looks like he was in battery saving mode.

you have 3 cores throttling....
-
what should i do?? I really need HELP! i am currently not in the states.. do i need a software adjustement??
-
you may have to wait for mandrake on this one...he should be around in less than an hour.
-
loool.. cant wait that long its 1.00a.m. got class at 8.00, i got to go sleep, hopefully he can answer this when he come.
-
he should be able to.
-
Close out that info page on hwinfo32 and select sensors. Post a screen shot of that. Download argus monitor LINK, run it and then put a load on the CPU. You will then see what each core is doing.
Also make sure your systems power settings are set to high performance. It's more than likely you've reach the TDP limit and will have to bring your multipliers down. -
here is a screenshot, but for the cpu, they usaully all go up to 33XX, couldnt get a screenshot though.

you need to go and re-apply your thermal paste
-
are you serious? I just got it and im going to have to rip it apart? how do i do that
i thought it might be something software wise.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
it really is not that hard
Moo has a video up on how to get to the cpu -
Where can i find it?

you need to put thermal paste on your computer or call dell. you can't get out of this one with software.
lewdvig
i'm running re5 the same settings as you.
you also need to benchmark the game not the demo. the demo doesn't have the crossfire fix in it. that's why your scores are low.
getting a qx9300 isn't all that. (ok. maybe alittle. lol) -
All my games are full steam versions.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
oh oh i see. well i'll se how much i get on this run. it is alot lower for some reason with 4aa on.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i copied your settings and your nvidia cards did beat my ati's ones. but will overclock my cpu alittle bit more and lets see where we stand.
i'm at 2.93

It seems RE5 scales really well with extra cores (and also HT for all the R2 guys out there).

Its a shame that the control scheme is so slow. I don't enjoy playing it. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i have to go to bed as i have work and a few things to do tomorrow but i got 73.4fps on my last re5 run. i will compare more games later on but in my testing ati's was better.
-
he just needs to check the screws...chances are...one or more of the cpu screws are loose. aint that much thermal paste in the world going to help.
-
Hello,
Best regards

dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
well a 920 is much better then a qx9300. But I will what happens with mines.
what are you settings. -
someone around these parts seems to think a qx9300 is better than an i7..how or why...i have no clue...lol
+! on the fan spinning up from mandrake. -
I'd like to find that person and propose a trade!

Before you do anything drastic like reseat your proc and reapply the paste try doing a power drain. Disconnect your battery and AC and hold the power button down for like 30 seconds. Then plug everything back in and try again.
Edit: Also is hwinfo and argus reading completely different temps? -
I was not OC'ing , turbo mode was just on. Ill be back soon after i do what you said
-
i was hoping to be back with good news, but its not working, what should i do? should i try disabling turbo mode? could it be the new A02 Bios?
-
Last few things to try is resetting bios back to default. You can also run the dell diagnostics (boot from resource DVD) and check to see if there is anything wrong with the cpu/fans. If all is clean either reseat/repaste the processor or call Dell.

it is also possible he just needs to calibrate his sensors....
-
qx9300 ES for $475 US + $20 shipping.
Hot or not?

yes the HP qx9300 is not an ES either. It's OEM.
-
forget the es and get oem or retail.
retail has a warranty...
oem can go either way
es, your just azz'd out. -
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
i bought an oem for 450 dollars. it was new. i cant remember the seller.

I ran the diagnostic but not for everything, i just ran it for the CPU, Fan, and sensors, i restored, the bios to default settings, but no use, check the pic below, im not sure why the cpu frequency drops when it needs it.
http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/8070/runat.png
and this when turbo mode is disabled below.
http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/5466/62651023.png
could it be another bios problem? -

Well, I couldn't find a thread showing benchmarks for the m17r2, so I thought I'd start one. My apologies if there is one already...
