It works without modding it for the 5870. Plus it's a big boost in performance.

Wrong thread for asking about buying advice....

And I have to say.....so far I am absolutely not impressed with 10.3 drivers.....have not been able to even get close to 14k with them

Is there a tweak or something I am missing?

Well , I cross my fingers evertime I do a run on the m17x-R2 .. lol ... I had to do voltage here , ram voltage there .. multi here... so I can cut down some flickerings.

    fyi....I have tonight before I'll be a m17x-R2 ex-owner.

thanks rengsey. ill try when i have time.

how exactly do you calculate the amount to increase for both core and memory?
is there a need to have a fixed difference between those two or is it just randomly increasing each by 5mhz and finding the most stable?

got some higher scores by upping the cpu and gpu a little more :D

    13.2 vantage and 18k 06

bet it could be higher if the stupid stuttering dint reduce my fps to less than 10 for about 5 secs in a few tests

Now now John....dont let those single Runs jade you or anything.....

here is an R1 single run to keep you all in perspective. And I only did one run, did not try re overclocking for a single card or tweaking anything. So, I would assume higher is doable

Don, Ruby is smoking you, catch up!

scook are you overvolted on the gpu core?

I found out how to software overclock insted of flashing every two minutes. So I'll be in the game again.

Don, for those scores , you have to OC the GPU. Stock GPU won't hit those numbers. And I don't think overvolting the card will make any difference at all, probably freezes. lol...

Yes I have the cards overvolted but I cant say for sure if overvolting made a difference. I am only assuming it helps. I am pretty sure in some circumstances it can lead to stutter though.

Overvolting makes a big difference for me. Without it my cards max out around 630 core and with it I can push 665ish.

what you want to see John? I can just post the .rom but that would make it too easy for others here ;)

    I have core @ 665, memory @ 1130, voltage @ 1.15V

I get some artifacting so may need to lower the memory. have not pushed the core much past this yet (but hope it can be done)

Mandrake did his 14.4k GPU score run at 675/1150, numbers I was completely unable to match as my GPUs were extremely unstable at those clocks

Here is the screenie from that run of his (I hold onto it so I know what I need to beat ;)) For what it is worth, I asked him and he said he never overvolted over 1.13V

With those settings, you should hit almost 15K vantage or at least surpass my scores. There is no point of having those settings if it doesn't yeld good results.

I wish my cards could have hit those settings.

i strongly believe so yes but so can the 280m but less powerful.

although again for gaming there is no need to run it overclocked.
