LOL, the power on hours of your SSD are missing the 1K
-
looking good. i told you it was something minor holding down your over clocking.
-
Yea, I started benching with the 8GB. Couldn't get as high with the stock M17x RAM. But I started upping the SetFSB slowly while loading the CPU, and once I got it high enough, I'd unload the CPU, let it jump, validate, and drop the OC down considerably for stability purposes. I should pick up some decent RAM though. It's an area I've always neglected.
Also found that wPrime benches better once turbo is shut off. Since the program doesn't make use of the turbo feature, turning it off reduces the chances for instability since the multi isn't jumping all over the place. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Since wPrime is threaded turbo wont do much. You should benefit from it though since it should raise all cores 1 bin when loaded. I believe SuperPi and PiFast are both not threaded though, so Turbo Boost will help alot there -
Hmm, I might have to rerun the benches... explain bin, I'm in a learning mood. Not really sure what that is. I know when I ran it with turbo enabled, it sat at 12 Multi, and the same was true with turbo disabled.
-
ummm...and just what type of numbers are you getting with this "disabled turbo" for wprime 32m?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
bin = 1x multiplier
lol -
These were the best I could pull off. Anything higher and I crashed hitting setfsb. Couldn't get it to run at my CPU-Z speed. Run a quick bench you'll see what I mean.
-
those numbers are looking pretty damn good there!
-
Yea, I think it might help. You should give it a shot. Might be able to up your numbers a tad. Watching CPU-Z during a bench was an "Aha!" moment for me.
-
hummm, still couldnt beat my 12.745
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
There are clearly tweaks we do not know here for wPrime if the T7200 was any indicator for me lol
-
in the case of the t7200...you just need to be below zero.
as to all my laptop benching.. its done right on the nzxt at normal temps.
nothing fancy. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
With the T7200 that did not explain the difference between my scores and the top ones when I had a sizeable clock advantage
-
We gotta figure out those tweaks. But my benching is on the Cryo cooler as well. Running an A/C in the room, but not going crazy.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Did you look at the T7200 wPrime scores? You will see what I am talking about. I must have spent 10 hours just on that bench pulling my hair out going crazy trying to figure out how the hell their times were a full second faster than mine with slower clocks.
lol -
i thought we had this talk already?
wPrime 32m - 26sec 824ms - johnksss (EVGA Enthusiasts) - (Intel Core 2 T7200 (2.0Ghz) @3182MHz)
12.6 points - over cocked hella high
wPrime 32m - 28sec 730ms - TASOS (Hellas Overclocking Team) - (Intel Core 2 T7200 (2.0Ghz) @2882MHz)
9.8 points - super low timings and not just 4-4-4-4 but the other 10 or so settings involved with it.
wPrime 32m - 28sec 810ms - totophe (JMax-Hardware) - (Intel Core 2 T7200 (2.0Ghz) @2784.6MHz)
8 points - windows 98
wPrime 32m - 29sec 781ms - scook9 (EVGA Enthusiasts) - (Intel Core 2 T7200 (2.0Ghz) @2941.5MHz)
6.8 points
wPrime 32m - 29sec 860ms - joe90br (Team Adrenaline) - (Intel Core 2 T7200 (2.0Ghz) @2784.8MHz) - super low timings as well.
not much more to explain? -

I guess I am just limited

Just submitted my benches of the i7 Q720M to HWBot. Sorry John, had to take you down a few notches
Had a good night. Also missed 1st in SuperPi 32M by .031 sec. Tommorrow I'll pick it up if my cpu is nice to me like it was tonight. Then it's on to the i5 540M, followed by the 920XM and 940XM again. I think I can get a little more out of them in terms of 3D and 2D benches. Gotta reclaim my hardware.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I aint letting you have the SU7300!
haha -
Haha, no chance I' taking it
1.6GHz
i7 720 actually netted me some extra points (due to number of submissions) to put me back where i was prior to losing 16 gold cups.
I need to get more common hardware.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Ya common hardware is where it is at. The T7200 was a gold (and silver) mine for me and John haha
I am kind of disappointed in how few Q9000 submissions there are, thought it would be very common -
great job!
i had to check to see if you jacked some gold cups from me, but you didn't...lol
You lost -0.5 hardware points for your SuperPi 32m.
. damn!
i almost grabbed a socket p board today...but decided to wait...
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Thought you already had a socket p mini itx that worked with setfsb? -
nope, dont have a socket p...only two socket m's
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Gotcha. What socket P were you looking at? I have a handful of low end socket p chips I do not intend to bench
-
the one from jetway. it had bios over clocking and voltage adjustments.
-
Oh ehahaha
WOW nice GPU score there in VANTAGE!!!
Nice scores there DR. I might have to try again once I get the air con cleaned and serviced. Temps are sure starting to get hot again over here.
Cheers.
-
we are all benching on laptop coolers. no a/c right now
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Well, not me haha
Chest Freezer
-
AH true trues. I might try with an AC cooler later thens as well. I have a heap of them lying around from previous years purchases. All sort of different ones lol. They are like cheap as chips in some countrys. I remember the 1st one I bought it was so expensive like $90 lol. Now my mate brings them back for like $5 each LOL.
HMMMMM air con room with notebook cooler underneath ehehe oles
Now all I need is some dry ice and liquid nitrogen LOL
Cheers.

