hummmm, was hoping for more 3dmark11 benchmarks...![]()

We are all burnt out on benching I think John haha
Even I am! -
yeah. i been gaming on the ps3 lately myself.
havent benched the laptop in a while and just running 3dmark11 on the 580.
but wanted to get a feel for how it fairs on the laptop scale...because they have the entry level bench for notebooks now. which would help the guy with a not so powerful cpu to compete....wanted to see if that was true. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
You could do that by disabling cores and turbo and HT while downclocking right? You can manipulate everything but cache size can't you?
-
I'll have some tommorrow. Stock, and Overclocked
Is HWbot taking 3DMark11 scores yet?
I just don't have much time now that I'm back in the real world. But I agree lol. If only I was back in desert
-
i was taking a slight break myself..lol
but this is a new bench..good for at least a few runs by the experts.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Well that fact that my laptop is not DX11 and my desktop is but I have not really overclocked it means that benching is not as exciting anymore haha.
Although I do have 2 beautiful slabs of copper and acetal from EK waiting to be installed into my desktop now
-
Quick question for Scook and John, does the Hyper X RAM make much differance in benching? I have 4GB 1333 Hyber X and was wondering if I should bother rerunning benches with it. All benches thus far have been on the 8GB Gskill 1333MHz. I've been sitting on the Hyper X for over a month.
-
Ran 3dmark11 again with the cap4 update and got 4494: Result
Not a big jump with the new profile. -
What exactly is "cap4?"
-
gonna say no..not going to make much difference at all. if any. my value ram runs just as good as my hyperx. and in most cases..better. since i can flash hpyerx profiles on it.
get to installing...
can you run the entry level when you get a chance joker. thanks.
side note:
damn, my results are damn dear exactly half of jokers.

How do you flash RAM? Can I flash the hyper x 4GB bios to the 8GB Gskill RAM set? RAM timings and flashing is something I've never researched much. Stock Gskil 8GB has suited my needs thus far
-

-
not sure about that....in your case...you would probably just change your own timings with one that seems better.
sam and i didnt have a lot of luck with it, but it did help on my cpu test. -
Hmm, I have a few CPU tests that if rerun with a little help, could net a few more points. How do you go about changing timings? Maybe I can change the Hyper X timings
-
it cost money to burn it. but you can look at it.
you will need the proversion for 64 bit oses

My 3dMark 11 Result without any OC at all....all stock using 10.11 and CAP 3...Basic test....3919....
Havent tried with "3dmark 11 enhanced" CAP 4 as of yet.....wonder how much difference that makes as supposedly improves crossfire performance?
Anyone experience any difference using CAP 4? - ahhh, I just read Jokers posts a few pages back...not much gain, 50points....still, worth the update i guess.
Just noticed, on my results, shows gpu clocks as 100/150.....thats kinda odd when they should be 700/1000.....oh well....least i know they work lol -
900/1100 on both cards
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
my score without any tweaks (didnt close any process at all), no gpu overclock and cpu with 2% overclock (no more voltage on it) was exactly 4000 . ATI 10.11 no appprofiles installed (i saw cap4 now which i will try later). Forgot to take screenshot, we i thought of that it was alte. i had already closed it.
-
I am getting P3903 3DMarks with norton 360 and some other tasks running with cap 4 installed... previously i scored P3887...
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That is within the normal variation for 3DMark. It is not a perfectly repeatable test

Same as me really....and we have identical systems right down to Nebula Red LOL
- did CAP 4 make much of a difference for you? - im still on CAP 3 atm....

P4,905 Result. My cards don't OC well (900/1200). I'm sure someone can break 5K.
-
If I had a faster CPU I could break 5k. Even though CPU plays a much smaller role now than before it still plays a role in mobile platforms. The 720qm is a super weak processor. My new gpus cross 880/1200 without volt or cooling mods.

