ya I still got to work out the rest of the T7200 stuff and then see if I can up any of my 4870x2 scores, then work on the Q9000. Then I still got 3 other socket p chips to see if the M17x will accept them lol

    oughta keep me busy enough

Well, a few more test, a few good results, although DR still takes the crown in this thread.. which annoy's me :p. I'd have hoped for a better result, but the computer kept crashing, and I'm not able to push it to the same levels DR can. Close but not dice :(

I think to push it to 20k, there needs to be better driver's released. Until then, I'll be content with 19k.

I'll be ready to pounce, I don't care how many restarts, freezes, thermal throttles, ice, and numb fingers, BSOD it takes... :p

Scook, am I doing something wrong? Trying to get Aquamark running, and this is all I'm getting, running Win 7 Home.

What about 3DMark03? I'm having issues with that. Can't remember what exactly, but I know I couldn't get it to run. What O/S would aquamark run on? I have vista laying around...

Here will be my latest submission. Nothing special, but gotta get pts!
Tried 30 Mult and it BSOD when i raised the first core from 29->30

I think TheCodeBreaker is in on it too. I beat out his score of 4067GHz :p My gold cup!

Another question, What options do I select for PiFast? Methods, sizes ect. Think I'm going to do a lot of CPU benching tonight since it looks like there aren't many competitiors, figured I might as well rack up some pts where I can. Didn't find any specifications on the site either.

for aquamark to work...you need to:
    1: install it
2: download the patch for 64 bit installs and then replace the original files with this one
3: for 32 bit, you need to download and replace the direcpl.dll

much like your setup for cooling i took the keyboard & touchpad off, & funneled freezing air to the bottom & top of the machine, used set fsb to get the bclk up to 175. with the 520 youll need a little more bclk, i was able to make a run with it at 186 but it bsod while i was saving the pic. my warranty is out so im reluctant to do anymore with it. i think ive maxed it out, i MIGHT be able to hit 19k in 3d mark but id rather not try with no warranty =( its tough sitting back and watching all the fun.

Scook, would you happen to know why the gpu scores on aquamark are so low? I got 185,000 but katiephil is at a186,000 :p

katiephil got around 40,000 and i got 33,000 with higher clocks. She had them clocked at 660/900 andi had them clocked at 675/1140. I thought it might have been throttling but when i clocked it higher it would get better scores.
I thought it might have been the driver, and the only one i could install was the dell ones. I had to go back to A02 and install the drivers.. did a few tests and got around 160,000 so i decided to go to A06 and right now im getting around 179,000, but my highest with the dell drivers and A06 would be 185,000 at 685/1100 (not quite sure about the clock)
    any thoughts john?

well...it's not really all based off of your gpu...the gpu takes it's lead from how high your dual core is clocked...so a 920xm/940xm would be pretty useless if you couldn't clock it higher than a dual core in dual core mode..so to speak.

that's why he is winning with a lesser over clocked gpu...

Notice that katiephil used a dual core highly clocked. I think this bench benefits more from 2 cores than 4, the same as 05,03,01

Next time I got my laptop in the chest freezer I will look into this

edit: I am slow...see what John wrote lol

I was thinking, since you can change the bus speed on the M17x R2 through SetFSB, due to the fact that it's changeable, and thus unlocked in the BIOS, Shouldn't you be able to change the voltage somehow through software means? I know you can raise the TDP, but are we really just limited to 75mV and 150mV?

technically....you probably could...but doing it with out really knowing how to hex edit....might prove to be a bit challenging....

download this program and have a look at what your computer really looks like...then we can see if we can come up with something...speculation of course.. :)

    * I got a higher validated CPU-Z, but I figure I'll hold that till somone knocks me down. Might save me some time.

should be able to get a higher bclk since your turbo multiplier is less, i prefer using the set fsb with ut the key i know its annoying to s,e people to change the values but i find it a WHOLE lot more stable than using the "asus" pll with the other keyed set fsb. fwiw i did donate to Abo.

Hmm, yea I was changing up the registers. So you can use the freeware SetFSB? How so? That would me I would have better luck with my other CPU's too.

John, thanks for that, gives me reason to keep the 940XM ES as I wasn't impressed with it in my short time with it in Vantage. It wouldn't hold the OPS near as high as if it was "weak"

heres one @ 177 i cant really go any higher im afraid to fry it ...i cant get it to validate the 23x multiplier though the cpu z reads 23 @4.077,but when i validate it i goes to 22. still the highest bclk AFAIK

Do you BSOD at that point? On my i5 520M I validated it at 3821.06 MHz. I get it up to 173.68 on the bus, but if I go higher my computer will shut down. I only leave it up long enough to validate, then I downclock it.

no it can run 177 all day as long as i keep it cool, if i move away from the ac and it just shuts down, it will BSOD if i run any kind of real cpu stress test. like orthos, it will blow through prime though. it will be fine for browsing & anything that doesnt tax the cpu heavily. my max every day all purpose use bclk that i can use without fear of crash or bsod is 165 which is pretty substantial increase over stock. at one point it could go higher but for some reason it cant anymore, IDK if its just beacuse its 100 degrees outside or what. im you want instructions on how to use the freeware setfsb ill pm it to you. its in Jokers thread but its so drawn out i can break it down real easy & save you some reading. im 90% positive that its more stable if you use the freeware version.

First aircon run but it's still too hot here and this aircon is weak, it won't let my CPU hit 21k due to heat. Close to 19k but I'll have to wait till I move to New York and give it a shot in the cold weather there.

My system will not post anymore
I tried power drain(s), i tried removing the ram and putting it back in, I tried removing the hard drive and putting it back in (thought it might have been static )
I just finished reseating the CPU, and made sure all the cables are in place.
Still the same result, the lights go on and the fans kick in and then they go off, and it just stays that way...
This happened when, i closed the lid thinking that it turned off, and when i came back into the room a few hours later i noticed the lights were on and the fans were on at full blast
Did this happen to anyone? or does anyone know how to fix it?

If you have 10.7's, it won't let you sleep or hibernate (your comp not you lol).
That's just how it is... your screen goes off, but thats it. The fix? shut it down or let it be...

Your machine was not in a freezer was it CodeBreaker? If it gets too cold it will not post. That is why I never turn mine off in the freezer, as long as it is running it stays warm but if it gets too cold it has to warm up before it will post
