lol ok here's one with cpuz in it:

I mean, why is it running at the same speed as the 920XM?

Excuse me if I missed it. What is the highest Vantage score so far with a 920 or 940 cpu in a M17x?
-
....16K

Final vantage run for the day, as you can see evga eleet drops the CPU score as you raise the turbo mults:

So am I following right? The crossfire 5870, in terms of Benchmakr scores, scale with the proccesor?
I feel a sudden urge to shell out the cash to increase my benchmarking . -

Well, I was able to validate 4.33 GHz! That is completely unstable though....actually system froze while loading the validation page...BUT IT GOT THROUGH!

Lol, nice one Scook! Whoa!
BTW, what's your highest stable so far? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
No clue on highest stable. I do not have good enough cooling to figure that out yet. We barely use the AC here so just my Cryo at room temp until I get back home in a few weeks (in Wyoming at the moment)
I am getting some throttling or something because trying to run 3DMark06 at 3.8 it was running but at like 30 fps lol
update: I have concluded that I am going to have to just sit on my hands (as much as it will pain me) until I am back in VirginiaOnce there, chest freezer, external monitor keyboard and mouse. Let the benches began! I think 21k in 06 should be doable
Looking at Kinc's run on the W90 I am immensely jealous of his chipset - I am capped at 333 FSB so have to multi it up the rest of the way needed mucho CPU voltage and coolingOn the upside though, that artificial FSB cap keeps my chipset from limiting my OC to much - which it would
-
My GPU scores were approximately as follows:
i720: 12.9k max gpu
i820: 14.8k max gpu
i940: so far 15.7k and I think I may be able to hit 16k. -
you think?
-
And without further ado, I am NUMBER ONE in GPU baby!
I've discovered a way to defeat the vantage throttling with the 5870s. Will I share my secret? Not yet. This was done with absolutely NO tweaks, no extra cooling, no LOD tweaks, nada, zip.

hummm, a secret huh....lol
nice job!! -
Hmm... Have you tried this secret on the 4870 rig? Does it help there too?

I WANT my machine now

Wow, 16 thousand is a lot and way better than the W90!

I just finished adding your last one, lol. Looks like I have some work to do this weekend.
-
I'm thinking I can break 16.5k if I tweak windows + decide to do what you do and use air conditioning lol. Nah I'm not really into benchmarking so I'll just leave it at that for now. -
you guys crack me up...no ones into benching...yet...every free chance your benching or trying to top the next person....lol
-
I'm really not, if you notice I rarely submit benchmarks or even participate in this thread. Only when I get new hardware I bench a few runs and then I disappearBTW drake, did you use GPU-z to log your runs? Try running 900/1200 without the A/C cooling the unit down at 1.15v and see if you get throttling. It's entirely possible I could have faulty cards.
-
-
lol you do have a point -
but great damn job pulling that 16k off!!
now we have 2 16k'rs. -
this ^^^^^^ is why i love reading this forum its great
-
Can we see 3dmark06 runs for the cpu
-
-
Great bench Joker! -
Wow congrats guys, I need to start messing with mine to see if I can get 16k+ also
-
So when will we be told this "secret", Joker?
-
After he tells me I'm sure
-
-
I need to add the Alienware tag also, I need to represent!
-
Watch it's going to be something ridiculous like running it as Administrator, or closing every single background program except vantage... or rubbing the touchpad saying how wonderful the laptop is.
-
No, you have to balance the computer on your head and walk backwards counterclockwise around your dinning room table.
-
#1 rule is always keep it cold. That will also help with throttling issues.
-
Nice job Joker.
-
From what I hear.. Joker's temps were actually quite low. So Heat was never a problem with those immensely impressive scores.
