ultra quite high rpm double or triple bearing fans.

some of these fans are 5k rpms so i dont think you would lose, but more or less gain. (depending on fan)

and allot of the noise can be attributed to the case it self...how the air hits it.

    no problem cook.

say, the cooper mod is always considered a good idea, but...if you go scratching or knocking resisters off inside the case....AW may not want to warranty the machine. so always take care in how you do it...saying it was already there might work for the first group of people, but after that...could be all bad. (that's for the warranty police! - haha)

mr moo, show'em how it's done!!

I put in a request to cancel my replacement and return my existing system. It's getting too close to March now, might as well wait.

Ok i used the MX-4 and ATI 10.2 driver

this is the QX9300 highest speed i reached until now and its stable

but i cant complete 3dmark 06 benchmark as it crashes... same for games...

is there anything i can do for this? M17X works OK except the above.

If it crashes during runs....not stable.....I see you are running an OEM not an ES so you should be able to run 3.33 at that voltage as long as you keep it cold enough. And I mean cold, not room temperature. I can only reliably do 3.33 when on my front porch.

Have you made the registry tweaks for the processor that help prevent BSODs?

And what ram are you using? The stock dell crap or some real ram?

crashes are rarely when 3Dmark06 just starts but mostly during cpu test. The QX9300 was bought from ebay but its not ES i know that. It was bought from a best seller and he ensured me it was never used. also no ES written on it. And i paid a few more than usual for it. I use the 1333mhz ram from Dell. You say its not good? I think they are fast enough and never had problems. Even i buy the kingston ones wont see any difference i am sure.

do those tweaks prevent programs from crashing or is it just for the startup of windows?

right now, dont worry about running the whole 06 bench..only be concerned with the cpu test.

start from scratch and watch that test after each click of the over clock...watch to see when the test doesn't score as high. also don't forget to do the registry trick with the cpu. and if it blue screens...let me know what the code is.

yes 3dmark vantage seems more stable generally but i got used to 06 so i mostly try this.

when i say it crashes i mean the 06 not the M17X so no bluescreen...just application closed

where is this registry tweak for the cpu?

that is a voltage thing, but the voltage needed...you dont have access too....(speculation of course)

wondering if that hack is what helps it get over that hump....

so not enough voltage then. its ok for me. i was doing it just to stress the cpu for the thermal paste. i reached over 17000 (17257 actually) points without ATIs overclock and the cpu at 3.199 ghz so its ok i believe. most people cant reach even this cpu speed so..

you would need to run linx 6.4 to be sure how well your cpu and memory work together. and if you get low gflops...something is also wrong....problem with testing that is...you have to run it for about an hour 15 minutes each time it crashes, but it will give you your most stable settings for most games and benchmarks.

my highest most stable settings are with the cpu at 3.199 ghz. maybe dell ram is really crap for more regarding that only scook9 reached 3.3 ghz and he may be the only only with kingston ram. and i never tried under cold enviroment. but i dont really need more power.

right now my cpu is at 3.17 ghz and thats what i use during everyday life :p.

there is a single card, but i dont think it's working right...ill talk to the guys over there.

i have 4 gold cups for 9800m gtx in vantage. you should too...

dont remember scook doing that on a regular basis in a nice warmly lit room...although i could be wrong.

You can expect around 11,325 (overall) in Vantage and about 15,700 in 3dMark06, all at stock clocks.

It is unlikely that you will experience any flickering with an 820QM. if you do, it will be for a very short time thanks to the revised BIOS.

Spent some outside time with my laptop and the 10.2 drivers last night, was not anything earthshaking compared to the 9.12's

Seemed less stable actually, could not finish runs at the clocks I use with 9.12
