lol thanks, I figure it's going to be a while before anyone challenges me. It doesn't seem as popular with the crowd. I'll be joining this group soon. I'm going to order regardless by APR 13th. I have some gift cards that expire then. Hopefully the 5870's will be out by then, if not, then I'll just have to knock you to the number two slots :p

At the moment I have PCMark Vantage downloading so I'll give that a shot tommorrow.

For a single card that is actually pretty good... when my crossfire is off I am getting like 11600+, but that is with 10.3 drivers that score lower in 3dmark06 but do better in games. Your system is running fine based on those numbers!

I have broken 4800 cpu in 06, wasn't my best cpu run

Wasn't bad either though. The 920xm+5870m broke 17k though :(

i know that. lol. i'm just saying it was a massive overclock to get 17k which is very good that it could achieve it but i am happy that my gpu's were stock and just my cpu was overclocked to get the same number.....

Following up on the SSD performance stuff I had a few pages back, it looks like several hours of on time with TRIM enabled recovered me a few MB/s of write speed but did not effect the read speeds

Can anyone else tell me if these is are line with what I should expect?

    Thanks

Depends on the test, but so far:
    Vantage: 665/1130
    06: 650/1100
    Crysis: 630/???

Have not maxed out the OC for any other programs yet so can't tell you. I know Vantage lets you get further than 06 and Crysis will be quite unstable above 630 for me (overvolting ANY results in stutter though thus the low OC in Crysis). I was generally able to overvolt for the two futuremark programs though without seeing stutter.

To clarify since some people still do not understand the difference, I am referring to the stutter than happens when there is a shortage of current to the GPUs/CPU due to hitting the power limits of the computer NOT the audio/DPC crap that has been an issue.

guys lately when i play cod mw2 i get strange graphics and specifically white grass, or trees without leaves on specific stages. it there something wrong with the gpus -overclock (actually the cpu is only overclocked not the gpus) or the dx of the game? i didnt notice something like that on other games.

sounds like artifacting, that can be as a result of the GPU oc or the driver being used

some drivers sacrifice quality heavily in favor of performance

i never overclocked the gpus. In addition this doesnt always happen even for those stages i referred before. It is just that a few flickerings appear (something like that must happen on R2 i believe) and then this. and this usually occurs when i played for a short period before and not when i play for first time so the system is hot.

cod mw2 is not a kind of so much gpu demanding game even on full hd settings as i use it.

and the only thing i do is playing cod mw2 and not something else so heavy load of gpu driver??

I hope 10.3 comes out soon. I'm excepting some performance increase and more stuff to come out with the real driver release.

Some post really not worth discussing. But you know what is worth discussing? This question:

So I checked HWInfo32 and on my cores it shows the speed oscillating between 2.4 and 2.7 for all 4 cores. Shouldn't this be only on 1 core when doing certain tasks? I'm confused.

Just check the turbo binning....does it go up by 1 or 2 bins for all 4 cores at turbo speed

I've also seen this with the i7-720qm I've used. I was rather confused since I thought it could only go to 1.73GHz when o/cing all the cores simultaneously.

I was mostly speculating, I am not 100% on how the turbo bins work for these fancy new chips....I just have a bloomfield desktop 920 which gets a 1 bin boost (lame!) lol

I too, am very eager to know how exactly this works. I really hope hwinfo32 isn't wrong and we do essentially have 2.4-2.7ish quads lol. hwinfo32 is what I was watching the clocks with at the time as well.

That doesn't help. At least not me. I cannot see how it is running all cores at Turbo speed if I am not doing anything heavy. Also why would all 4 run at this speed? I thought only one went up this way.

Where is Mandrake when you need him?

    Hey guys,
i previously had a problem with my cpu where it would heat up, alot.I reapplied the thermal paste(the screws were also loose) and now my benchmarks are better I used prime95 and it went up to 91Celsius. im not sure if its normal.

Here is a benchmark with cpuz and gpuz along with my score, is it normal?

Hmm, I am hopefully getting my M17xR2 soon, but just looking at this makes me have a question.

Obviously you have an R1 with 4870's but you are pulling 8k in Vantage... didn't Moo pull 10k in vantage with a single 5870?

    Something goofy there?

the 5870 is much stronger than a 4870

these scores from Don are a single 4870
