*OFFICIAL* M17x Benchmark Thread - Part 3

I can't help but think I'm missing something big when it comes to aquamark. I spent a lot of time reading about it today at work and all I can figure is that I don't totally understand it. I've been stuck at 175K-185K. I tired several cores, one core, one thread, turbo boosting various threads ect. I didn't even bother saving a screenshot. I'm a man on a mission!

Yea, Win 7, havn't figured out how to install win xp yet. Didn't try much.

Here's my best shot. Single thread booted.

When I said I didn't save a screen shot I realized I had to go back and rebench it so I could at least take the silver. Jus a quick bench heres what I got. It might be a driver issue maybe?

 

you might need to set everything to default. then bench it and see what you get then...then slowly rasie the cpu speed to see if it goes up.

 

My CPU goes up, I've tried the GPU at clocks similiar to yours and up to 950/1250. My GPU score is half yours, and my CPU score is higher then yours so I'm going to have to do some research and testing. Find out where my issues are. Starting at stock will be a good referance point though. Issue must be with the GPU somewhere is my obvious conclusion thus far.

 

aquamark is pretty much all cpu. and those scores really dont mean anything...it's the fps in the top right corner that mean the most.

 

I added a GPU-z validation to my request for the 4870s John, we will see what comes of it.

Also, why isn't the GPU-z validation a benchmark just like CPU-z is? Highest overclock for GPUs should count for something

 

i know this is m15x but until i get my hands on a m17x can we call this a 4.0ghz

Lol, we can call that 3972.73MHz Does Set FSB work? and can you hold it at 31 multipliers long enough to click validate and then drop it down?

 

hahaha no break from you fair enough....i am tempted to try 31x but afraid too lolz got 1 too many BSOD and took a break. No luck with setfsb if that was the case i would not be asking for a break from you guys lolz...back to benching....how is things going for you on the CPU end of benching since 1 of your GPU is dead

 

Not too bad, I've done a lot of Single 5870 GPU Benches, and did some CPU benching. Just not quite getting as much out of it as I want now. Not sure how I ever got it to 4.2 GHz. Maybe I'm losing stability, but I need to get the system worked on as a few parts on the system don't work. at the moment I think i might take a break from benching till i get home. I want to be able to use the system for my last few days here lol.

Scook Also your 3dMark06 and Vantage submissions are backwards. Just an fyi so they don't get yanked.

Its been a hectic 2 weeks, back to university and all.

Hopefully be back to benching, and wow you and john have really killed my 920XM scores

 

I fail to see what you are talking about? My scores are all where they belong.

Put scores in whichever category you want, but do not put up the same score in more than one category. We all know that would be cheating and if I see it I will report it. Lets keep this honest afterall guys

Ya I am loosing steam in that race though.....may try some more tonight or tomorrow.

 

Say what? Now it looks correct as I'm looking at it, but earlier as I switched between vantage and 3DMark06 tabs they were coming up in reverse. I swear I'm not crazy, well not that crazy I don't think. It's possible though.

I also think it's time to see what a single 4870 can do!

 

Yea, we've been battling it out on the 920XM and the single 5870 GPU scores for a week now.

 

LOL, was thinking about that, and came to the same conclusion, it wouldnt be fair. Will keep it in the new section, just need to re-run lots of them.

 

And to think you guys are one team LOL

Haha, you should see, I had a Word doc printed up to list all the things I needed to rerun. Most I think are just out of reach. Just need to get more hardware too.

Oh snap! I forgot about the 9400! dang a lot of hardware for a single notebook. Too bad the R2 doesn't have an integrated GPU.

 

Well, some of them do. You just cannot access it lol

I will have 3-4 gpus (if I can get a set of GTX 260m's haha) and 2 CPUs (only because I cannot afford all the socket p cpus under the sun lol)

 

I'm just asked Commander Wolf if any of the notebooks he's selling are SetFSB compatible. He also has a bunch of CPU's too. Then I can just hook up my granny so she can stop e-mailing me from her iPhone

Well it is not my problem anymore haha. I have washed my hands of the 4870x2

And I just got Steam....finally haha....so I am also finally installing the free Dirt 2 that came with my 5870s as well as MW2 that I got for xmas....lol

My 920XM is acting up. It's giving me the BSOD just running wPrime stock I got the 940XM in it now. When it rains it pours I suppose. Put in a copper shim and it doesn't quite give me the pressure I need on the CPU, going to try two tommorrow.
