I'm focusing on my cpu score right now. I'm hitting 4700 on 06 with my cpu at 3.140ghz. After that, it's very picky with clock speeds. Lets see what I can get with it. :)

you can just set your system up to run the gpu tests in dual core mode then and the cpu portions in quad mode Don, then you got a good score going on

With SLI systems running the gpu tests in 06 using dual cores will give MUCH higher results then using all 4 cores. But the difference in cpu scores keeps the overall scores higher with quad mode overall. If you can combine the two though, well, that is how Johnkss got his 06 score so dam high with a pair of 9800m gtx's and a quad cpu at 3.0 GHz ;)

you just have to get a program that manages core affinity for other processes and set it to be based on the time into the 06 process or something like that (sadly never got into it when I had my GTX 280m's)

yep. nvidia has issues with quads and 3dmark06
benching vantage you would get better scores with factory drivers and no system tweaks...get to tweaking a bit too much and you would see it in the runs.

The G73 is the ultimate CPU OC'ing laptop. It can hit a 7% increase in BCLK frequency and full control of the TDP/TDC and multipliers. Now image if it had dual 5870s. 25K would be a piece of cake.

    25k vantage? My desktop with dual gtx 280's OC'd and a i7 920 @ 3.8ghz only scores 24ishk without physixs, 26k with.

So 25k in a laptop would be so friggin nuts.

JOhn, seeing your setup makes me want to go back to building desktop. I miss those days.

Side note: I still have my nVidia CM Stacker 830 collecting dust. The funny thing is, I colored the word " nVidia " logo red.

Another side note: I have a close friend that work at ATi/AMD. He got hooks on the 5970s. Maybe I should just get some?

The last setup that I had was the the Asus Crosshair , BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC in SLi with AMD 3200+. Zalman CPU fan , and tons of mroe fans  From those specs, you can tell that, that was how long ago I left the desktop era.

    really??
i have one 5970 now, but getting ready to bench a 5870 for points. i love my 5970 after i flashed the bios. although i need a copy of the diamond slave bios. im running it as an asus.

the main reason i switched because i ran out of benching on my laptop. and i started benching from the dv9000-gateway fx. 3 of the four models-d901c. so 5 tops under my belt... :)

they are like 179.00 right now

however i cant finish benchmark06 as benchmark crashes during cpu test. voltage thing as a friend before mentioned so i cant do something more.

you have to get it cooler.

also up the multiplier and drop the fsb alittle. you have to find a "comfort level" for both. also when it is getting to it's peak, you then have to tweak the ram speed to get every last drop of performance out of it.

can we get you to run some of the test mandrake ran...time to find out about just how many cores are running at full speed on the m17x2

i think i remember joker doing it and it showing his multiplier only at 15 or so.
thanks. just look at the pictures mandrake took.

    thanks.

Crashing in 06 is an unstable CPU OC. Like Don said, it is temps. Sometimes I can do 3.33 inside others only 3.30. But it IS doable.

And about clocks, I dont use 10.5 multi at all.....my highest clocks are at 10x 333 (1333 in BIOS). I like to keep the multi low so that I can get my RAM high too (it is rated 1333 so no worries on stability) as ram speed is a HUGE bottleneck in CPU performance (something I took away from that fun computer engineering class)

But question for you Mandrake, didn't you manage to boot and get a screenie of your QX9300 at 3.45 or something around there? Please share how that happened....I want those speeds lol
