when it arrives will be just as sexy, more in a kristen bell way, than a pamala anderson way -
love the red. both my m1710 and m1730 were red. i wish i got red in my m17x but i went with black. didnt have a choice really since its a replacement for my broken m1730. but i did get the dual sli gtx 280 and qx9300 with 8ddr3.

ya the m15x seems cheaper but comes with core i7 and already has windows 7 drivers. you think the m17x would have a nice core i7 and win 7 drivers.
-
Since my M17x order is still in limbo due to the ATI cards I should call and ask if they can change my color to red as a courtesy. Probably wouldnt work but might be worth a try haha.
-
Worth a try, but I bet they already picked your chassis from the shelf.
-
Bringing this thread back doesn't help the wait.
-
ya good luck with the color change. pay the $99 it might be worth it.
-
-
call and see what happens.
-
You cannot change anything in your order after it has been processed.
They will make you cancel and reorder. -
^^^ I see, thanks. I guess if I was going to go with the 280s I might be able to do that then. im still trying to hold out for the ATI's though
-
i love my dual 280gtx. but the atis do seem interesting.

Except you'll get put in the WAAAY back of the queue. I am sure a lot of people ordered the 4870's.
So it does matter somewhat. -
well try it and let us know.
-
When the relashonship manager called to inform me of the status of the order this morning, I inquired about getting the red added. He told me he would have to cancel out and re-order it all over again. I figured it was worth a shot
-
I love being right! lol
Nah, I have been ordering Dell laptops for years now so I know better -
Well I figured since he called I might as well have brought it up.
-
Well what did he say about your order?
-
He was telling me something a little different in addition to what he told me the last time we spoke. if I understood him correctly, he said something to the effect that they didnt have a lot of them physically in stock yet. in addition to having to test them. That it could be till at least next week till production starts. its basically all about the cards.
-
see in your sig you say GDDR5 4870's
Irish site has GDDR3's
which is it really? -
