i am sure i could beat mandrakes score if i knew so many for overclocking as he does.. :p

anyway it seems like trying for something just for the record. is anyone going to keep his machine at those overclocking levels? NO. so real life differs and real performance is lower. i really dont care as soon as i can play games flawlessly and this has been done with the 4870s . cheers and congratulations Mandrake

I love my machine honestly. I just want to buy another qx9300 to see if I can achieve a higher overclock on my cpu. Not for any records but for self satisfaction. At 3.087ghz. I'm getting 48xx constant on 06 cpu run....

    my system is ridcoulus stable.

guess I will have to get back to the benching sooner than I anticipated haha

so you are using 9.11 for 06 then Mandrake?
nvm, just saw you did that with 9.12

guess I will need to figure out how to finish a run at 3.5 on my QX9300 haha....dont think there is enough voltage in this thing though :(

I ran 3dmark and vantage with TURBO + Xtreme combined. NO flickering ...

Installing RE5 right now and try to max everything and bench. I will post update after one run.

To answer both of your questions it looks like the answer is yes.

There was one person with the 820 saying his video was scrolling. Don't know if it's the same thing.

What has been Dell's answer to your calls on the flickering? Are they doing a driver update? A BIOS update? Anything?

O.k. I just finished running RE5 Benchmark and this is what I noticed....

    1) a littlt stuttering
    2) Flickinering every 30 sec or so...

And here is one more thing that I noticed but not sure if it is the screen feature or windows 7.

While running RE5 Benchmark, the screen dimmed. Is that normal? I had to move my mouse to get the screen back to lighter from dim.

Can't answer the dimming question but you can go into advanced power schemes and turn any auto dimming off.

O.k. I went to check on the power scheme and The screen has a DIM feature. The reason why I am saying is because this is whats in the advance power settings

    Auto Dimming

    Battery: on
    Plugged In: Off

My laptop is plugged and it should not have dimmed.

So this is the same feature from the previous m17x-R1 where the screen dim by itself, and not the windows 7 auto Dim feature. oh boy...

Weird. First I thought it was auto contrast too in the scen where they was at the dock. The second time I let it dimed, i didn't touch my mouse, until it was dimed quite long. So I moved my mouse and it got lighter... weird

Going to install a Fresh copy of Win 7 and see if it has the same issue. BRB

when you get time...see if you can look at the bios...there may be some clues as to a possible fix in there.....

I'm getting less than 16,000 in 3dmark06. I don't see how you guys could be pulling off 18-19k without there being a problem with my cards.

I've formatted and put win7 ultimate x64 on along with mobility modded 9.12 (hotfix) drivers. 9.12 detected and enabled crossfire immediately after installing (i didn't have to pre-install dell's crappy drivers).

    Am I doing something wrong?

And its not just that your CPU score is higher than mine (which is to be expected). Your sm2 and hdr scores are way higher as well.

You're not doing anything wrong. 3dMark06 is CPU sensitive. Most of the 920s at stock clocks run a little over 18K. The 19-20K scores are with both CPU and GPUS overclocked.

Your score is right in line for an 820. There is no way to compete with the 920s.

Are you suffering any of the throttling or flickering/flashes seen by the 920s?
