in theory yes. then they should perform better on benchmark for the reasons you said. they are not both apples but both are cpus. for me its like searching more for the latest released technology than real life and we all know that newest technology is many times just a deal for more money.

and i am not the one to compare them. this has been done by experts .

lool i know this feeling too. 17k was a real deal for me. then i reached 17267 with the ATIs. i can run the benchmark with 3.19 ghz the most but i cant return it as i bought from ebay (its not ES) :p but scoop reached over 18000 with it at 3.3 ghz. this breaks my nerves :p

For some reason I end up as scoop alot here...lol

Yes, I got 18686 with QX9300 and the 4870s (current record for non i7). Of course that is a record not counting the run by that w90 with the super secret BIOS that no one else ever saw.....if I had just an unlocked core voltage, 20k would be done no doubt

That was a pretty happy day :)

yeah, back then we thought it was impossible...but from what i know now...it was possible, just that we didn't have the right tools for the job..like his altered bios...lol

If I could get to just 3.5 GHz I am confident I would be able to hit 20k....but with an unlocked BIOS, it is likely I would be able to go to at least 3.7 GHz I would think, shame AW was less giving to the R1 owners in the BIOS than they were to the R2 people

you just need some of the same cards the whitebook had...(not literal)

meaning the voltage they got for their quads.

So, not being able to OC the 820qm (i decided on this proc) is a limit of the bios, and not the cpu? So in theory, AW could release a bios update that allowed for oc'ing the 820? Sorry for the noob questions.

That was in the M17 John, highest he got with the M17x was 3.33 or so. Right where I am, it is a vcore limitation.

If they release an updated BIOS which allows overclocking, you would only be able to change the bclk and vcore. I guess this is the same as the bios overclocking for the 920xm but the 920xm can also alter its turbo freq. bins via software tools since those multipliers are "unlocked" for the extreme chips. You should still be able to do the 5% increase though - if such a bios is released

scook9 did you see real difference on the hyperx 1333 ram in comparison with the Dell 1333mhz? i am one step before ordering. should i go on?

thus if voltage is locked how did you get the highest qx9300 cpu speed till now? is it only a matter of temperature? thus could you upload a pic of your cpu with the thermal paste? i want to see how much of it did you use. I guess voltage is locked on a notebook for obvious reasons right?

Technically no. It will take the expensive memory and turn it into cheap memory. ;)

All the tech specs won't apply because the bios of the M17x does not support XMP.

so it finally doesnt worth the money as the M17X doesnt support its features.

any comments for the 1333mhz hyperX memories Mandrake? are they better than default hyniX 1333mhz of Dell?

    The non-XMP version yes.

Here is a benchmark for testing, MaxxMEM

Have scook run it since he has the M17xR1 with HyperX mem. Then compare it to your system.

i think it matters but anyway. just run it as same cpu speed with me if possible. fsb at 1250, multiplier at x10. ram at 1333mhz. mine seemed to stuck in games with those settings (due to the ram which i had at 1250mhz before the benchmark). just do it for this benchmark for comparison.

its a ram test so maybe the more ram the better also the more slots there is the more "room" it can store data.

drake run it with 2 sticks of ram if you can

    edit
its cpu related. i will post results in 2min.

dondadah88 can you do my cpu settings and maintain the ram at 1333mhz and then run a game? do you get stuttering?

or tell me your cpu settings . we have to try with the same cpu speed. only difference is i have win7 ultimate. it uses more ram sources for sure. or we could try it under safe mode..

The fsb should have a much greater impact on the score than the ram bus speed.