Gotta say, im quite pleased with my stock result on '11.....i thought that xtreme cpu's would be absolutley miles ahead but as Joker said before, cpu doesnt seem to be as critical in this version of 3dmark...
Looking though some other results, I see xtreme cpu's scoring more than me (obviously) but not by the margin that i thought they would. -
940 and 920 are nothing good TBH IMO i would go for the 840 or the 9000Q .......
-
maybe...but more than likely....not.
you'll gain far more over clocking your gpus than the cpu would bring in.
try running triple buffer on...curious as to what it will do...if any thing.
yeah, i dont think so.
a 620m/640m are better than those choice for about 85 percent of what the world uses computers for. -
i haven't broke 5k on 11 yet. my gpus are at 910/1210 and my cpu gets 22.4k on vantage. closest I got was 15points from 5k.
-
i had to LOL,....really? the 9000 is the worst quad cpu there is. i would take my 540m over it any day of the week. i Saw your earlier thread, in which you claimed the 260sli was "better" than the 5870 x-fire. im sorry to say that your confused or miss informed. the 920/940>840 by far, and the 9000 isn't even in the same class.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
My QX9300 is in the class of the extreme i7's, that is it for the Core 2 parts though
-
cap 4 added a lil extra performance increase... but why would they increase 3dmark11 crossfire performance and leave out nfs hp crossfire support, I was hoping that would be corrected with cap 4 but nope!... BTW same pinch with the system ;-p ..Cheers!!

Successful troll is successful?
So, I can see 3dMark11's sparked new interest in the benchmark threads. I'm gettin' too rusty to keep up with all these fancy new benchmarks and techno-jargon, but here's a question. Don't you guys--especially those with Crossfire--actually find that your dual card solution scales really well with fast CPUs? -
1200 for memory is really really good. how did u get it to run at that speed? is there a dedicated voltage control for memory because i can only set voltage for gpu core.
-
very true.
-
Absolutely it does. That's why the next part I plan to upgrade in my system is the CPU to a 920xm when I have some spare cash. It makes a very noticeable difference in many of my games especially bad company 2. In my older system that had a 940xm, I used to always average 50-80+ fps and now with the same settings I'm seeing 35-70. That's a significant loss at the lower end which impacts gameplay. -
Kade Storm The Devil's Advocate
Yeah, I found that when I matched or exceeded a certain GHz mark, the demanding games appeared smoother by way of better minimum frame-rates. Not to mention, the SLi scaled more consistently.
-
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/143085
4757 3DMarks is my best so far. Hoping to crack 5k as soon as I pick up a 920xm. -
say it ant so joker...you broke 5k???
-
Ha nah won't be able to do that without a 920xm. Compare my latest score (above post has been edited) with TurboTalond and you'll see that despite having higher core/memory than him my score fell below his because of the Physics score. His was considerably higher than mine due to the CPU and it factored in about 300+ points into the final score. But if you compare the graphics scores, mine beat his in every category. -
what''s your OC Joker? i just cant push my GDDR5 past 1100MHz, is there any way to increase memory voltage because you guys are easily getting 1200MHz.
-
GPU OC is listed in the score link, it's 920/1230. I just set my GPU's to 1.15v through a vbios flash and used rivatuner to overclock.
-
i wish this card would do 900/1200, but it wont...lol
-
Hey Joker.. Ive tried higher volt through flashing but cant get any other oc tools to work. Riva installs fine but i dont have any buttons to click to adjust 2d or 3d.. Is there a newer/ older version or anything else to do so it works. My clocks are 850/1100/ 1.12v right now and my score is still 4370p in 11.. But there is some bug in 3dmark11 ive read. It stop responding when its starting to load physics test.. Also vantage and 06 stopped working.. Tried reinstalling different drivers without any succes. Disabling the "Scan SystemInfo" should work people say, but what is that??
-
it's located under the help tab.
-
Aha... Ile look into that.. Thanx alot..

no problem
