It is my storage drive. The 160gb ssd is my system drive.

oh right.. should have paid more attention haha.
i've been trying to find a 10,000 rpm drive, not having much luck. and ssd just doesn't have enough pace for me + pretty expensive at this time.

In theory a bare velociraptor should fit in the secondary hdd space with minor modification. It will be loud though. And carry no warranty on the drive itself since it is only supposed to be used with the 3.5" adaptor/tray.

Apparently you can get the bare drives now. Just search velociraptor in newegg. I would recommend the newer SATA 3 drives (they will work ok with the SATA 2 in the M17x though - no performance loss)

You need a 12 volt rail to run a raptor we only got a 5 volt rail on M17x.

the 3gb/s are closer to $300

you can get ssd's for cheap now...60/80/100/120 gb's
and run it as an os drive. not try to run everything you own from it.
and keep your my doc's folder on the second hard drive. since this is the folder holding damn near all your personal stuff. even game saves.
you can run the os/office/adobe/autocad/corel all from a 60 gig drive with plenty of space to spare. like 30 gigs of space left. (speculation, because it's been a while since i have done it.) and that's like a 100 bucks.
    but!
ys, there is a but. you have to get the ssd's with cache memory or you will get the stutters bad! the downfall going super cheap on an ssd.

Whats the secret to Aquamark? I can't get above 168, and there was only a 3K differance in my single GPU to dual GPU. I'll be setting up a new Benching SSD this evening on my second 160GB X25-M. Going to call Intel and see about getting the 40GB RMAed since it's well within the three year warranty. If not I might just pick up a second 40GB when I get home.

Well just spent 15 min (half on hold) on the phone with intel. They said to just mail the X25-V when I get back to the states and they will RMA it. Gave me a case #, so at lease I'll get a working drive out of it. Now I just need to set up my extra SSD to bench on. :p Going to do so now :D

ok will look into, still a benching noob,
still too cheap to shovel out $5 for setFSB, for true cpu oc'ing.
but t stop alone is pretty impressive.

Now start playing with setfsb, once you get that memory bandwidth up then scores get even better! (mainly the physx score)

The 4GB DDR3-1333 Cas 7 HyperX kit in particular. Unless you can get XMP working, then the 1866 stuff (which would be godly in a laptop)

maybe...it's a give and take when using setfsb..but it gives you room to be more precise with your over clock.

i have gotten as high as that as well...

I never thought I would be getting as far as I did with the GTX 280m's then I did a run that matched Mandrake (he was the top at the time - it was insane that we tied down to the point haha) and then a week or two later I beat it by a fair margin. He later beat me again....but after he had moved on to the 4870s I beat the score he had achieved. When everyone else got the R2 then I finally got the 4870s for my R1 and beat all the top scores for the R1. Then I laid low until July hehe, and you see what I did then :D

Hey, just checking in. My internet is down in the room and I'm too lazy to stop by the MWR to get online (except now) Just thought I'd see what I've missed the last few days.

On another note, looking for CPU scores? Let me throw out a quick reminder ;) I had a better one I think, lost it when my SSD died a week ago.

:p back to work for me. I can't post anything since the internet is down in my room, guess it gives me time to bench though. But I gotta get some sleep. Plenty of CPU swapping going on tommorrow.

Inap, those are great scores. I need to install Riva Tuner so I can push my clocks higher. Keep up the work man, lookin good. ;)
