If you can do a Vantage Run, here is a stock QX9300. It's my first run on Vantage with stock GPU and CPU clocks

I dont have vantage yet, but I'll get it and do that run very soon. I'm sure the cpu score on there may well show a difference..

I am sorry for the hold up, trying to find a good overclock that wont stutter (Crysis pushes the GPUs alot more than Vantage does lol)

But a clean install has crysis working properly

you managed to push the CPU to 3.3? Was it because of the BIOS A03?

here is crysis with gpus and cpu overclocked Don

you need to run linx with max ram for 20 pass's to know if your over clock is really stable....any other way to run it wont stress it to its full potential. usually takes about an hour and or so to complete....what may be stable may not be stable for long term useage...

    Scook,
Your OC Crysis performance is much better than your last stock, which was average 28. I think you've fixed up whatever it was that may have lost you a couple of frames. Mind doing a GPU stock run again? I think you should at least match--if not exceed--Don's average of 30.

    Dons score was overclocked 280s

    I stomped that :) (a huge 4 FPS! lol)

I had overclocked CPU and GPU for the run I posted, I would expect it to be higher

Don't know if we're talking about the same thing, or perhaps you've misunderstood what I have stated. I am speaking strictly of your original run--from the old thread--where you used stock clocks on the GPU.

    In this thread:
Your CPU and GPU were overclocked, and you got 36.

Don's CPU and GPU were overclocked, and he got 34.

CPU overclocked and GPU at stock, Don's average was 31 ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5813293&postcount=130). Now wasn't yours 27.5 when you were running the 4870s in stock ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5783478&postcount=2745)? That's where I think a re-run would be better. You could clearly meet and exceed 31, I believe.

As I said, that 27 average didn't seem right to me. Maybe you could run it again at stock, because -that- should've been more around 31, given the difference between the overclocked results.

The 27.4 fps run I did was stock CPU AND stock GPUs

That is why the delta was so big, the 31 fps run Don did still had OC on CPU

Okay, here's the deal from my knowledge of Crysis, which is much more than I'd care to acknowledge. CPU speed plays -very little part- in GPU test; it only gets me 1 FPS going from 2.66 to 3.33. I know this for a fact because I've done this test on quite a few other CPUs. X9000 - same results 28 (2.8 GHZ) - 28 (3.4 GHz) using the 9800m GTX SLi.

BUT. . . You guys are using quads, so that might be a different story. I can't be sure, you see.

Perhaps you can run with CPU OC, but with GPU at stock, and then do an all stock run on both CPU and GPU to be sure. Even the hardcore crysis community doesn't have absolute concrete answers to this query, so you could be doing more than just a benchmark.

Edit: With respect to that CPU OC, I have to also share a weak run I had with my 280s, all stock - CPU and GPU. Even I got 29 and my minimum fame rate was over 20. Something about your first run didn't go right.

No worries. Take all the time you need. So long as you do it at some point, as it would be really useful and would give us quality insight into the potential of both cards vis-a-vis Crysis.

now..use the windows 7 backup and do a quick image, before you get all carried away... :) or you can add all your benching software, then run it.

so your up and running 15 minutes after a serious crash or two....

and for the record...and image is a copy of a fresh install, if you do it right after you finish loading the system. :)
