Nice run man, my best single card run is around P17040 or so. I just can't get my cards to clock much higher than 840. And thats not too stable. I'll try and update tonight when I post my latest slew of benches :p

yeah it was done with dice.

think i'm done benching the 6990 for now, unless there is some kind of break though with the voltage.

awesome run wiidezu!!! imagine that with a 2820 or higher.

Yeah and that was without any aux cooling. Man I need that 2860QM. There's one seller on ebay but I'd rather OEM unfortunately because I'm like that :(

this here is very damn impressive!
all you need is an es 2920xm and you might be the first 19k gpu score....speculation of course... :)

Very Nice man!! What's your secret? this is indeed with stock BIOS right?

DId you experience any throttling at any point when attempting Vantage with those clocks?

What were the GPU max temps?

Sorry for all the questions bro, congratz!!

No, it is with the overvolted vbios plus the throttling removal using the blind flash method. My secret is to use HWInfo64 to force the fans on full before you start the run. As you can see, with the elevated back, the max temp was only 67C.

The PPU is off in the 3DMark Vantage settings which stops the nvidia from using physx. Futuremark put it as default since update 1.1 to prevent nvidia bias. If I had it on, the CPU score would be like 50k :D

Ahh, ok makes sense. Glad Futuremark is doing that now. I thought the fact that Physix was on, and the score was resonable, that something was differant

Can you urn it on and run the same settings? I'd like to see how that would affect the overall score just for kicks.

I haven't much time at the moment but I'll do it. I won't even overclock at all. The GPU will be unaffected but the CPU will go through the roof.
Edit: Here is another user's vantage run when he left the PPU option on. As you can see by the CPU score...well it's self explanatory really.

19k GPU score is a bit hopeful. Maybe with a i7 2860QM I can hit 23k CPU and 18K GPU which may get me a 19k overall score. Maybe some quicker ram too :D

Lets see how far we can push this thing! Managed to get 18k GPU. A few performance tweaks such as using Game Booster to turn off other processes. I also OC'd the bclk to 106.0Mhz which is the highest it will go any higher would result in a reset. Got a decent boost for the 2630QM almost gaining on some 2720QM's though still can't match users with 2820QM's let alone those XM users in the M18x forums. Max temps 68C on the GPU and 70C on the CPU. PPU was off for CPU only calculations during the CPU tests.

running an extreme can add about 500 to 2000 points to a gpu score.. :)

and that 18k is looking great! considering you didn't alter the card in any way shape or form.

Hopefully upgrading to a 2860QM soon which has higher turbos than the 2920XM plus with the OC'd bclk, I can potentially achieve speeds higher than the base 2960XM.

Oh and the GPU isn't quite untouched, it has been flashed with a vbios with a higher voltage but other than that, and a repaste, everything else is how I received it from Dell.

when i say altered...i mean you didn't go and put extra chips on the pcb. :) i know it's been flashed up to .92V. flashing is more of the norm...taking a soldering iron to the card isn't :D

not sure why you would want a 2860 though.
and i hate to bust your bubble..but no chip under a 2920xm can touch it.. :D :D
and this isn't even the highest score for this chip... :)

Yeah I know but despite having unlocked multipliers in the XM CPUs, only the M18x can manipulate them. The unlocked multiplier otpion will be wasted so the 2920XM will be stuck at 3.2/3.4/3.5Ghz on 4/2/1 cores respectively @ 55w where as the 2860QM has 3.4/3.5/3.6Ghz @ just 45w which means less power draw, less heat and MOAR for the GPU. I know the 2920XM is quick but without unlocked multipliers, the increase in power draw isn't justified in the R3.

Thanks, I chose the 2860QM route just to be safe with it being officially released for the R3 and all. I like the 45w compared to the 55w in terms of battery life too. I've gone 3D so I have no optimus which means I need to scrape as much battery as I can out of what I got.

Yeah, frankly, I've owned the 920XM and fiddling with it, finding the perfect spot in the OC is a bit of a hassle now. I'd rather just get on with it. Straight forward.

Thanks! Been trying to get all the benching I can done lately. That way once it's done I can get to the real reason I got the cards, Some gaming. As long as I've had this system, I've done a suprisingly small amount of gaming. :p Too much of a benching addict. Hopefully I'll be done benching soon. Though I always think of new things I missed or more benching to get done. I want to try and beat my 3DMark06 score. Going to do a quick mod to put the CPU at 1.4v, but then I need dice, and to do all that required a few hours of time. :p

Try Throttlestop. I would expect your 2920xm to return a higher score on Test 5 (Physics test). The 2820qm generally does 23-24.5fps, although maybe the 580M is starving the CPU for power.
