It's the second time you give me a very good answer, I will rep you again as soon as I spread some

    *EDIT*
unfortunately I still have to press the power button to force the shut down (even if I restart windows it won't POST)
The thing is that I have physically removed the bluetooth card... I hope it's not what is causing troubles...

That's right scook, but if those issues remain I see it going back. It's a new one it's not refurbished...

for the story, restoring the default values, not only for the wifi/BT/etc... fixed the POST issue. Still though the BIOS has to be fixed

    Thanks mfractal,

I just got the full version of 3Dmark06 AND vantage. I want to ask, what settings should I do for the benchmarking in both softwares so that I can see the performance of my system?

    Wow this screen is bright!

Kinda concerned though after switching over from a much dimmer screen though that it might be TOO bright, as in, hurting my eyes.

Could this just be a problem with my room being naturally too dim or color calibration?

Thanks man! I hadn't realized that was the shortcut.

I think it might be bothering me because the lights in here are somewhat dim already, so my irises are trying to open wider when I look away, and then get too much light when I look back.

I'll have to check what kind of light bulb I've got in here.

EDIT: Plus, pull out the manual to see what other nice shortcuts I'm missing out on...

I had that exact same feeling for my first few days with this laptop.

So either I fried my eyes or I got used to it now because I didn't change any settings.

Is there any proven advantage of the 940xm over the 920xm since the 920xm has the unlocked multi? Or can you only change the turbo multi?

the 940xm is overclockable via bios as well, just need bios support for it to work properly.( use the correct multipliers)

Don't know who all gets the MicroCenter distributable in the mail, but they now have the M17x R2 with the following specs (not on website yet):

    i7 720qm
    Dual 5870m
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    4GB DDR3
    500GB 7200rpm HDD
    Blu-Ray Reader/Combo Drive
    WXGA+ screen :)()
    Dell 1520 Wireless

    $2,399.99

This is like $150 cheaper than from Alienware but lacks the all important RGBLED screen :(

You can always call them up and find a way to get that screen replaced.. RGBLED rocks and i wish it was like 330 nits, i wonder when notebookcheck is going to do a review of that screen.

Damn.. that's still a good price... might have to go buy one, rip out the 5870s, drop my 4870s in and return it...

and me posting this here and this happening somewhere are purely a coincidence :)

Still amazed how low the temps are on the Arrandale proc. One of these days will re,paste with As5 or Mx-3 see if i can improve on these temps.Outside temps today is 18c, humidity 61%.Took temps about 1 hour after booting system, all i was doing was checking e.mails.If any Dell/Alienware reps reading this any chance we can get the chipset temps sorted in a future bios, Intel PCH always reads 59c which is a invalid reading that never changes.Maker of HWiNFO32 said that the sensor was not properly calibrated by the bios.

20C on the HDD? Your ambient is the reason for low temps.
Here is a screenie of my temps, ambient is ~25C. And I put AS-5 on the CPU (lowered by 10C)

Question for ya all, what, if any TV tuner card you all use in your systems. I am debating getting one and wonder any one have any reccomendations. Just a note, I dont have a TV at home, so no cable TV service, that would need to work with a over the air signal.
