Just to make sure, do everything like I said and see if that works for you. If not then I don't know what to say..
-
If it doesn't work then idk...anyway how do you boot into safe mode? I went into boot menu and it said it couldnt find any other boot type so idk :/
-
I did but I ran the drive cleaner instead.
-
Ran CCleaner. Still the same...No Control center thing on the install I've run out of paitents....
-
Do you currently have catalyst center installed with the windows driver?
-
Since I ran into such problems with the drivers (essentially after doing the steps I didn't even have an option to install the drivers or Catalyst) I reverted to the factory install and haven't tried again (I did it twice and reverted after each).
-
No i have the Center uninstalled. along with the drivers for the card (Only MS drivers installed for it atm)
-
I had issues the first time and couldn't install over the beta drivers. I was able to under the windows drivers which for me automatically also installed ccc.
I just did a fresh install last night because I picked up an ssd and this time the windows drivers didn't install properly. Windows didn't find the proper drivers and didn't install ccc. Anyhow 10.3 ended up installing fine without windows drivers or dell drivers.
It's strange how sometimes it seems to work and other times it doesn't. -
*Sigh* Im just gonna go back to Dell Drivers. I cbf to waste time with this anymore.
God. Wth. Am i doing wrong!?
-
Yup, that's the exact same screen I got after I uninstalled all the ATI stuff and ran the driver cleaner. Both times in fact each on a fresh factory default setup.
-
Ikuto,
Did you try choosing the express install? Disregard the status of your CCC just run the latest 10.3 installer again and choose the "express" one. And if you could also provide step by step screenshots, - would be great.
Can you follow these steps? -
Your third screenshot shows the custom install. Does it pop-up automatically?
-
Nope. With that run i did Custom Installation. But the same thing happens with the Express.Except it doesnt show the custom thing. it skips that accept the TAC and then it installs and it looks the same with the ending pic.
-
What drivers ver. do you see in Device manager?
-
This is what i see;
-
So it looks like I won't be a complete "Owner" of an M17x until my motherboard gets replaced (if that fixes the crossfire issue) or a replacement M17xR2.
-
Looks like the default W7 driver, right?
Seems like there are still some registry keys left. You need to run both registry cleaner and driver cleaner. If you didn't run the CCleaner, do it. If you did, then even CClean missed something. I'd run it again, anyway, without rebooting into safe mode.
Before running the cleaner, uninstall the ATI tools.
Run the CClean (including the registry ).
Try installing the ATI set again. -
So i run the app cleaner and the Registry cleaner? I just ran the Registry cleaner but i'll try.
-
any1 try driver sweeper?
-
Yep that's gonna be the next one if ccleaner fails.
-
Tried and cleaned everything that needed to be clean still did the same thing....
Okay i ran it it removed the files it did something..But NOW NOW...it STILL won't install CCC IT STILL does the same damn thing..NOW my screen is completely ruined...GOD...how hard is it to upgrade one DAMN DRIVER!? -
Then try this one
-
I edited the post above..
-
I know it's frustrating, but did you try a fresh install?
-
If you mean a fresh install of ATI yes i did. It did the same thing yet again. It won't install the CCC, or anything else. and now my screen looks retarded. -.- Its all fat and crap..
-
No, I mean a fresh W7 install.
-
I really rather not..I mean all that just for a driver? I rather go back to Dell Drivers before being forced to do a full Windows 7 install.. *Sigh*
-
Wait a sec, after removing the ATI package, do you still have those directories on C (ATI, AMD)? If yes, try removing them and then running the installer again.
-
Okay i'll try but I dont think it'll work...Should i remove the c++ Microsoft thingy?
Nope still CCC isn't there -.- -
Leave it...
-
Alright...Still won't Install it...Im gonna remove the Windows Drivers and see if that changes anything...
Nope doesn't change anything....Im on the edge of returning this Laptop and building a Desktop...
*Sigh* I'm returning it. I've had enough. I manually updated the driver through Device manager. So now it isn't Microsoft drivers its ATI's but i STILL DONT HAVE CCC. God I've had enough. I'm going to call them today and return it. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I tried MANY things and ended up just reverting back to an old image of the drive from before I ran driver sweeper. It installed without a hitch then....I blame driver sweeper
To Dell's credit....this probem is not theirs but ATI's. No matter what I was always able to load the Dell drivers -
Even with Dells Driver i have no CCC...Driver sweeper removes all the Registry's of the Microsoft drive...but it doesn't help me get ATI's CCC working...
-
Sorry to hear that,m8. I still think the clean install would make you happy. Another 30min of your time, basic install, chipset, video driver, and you could fix it.
-
TBH i think its the installer....Cause yeah in the extracted folder i see no CCC Installer...Anyway
(Whats with our names Being red? Like a April fools day joke to make us all look like admins? Lol)
Actually your right. Im going to format and fix this.. -
I was looking at that aswell..?
-
Well now after a format it still won't install the drivers correctly it now wnt connect to the internet (I have the wlan driver in) and now it bsod everytime I poke it...So yeah *Sigh* I have a brick now..lovely..I have to send this on my sidekick -.- I can't call Dell till tuesday after easter...just lovely...
-
Sorry to hear that man. I think you should try to fix it yourself.
If you post which BSOD you're getting maybe we might help.
Also, what do you mean it won't connect to the internet ?
Did you follow the right steps to install the drivers (Chipset, and then all the rest) ? -
Chipset then the others. It tries to connect then goes "No connection" My modem is working fine...it isn't the cable so I don't know what it is...I can't get the error cause the bsod reboots the laptop too quickly for me to find out were its coming from I'll try and get it..all I wanted was to run the 10.3 drivers is that serirously too hard to ask?
-
Ikuto, i understand your frustration, but let's kill the problems one by one and maybe you'll end up with a functioning system soon
To disable automatic restart :
1. right click My Computer -> Properties
2. Advanced system settings
3. Advanced Tab
4. under startup and recovery press Settings
5. Uncheck automatically restart and press ok. -
Okay done that. Now what? (Also if you have MSN/Yahoo it probably would be better to talk on there etc cause Im on sidekick it lags craploads)
-
Well for all those with the 10.3 driver problems, here what I did.
I just did a fresh install on my M17x-r2, and when I got to install the 10.3 ATIs, it installed.... nothing. I haven't done any sweeper or anything, since I saw the posts of Joker about that. And I remember seeing somewhere on this thread that the new 10.3 have difficulties intalling when no other previous drivers are found.
So I just installed my 10.3 PREVIEW drivers, wich installed perfectly, then installed 10.3 over it, without sweeping or anything else, and it worked perfectly.
Wish this will help. -
now try to reproduce the bsod and you will see the blue screen as long as you want.
write down all the parameters.
also, please note that the bsod will create a memory dump. it will tell you where it is.. so save it too and post it.
i also pm'ed you... -
Maybe Bluescreenview would be a easier thing for him to use.Ikuto bluescreenview is easy app to use help diagnose your issue link below.

i use windows debugging tools to parse it.
++rep for that
Oops, can't rep you.. i need to spread some rep before
-
that app is quick and easy to use .
-
The bsod have seemed to repair themselves I can't make it bring back the bsod for some reason...either way that's one problem gone for the time being...now onto the inernet problem..
-
Ikuto
dL that app run it take some screens -
Do you see the network adapter installed in Device Manager?
When you plug in the network cable do you see the led blinking (on the port)?
