Nice run man, my best single card run is around P17040 or so. I just can't get my cards to clock much higher than 840. And thats not too stable. I'll try and update tonight when I post my latest slew of benches![]()

Man I need a better CPU
Here's an official request for a 580m section please. Max temps where 67C

yeah it was done with dice.
think i'm done benching the 6990 for now, unless there is some kind of break though with the voltage.
awesome run wiidezu!!! imagine that with a 2820 or higher. -
Yeah and that was without any aux cooling. Man I need that 2860QM. There's one seller on ebay but I'd rather OEM unfortunately because I'm like that
-
all you need is an es 2920xm and you might be the first 19k gpu score....speculation of course... -
DId you experience any throttling at any point when attempting Vantage with those clocks?
What were the GPU max temps?
Sorry for all the questions bro, congratz!! -
No, it is with the overvolted vbios plus the throttling removal using the blind flash method. My secret is to use HWInfo64 to force the fans on full before you start the run. As you can see, with the elevated back, the max temp was only 67C.
-
Wowzers! Nice!
BTW, 2860QM is about 660 + shipping (OEM) -
Shouldn't the Nvidia cards be benched without Physix?
-
The PPU is off in the 3DMark Vantage settings which stops the nvidia from using physx. Futuremark put it as default since update 1.1 to prevent nvidia bias. If I had it on, the CPU score would be like 50k
-
Ahh, ok makes sense. Glad Futuremark is doing that now. I thought the fact that Physix was on, and the score was resonable, that something was differant
Can you urn it on and run the same settings? I'd like to see how that would affect the overall score just for kicks. -
-
Lets see how far we can push this thing! Managed to get 18k GPU. A few performance tweaks such as using Game Booster to turn off other processes. I also OC'd the bclk to 106.0Mhz which is the highest it will go any higher would result in a reset. Got a decent boost for the 2630QM almost gaining on some 2720QM's though still can't match users with 2820QM's let alone those XM users in the M18x forums. Max temps 68C on the GPU and 70C on the CPU. PPU was off for CPU only calculations during the CPU tests.Attached Files:

running an extreme can add about 500 to 2000 points to a gpu score..
and that 18k is looking great! considering you didn't alter the card in any way shape or form. -
Oh and the GPU isn't quite untouched, it has been flashed with a vbios with a higher voltage but other than that, and a repaste, everything else is how I received it from Dell. -
i know it's been flashed up to .92V. flashing is more of the norm...taking a soldering iron to the card isn't
not sure why you would want a 2860 though.
and i hate to bust your bubble..but no chip under a 2920xm can touch it..
and this isn't even the highest score for this chip...
-
Yeah I know but despite having unlocked multipliers in the XM CPUs, only the M18x can manipulate them. The unlocked multiplier otpion will be wasted so the 2920XM will be stuck at 3.2/3.4/3.5Ghz on 4/2/1 cores respectively @ 55w where as the 2860QM has 3.4/3.5/3.6Ghz @ just 45w which means less power draw, less heat and MOAR for the GPU. I know the 2920XM is quick but without unlocked multipliers, the increase in power draw isn't justified in the R3.
-
so no one at bios mods has unlocked the menu?
this says it's been unlocked, but you need an extreme to see these other options though. or is this not right and it's something else?

side note:
asking now for you -
Thanks, I chose the 2860QM route just to be safe with it being officially released for the R3 and all. I like the 45w compared to the 55w in terms of battery life too. I've gone 3D so I have no optimus which means I need to scrape as much battery as I can out of what I got.
-
ummm..you can drop that cpu to 4.3 watts if you want...
and we get 5+ hours on the m18 -
Yeah but you guys have switchable graphics. With the 120Hz screen, us 3D lot are stuck with dedicated GFX all the time
-
still..i would ask around again...that unlocked menu bios might have your answer if you haven't looked it over...seems it was posted last month though. -
Yeah, frankly, I've owned the 920XM and fiddling with it, finding the perfect spot in the OC is a bit of a hassle now. I'd rather just get on with it. Straight forward.

Here is the best I could do, or at least that I've tried so far, havn't had a chance to bench as much as I wanted.

nice scores!

DR back as TOP DOG oles!
Congrats man.
Cheers. -
Just tried 850 core on my 580m. Crash
gonna maybe try 845 later. Still though, I'm very happy with my 18k score. Top of the boards
-
Wow. It may not be the highest score but i just downloaded a08 modded bios and tweaked some things now when my processor is under load it only runs at 2.74 ghz on all 4 cores. got my 06 score up from 14.3k to 15.5k with no gpu overclock

AMD Radeon HD 6850M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,Alienware M17xR3 score: 17740 3DMarks
Pretty stoked with that -
Too much of a benching addict. Hopefully I'll be done benching soon. Though I always think of new things I missed or more benching to get done. I want to try and beat my 3DMark06 score. Going to do a quick mod to put the CPU at 1.4v, but then I need dice, and to do all that required a few hours of time.

-
Sweet score worldedit!! Now it's time to overclock the CPU as well... You should at least be able to get 19k total score with your system, maybe 20k.
-
NO! I have been dethroned! I guess that new CPU isn't coming quick enough. Why does it take so long for funds to clear into my bank?!

Great score, Worldedit. Nice introduction to the forum.
-
wow great first run Worldedit. congrats
-

-
first one was a 2920xm (es) and dual 6990M. -
well.... gtx580m very weak on 3d mark 11... anyone know wat happen to it???
max i can get is 4555 -
nice scores you got there.
what tools you´re using to overlock the 580M anyway? -
but ati 6990m able to clock til 4645 it almost 100 different with mine
-
Yeah I can't get anything over around 4555 either. I also have a lower CPU, I'll see what a higher can do.
-
Nice score worldedit, I updated it on the leaderboard.
-
here my 3d mark 11... still cant beat the ati hd6990m
835/1900 GTX580m
-
Nice, Still in second place, I updated it as well.
-
-
the reason why...amd can force tessellations off or far lower than the test is suppose to run at in 3dmark11
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Try Throttlestop. I would expect your 2920xm to return a higher score on Test 5 (Physics test). The 2820qm generally does 23-24.5fps, although maybe the 580M is starving the CPU for power.
