When She runs, I think it's around 100FPS, ould be wrong, tonight I get out the camera and snap a photo of it. I'm not talking average, just where she's running toward the camera. But yea, my wife hates her too :D

only need to know what one thing....what is the number of frames when she jumps from the platform to the box over the water.(right when she lands)
and running along the platform will produce 100+ fps as well...

    so that's 2800 right?
in your case...to find out how well the card will do in that machine... run vantage using only cpu's 1/2/3/4 and then try just 1/2. this should give you the juice you need to see what they can do...without the psu jumping in the way. and only run gt 1/2

Oh, wait, I misread your post. Thought you were talking about when the box lands in the water, prior to boarding the boat for the escape.

Are you saying turning hyperthreading off? Or disabling cores 2,3 and only running on cores 0,1?

you can turn it off or just set it in task manager to see. im a bit curious if this will make any difference. test one is core and test 2 is mem. 800/1100 should be do able right out the gate. gpu test can really run off of one core. and have virtually no effect on gpu scores.

Ok, I may play with it a bit. Run it on one core, stock TDP. Wonder if I ran it at something like 35W TDP how it would affect it. Probably drop the score a little. What would be nice is if I could touch the keyboard during the test. Then set throttle stop to switch profiles with a leystroke and switch profiles as the CPU tests begin to load. That would be ideal.

Dannyboy, are you using throttle stop and flashing your vbios to 1.15v?

Use RBE bios editor and change the 3d voltage to 1.15. you need to type it in. Then you can easily hit 900/1200. I benched my 5870s at 1010/1310.

Thanks for the advice , I know that the stock voltage at 1.05 can only get me so far. That's why I plan to use TRIXX to increase the voltage as you say , BTW it's a software OC so that I can't brick my VGAs :D. Guess I'll give it another try before going to sleep :|

Nice. And scook would be the QX9300 expert. He got it up to 4.333ghz. Not stable of course but pretty impressive. And benched vantage at 4.16ghz. Get some rest :D

    ***LEADER BOARDS UPDATE***
Great job Kenny27 on taking the top R2/Overall Vantage and 3DMark11 slots! Great job in being the first person in a long time to hit the 3DMark06 leaderboard as well.

Dannyboy2609 - Great job on the innovation of getting 5870's operational in the R1. Nice job taking the Top R1 Vantage spot, and forcing the addition of a new catagory to the R1 leaderboards - 3DMrk11. Hopefully this will renew some competition among loyal R1 owners.

@kenny - I don't believe so, that was the downfall (in my opinion) of the new 6900 series cards. Probably since they were so power hungry to begin with. Thats what I loved about the 5870s. With an overvolt, I was able to achieve over a 40%+ overclock from stock. 1.05v 700MHz/900MHz -> 1.15v 1010MHz/1310MHz. Of course dry ice helped me push past 950MHz/1250MHz.

I was semi stable at 4.33 GHz. It was not passing any long tests or 3DMark06. 4.16 could bench everything I threw at it but suffered from the ruined memory bandwidth in most tests - I saw alot of tests do barely better at 4.16 GHz compared to 3.33 GHz

Ditto! I would have loved to bench the QX9300 on dice.

And get those GPU clocks higher! 915/1230 ;)

I think that voltage was the problem more than temps on the QX9300. Because 4.33 would just crash at 1.5V which was all I could give it. I ran at 4.16 with 1.5V and temps were not out of control. I think I saw 65c max in the freezer and that was without fan control. If HWInfo32 fan control works it can get much colder

Yea, very true. Probably wouldn't have made much difference. The thing I like about using dice, is that it keeps the components cold enough, that the fans never spin. Therefore, when dealing with a 240w adaptor, it means that you free up a few watts for more GPU headroom. Though I'm not so sure I'll put the 6990's on dice, at least not until I get some more gummy eraser to be sure no condensation can get through. I think that may have been what killed a set of my 5870's

I locked myself in a wine cellar for the whole 3 hours to achieve those score ( at about 12 Degrees , i thinks ) and these CPU temp
    [IMG]

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

That's why I don't dare push it higher . What you're asking me is not only to kill my system , but to kill its owner as well :D . And I think the scook is right , it is the thermal design power that locks out the Qx9300 , not the tempature. Come to think of it , why is the Qx9300 has a TDP of 45W but , the 920Xm's is 55W , is it a little bit unfair :( ?

Notice I've just killed all the R3 with my R1 =))

The extremes of the Core 2 generation on the desktop were lower wattage as well. It is just not as power hungry an architecture. Keep in mind that there is no memory controller included in that TDP number. The higher IPC of Nehalem comes from a new core design that uses more transistors leading to higher power use. And those 55W chips are regularly being pushed north of 100W when overclocked haha

Is that 12f or 12c? Because your temps are definitely too high. Have you repasted the CPU?

It is 12 C , I chose the warmest place in the cellar . Is the temp too high ? . Well , I didn't repaste the CPU ever since I had bought the system ( almost year now )

Funny you mention that scook, lastnight I was benching and my CPU I had pulling just over 112w.

Also Dannyboy, you might want to readjust the screws for your CPU heatsink while running wPrime 1024 and monitor temps. Having the screws to tight can sometimes warp the heatsink the slightest bit, giving it a concave shape and you lose the max surface area on the CPU die, which in turn reduces heat transfer.

But as scook said, your temps are too high. A repase would be good to do.

I would repaste and get colder. 12c aint that cold.....at least not as far as "extreme" cooling goes hehe.

My chest freezer was about 0f which is about -18c ambient. So I am starting out 30c colder than you right off the bat.

I also had decent results benching on my front porch in the winter when it was about 10-15f outside.

The 460m unfortunately isnt that great anymore, so its not relevant for benching. Nowadays its 580, 6970 and 6990's.

So what GPU drivers is everyone using. I just realized lastnight that I was benching on Catalyst 11.6 Debating on whether or not to upgrade. Has there been any improvement with newer drivers from 11.6? Might try and get some more benching done this weekend.

The scores in my sig are with 11.5. Catalyst 11.6 improved Vantage in more than 100 points, 3dMark11 in 9 points. 11.8 gave me no significant imrovement in bechmarks, 11.9 gave me nothing in Vantage, but in 3dMark 11 I got 40 points boost and I can say 11.9 is the best in games performing driver at the moment. At least on my system :)

for me is more important performance in games but the first thing I do after installing a new driver is running Vantage and 3d11 :D
11.9 is definitely worth trying for both benching and gaming