RealTemp 3.59.7
http://www.mediafire.com/?s7wlkkrm08386fg
I decided to add the turbo multipliers and turbo TDP/TDC stuff into the RealTemp program as an alternative for some users to using ThrottleStop. It might be useful when benching. If there is anyone left here with a Core i Extreme installed, let me know if it works OK. Just right click on the system tray and you should be able to find the Turbo option. I think the i7-620M will let you adjust the TDP/TDC as well but not the multipliers. -
unclewebb - Downloaded and installed. Will be doing some testing tommorrow probably, but was able to bring it up. Can't test it since I have a 720M installed, but will be doing more 920/940 benching tommorrow.
reborn2003 - Yea I just flashed the GPU's real quick, just doing it on the notebook cooler. Nothing fancy. But 3DMark06 likes CPU much more than GPU overclocks. You can see that my GPU OC didn't do to much -
Yeh very true that. I did notice your scores were only a few hundred above mine when I tried the other day. So I thought it was just the OC in GPU difference. 3d mark really is CPU intensive and luvs the CPU lol.
So what you on to next. Finished with the 720 for good now is it? time to sell?
Cheers.
-
I'm going to bench it a little more, still some scores on HWbot that I want to beat, if I can resovle the issue I just ran into 5 min ago.
Issue:
Was running furmark on OCed GPUs 1.15v 910/1230, and it locked up. No problem, I force a restart, now I can't get the bios to post, fans speed up, and the capslock/scroll lock are flashing, while the numlock is on. I can't even get back in to reflash the GPUs
Did the power drain, cleared the CMOS, any other ideas? I'm going to take it apart after work if I need to.
I'll replace the memory later and see if it boots. If it does I'll test each sodimm in each slot to narrow down. Hopefully it's nothing bad and just needs a reseat.
Although I'd rather have a bad RAM slot than a sodimm simply because the warranty will cover the mobo and not the sodimm...
-
Oh i see i see. Yeh that flashing usually indicates the GPUs have some problem. Either crossfire or something is up with the GPUs. I've had those lights flash up before. I remember last time it happen to me, however one day it just went away lol. Very weird. So now I'm running all fine again. Very odd stuffs.
I too couldnt get a post at all. I had to open up the notebook reseat the GPUs and check the monitor cables. I too did the battery and cmos take out and hold the alien head for more than 30 secs. Eventually I got the Alien splash screen to post.
You should be able to get it to post after a bit of trying. Keep at it.
Then probs flash back down to a lower GPU OC. hmmmssssss.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/att...ot-lights-flickering-help-led-diagnostics.png
Cheers.
-
I think the isse might have been because I had an external monitor hooked up at the time and Furmark is so intense. I've benchmarked with much higher clocks, even ran Furmark. I'll figure it out this evening. Going to be wieghing on me for the next 5 hours lol
-
Ah true true I see. Yeh I hate the waiting game when you want to try and fix it straight away.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/att...ot-lights-flickering-help-led-diagnostics.png
Good Luck chiefs.
Cheers.
-
Hmm, thanks for the link. I'm getting the "video card preventing post"
I'm going to pull them and reseat them. Maybe that will work. If not than it looks like I'm out of a computer for the next month as my M11x hinge is totally busted and the dell replacement never arrived. Just going to have a lot of work for the dell techs when I get home.
-
you probably can get away with puling one of them or try taking off the crossfire cable
-
Yea, I think I will, once I can get it to boot, I can reflash. Just got a small hurdle to clear
Going to go slam a cheese burger and get to work. Having to use a computer at the rec facility isn't going to fly, i can't bench it. lol
-
yeah...i think they may sort of frown upon that sort of thing as well....lol
-
Well the good news is I'm up and running, mostly hobbling. So my CPU benching can continue. The bad news is my master kicked the bucket running furmark. I can't get it to boot or post with it in the system at all. I was able to move the slave over to the master, and that works. But there won't be any GPU benching for me for a while. At least until I get home.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Dam, that is harsh
You could always work on single 5870m numbers though lol....there are points to be had there as well! -
Thats the plan.
When I return home I'm going to give Dell a call. They already need to come out and replace my M11x screen since the hinge is busted bad. I won't even open it now. Probly ship it home tomorrow. I had called and they said they were mailing out a screen to me but in never came and thats been around 2 months.
Note to self: Scroll lock/caps lock blinking, num lock solid =
-
DR650SE, sorry to hear bud. Sucks being stuck in some desert where service access is non-existent. Were you blowing cool A/C air on it when running furmark or was it run on stock cooling? Those clocks are dangerous for stock cooling unless you have a retention mod on the GPU's.
-
It was on stock cooling with an external monitor as an extended desktop. I was watching the temps and it was around 80*C when it locked up. I havn't done the cooling mods, but I had never seen it above 74*C stock clocks. Once it locked I powered it off, and that was the end. Good news is I turned in my resignation letter a few days ago and should be home in less than a month. As long as I can still browse the web and watch movies I'm good. And the game I'm playing at the moment wasn't running in crossfire and I didn't look into that much, so I'm not too bummed on that front. I'll think twice about a high overclock/dual monitor furmark run next time. Maybe I can keep the dead GPU to hang above my desk to serve as a reminder. lol
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Most likely they will take back the GPU if a tech is sent.
