Coolio. My chips struggles @4.5Ghz with 6 flex.

With tess on or at least with tess set as AMD optimised please, pretty much equal to on and you might get a small boost and I, as an nvidia user, will not see it as cheating :D

Looks good. I guess 7k in 11 with Tess on is the new giant leap to overcome then :)

1020/1550 seems like the max I can do for Vantage. But yeah, 7k Tess on and 26k Vantage once better drivers arrive. I am done for a while now, a damn while. :p

I'm adamant I can get 26k from a cold boot, this result is after a few hours of benching so everything is quite hot. :)

Nice! 7970 is a beast! Although I had a 27K GPU score :D but there is no way a 920XM/940XM can keep up. Believe me, I've tried :p I'd love to see what I could do if we had no throttling limits :( a 330W PSU would be amazing and complete the R2 package :p

But still, 24K Single card  You found a way to OC the card? How? I've been busy and havn't been around much lately, pregnancy complications

Reminds me of the best cards I've ever benched. A pair of 5870s. I took those from a stock clock of 700/100 to 1010/1315. Beast cards.

    Insane hey DR! :D

Its so annoying atm trying to not have the PSU crap out on me when trying to bench with the dual 6990Ms. The PSU also gets super hot real quickly just as I'm starting to pick up some steam and headway.

Atm its either the CPU is eating too much power or the GPU is taking too much and the CPU doesn't have enough juice. Quite the juggling act to get the settings right ey! :p ;)

I can't wait to see what 2x 7970Ms can do in the R2 though! Hopefully the power draw and less heat will be more kinder on the PSU.

    Cheers. :)

DR650, Good luck with the pregnancy!!

Check out my 7970m install guide for the details...i added an overclocking section a few days again...its actually a known technique. I almost gave up but thank god these cards can overclock or i would have felt so ripped off lol

Essentially, unlock the limits on afterburner and then go to town on the OC

the 7970m will tapp out around 1ghz core 1.5ghz vram

LOL...with no tess, I got over 7K on 3dmark11. I'm happy with that. I wanted to see a 7 and that's it. There's no point trying to compete with a 4.5ghz cpu. I can't do that as I sold my 2920xm

HAHA! :D True that, I totally forgot GEO was running on the Extreme! :p
Now Fox has released some info; it seems Dell should have some parts out soon.......hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Good Luck with the Pregnancy DR! There will be plenty of time to come, late nights where you can bench and bub can keep you up, I mean company lol!
You know your quite right, The original pair of 5870Ms I had were pretty awesome OC's too, they used to reach super high clocks and play very nicely. Until I sold them off lol.

Yeah the XM CPU does give a nice final touch to the overall score.. worth the hassle tweaking and whatnot. Slick, why did you buy your XM CPU just to sell it? You promised benchmarks, man... promises.. Seems like widezu is my only fair challenger. :(

Increasing voltage would be too sick, would help R3 users a lot. Shame that AMD have stopped that since the legendary 5870Ms!

I played around with it but the heat was too much of a pain to deal with.

So i sold it at a profit...huge profit.

i'm not really a bencher. I want to be able to run the newest games maxxed and i wanted to see 7K in 11 and i did (albeit without tess). So unfortunately, i'm not the competition that you want. But soon, once the 7970's start popping up and 680's in the future, i'm sure you will get plenty ;)

DR, I thought you would've been one of those with a modded PSU - ? :D

O-M-GOSH! How the heck did you manage THAT?! 800/1100 is all I can push mine to before I start seeing black triangles! Did you just get lucky with the cards or have some awesome cooling or what?!

And... will you be getting a 7970M? I wanna se some R2 users play with this thing already! I shall live vicariously through my R2 brothers! :)

EDIT:- gd luck with the pregnancy! Having recently gone through it myself, it can be an awesome/nervous time for sure.

My fellow British R2 brother - I eagerly await the delivery of your 7970M just as much as you do - god speed! :D

Some one point me in the direction of a Dell 7970m. I don't want to buy from Eurocom and I would rather a Dell card for personal reasons, nothing against Clevo/Eurocom. If I can secure one, then I'll pull the trigger on a 60Hz screen that I'm currently sitting on.

I've never understood how texture settings affect gaming performance.

    >>> I'm assuming if you whack up the texture settings, you will use up more gfx memory - so what would happen if you don't have enough memory to go around? Or am I saying something really dumb? :D

If you are within your vram limit then the game will work normally with no FPS impact (doesn't matter what setting you have texture sizes on, obviously highest is best), but if you pass your vram limit the game will begin to lag terribly...

It's very hard to pass the 2GB of vram that newer cards have, the max I have ever seen was probably 1.6GB in Skyrim, and that is with ultra high res textures for almost everything. :p

Right. What about when you can see textures streaming/popping in as you play? Is that related to pushing the vram limits?

That's usually related to the game engine or limitations of it... It used to happen in Rage before it was patched/tweaked I think. Just monitor your vram load on GPU-Z or something, and if it doesn't pass your limit you will be fine.

does it affect the fps alot? i heard that you can play skyrim maxed out @ 1080p with 70-80 fps..

Well with the 7970M at 1Ghz/1400 and Ultra 1080p, FPS is like 70-100 in Whiterun lol. With ENB it's like 45-70. So yes, a lot.

ENBseries is a massive graphical enhancment mod by http://www.enbdev.com/description_en.htm that is fully customisable by the user. The 3 below are just some of many popular presets.

"Special features include a custom ENB 0.102 profile, a custom Realistic Lighting With Customization 3.4 profile, Bokeh Depth of Field, Performance SSAO, Quality SSAO, Film Grain, Cinematic Aspect Ratio and Sharpening. All features can be mixed and matched according to your preferences/PC specs."

They make the game look amazing. Just check the screenshots.

Fimbulvinter ENB at Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim Mods and community

I am using Fimbulvinter ENB at the moment, it's beautiful - some parts of my game look like Crysis 2. :)

I was able to improve it a bit. Something was not quite right with the previous OS installation.

Great bench scores on the 7970M guys. Very awesome results.

Has anyone tried Virtu software to see if it is compatible with the on-they-fly graphics? It might even be interesting to see how this would do with 6990M or GTX 580M if it works. (It does not work with the M18x because the IGP and GPUs are not active simultaneously. An IGP must be present for it to work.) I did test DynamiX running on the HD 3000 and was very surprised to find Skyrim was, in fact, playable on the IGP. http://www.lucidlogix.com/

Ready for summer benching? 10k BTU worth of CPU cooling should come in handy.
