Now that's more like it, Scook! Great Job!
5.7k on CPU  I always knew there's more in QX9300 than most can even dare to imagine ;)
It might not beat the 940XM in the end but will still remain a threat. Too bad it can't be paired with a nice Intel chipset.

It CAN be paired with a nice intel chipset, but not good enough power circuitry, cooling, or gpu's to make it shine :(

The W90 is the machine to have a QX9300 in because of that x38 chipset

Another milestone reached! The system still has a lot more headroom available because the GPU's are barely overclocked:

Wow Joker, those scores are simply amazing!!!
What's more amazing is the BCLK, how can you reach such a high frequency without locking up?
Did you max out everything on BIOS or are you running on stock voltage on both CPU and RAM?

Ram was at standard 1.5v and the CPU voltage was maxed out. I did have the bottom cover off with air directed at the system so that helped.

Thought i'd join the fun now i can maintain high speeds thanks to the turbo voltage in throttlestop.
My first real attempt with my 620m overclocked and stock gpus.

    19.4k! beats my stock score @ 16.8

I managed 800/1100 on both cores and a vantage of ~ 13.8K last night before I went to bed because of that rivatuner trick, so thanks!

heres a run of 3d06 withou oc the gpu just a cpu oc & throttle stop, i would tend to belive it works with any of the i series cpus on this platform. i had a pretty high oc and had no issues running 06, and saw a 700 point increase over my overclocked score using the same cpu settings & ocing the cards to 625&1135. id venture to say i can get it to 18k once i start with the cards.

cleverpseudonym: When you boot up, before you use SetFSB, does ThrottleStop correctly report your BCLK? Unfortunately I don't have access to any Core i CPUs so I might not be able to fix this.

If you want to do some testing, can you run a single thread of Prime95 and then start ThrottleStop to see what it reports. Send me a PM with some more testing and info. I might have to come up with an improved MHz method for Core i CPUs, especially when running SetFSB.

The good news is that once you have unlocked the turbo power limits within your CPU, you should be able to exit ThrottleStop and those limits will be maintained. Joker has suggested that I add an option so ThrottleStop can start up with Windows, set your power limits and unlock your CPU and then immediately exit. That's not a bad idea.

Well after my testing last night I am confident that no such TDP limit is an issue for my QX9300

If my Kill-a-watt is to be trusted, my QX9300 was pulling as much as 75 watts under full load at 1.4V - I am clearly not getting any cpu throttle related to this :)

UncleWebb, I do still however experience stuttering due to cpu throttling when the power draw gets up to 217W-220W on the Kill-a-watt, am I somehow using ThrottleStop incorrectly?

the TJUNCTION for the QX9300 is 100C. If you somehow manage to turn your C2Q to the boiling point, it will throttle/shutdown.

It never went over 60c last night, temps are not the issue

It is the throttling due to the power draw in the system that UncleWebb and Elkay have thoroughly investigated in the M17x Stutter thread

I got the same problem StamatisX, thus the chest freezer in the basement lol

And CodeBreaker, I want to, TRUST ME. But if I overclock the GPUs more I will need to give them more voltage and then the power draw will be too high and cause the system to throttle. It is operating a VERY fine balance right now lol (like I have less than 5 W of wiggle room). I may remove a hard drive and one stick of ram later though in an effort to reclaim some of that power.

talking about hdds power use do you believe ssds consume more power than hdds? and how much power do my dual ssds consume?

thus i dont have air conditioning in my room and its really hot here. 29 degrees or more in my room. i remember my 920xm could reach multiplier 29 and now i can hardly reach 27. maybe the temp is one reason because i remember it was with room temperature at 20 then. thus i am still with default thermal paste

here is the best 06 i can get out of my machine,i dont want to use a cpu clock that i cant get stabilized entirely. pretty decent imo, for a system with a dual core i5 cpu. next stop is the i7 620, i think i can match scooks scores with that one well see. =)

You can overclock the 4870s to higher clocks. You can also overclock your cpu using setfsb using jokers method or buying the latest version from abo

@ Codebreaker---How do you get the GPUs to clock tat high without them whiting out on you? i cant go above 638/1135 any higher on either will result in the freezing & white screen.

@ delta wing just search the AW forum, there are a ton of thread explaining how to oc your system. look for M17x-r2 oc thread and Jokers SetFsb thread that's all you really need to read to get started, then just read and ask questions

Flashing the cards with the maximum voltage and I just increased it to 675/1140 I havent tried going higher but you can get them higher
    [IMG]

I heard intels architecture for the TDP includes GPU and CPU together, so maybe it can go even higher than that with throttlestop.
