I JUST CHANGED GPUS TO CROSSFIRE 4870s.

i had gtx280s but my benchmark just suck. i installed modded 9.12. is there semethign wrong? i uninstalled nvidia drivers before installing the ATIs.


do you use something to add crossfire support to games and benchmark programs?

I didn't have to do this with my previous or current system.

 

Moo, hate to be a party pooper, but there is no way you will get these 4870s stable or even close at 700 core.....at 675 they were unstable as hell for me and artifacted alot until the driver crashed

And that was running outside in 30 degree weather with the cryo pushing air into my machine with no bottom cover on

 

Worth trying on the new system.

ok i installed dell drivers and here is my first score with stock drivers-gpus on 3dmark06. cpu at 3.04ghz. is it good? win7x64






now i can install 9.12 modded? can someone upload the modded 9.12 folder somewhere? maybe i have done something wrong.

 

That is the thing, the put it in perspcetive, a stock 4850 (desktop) is 625 MHz. A stock 4870 is 750 MHz (albeit - with GDDR5 as well)

Just received it, ran a free vantage out of the box:




The screen is just great. And as a plus, my wife likes the M17x more than my old XPS

 

nice. that turboboost is really doing the job for the ati card.

 

i can see ATIs of bkvarsne have a different Bios version?

 

I noticed on the GPUz there are options for selecting OpenCL, CUDA PhysX and DC. Does that allow you to enable PhysX on the ATI Cards?

 

Can you try running vantage with the turbo boost on please?

any program to detect ATI gpus temperature?

 

I ran it right out from the box, so I have not installed catalyst like most of the others.

I think I did, anyway, Futuremark didn't like my french credit card so I only have that trial run. I'll try to buy it later and post with new drivers.

 

Those are just to tell if your card supports those capabilities. They're not clickable checkboxes.

Has anyone benchmarked the i720QM in Vantage yet? I was just wondering how it compares to the 820 and 920.

So, are we putting the R2's benchmarking on hold untill the stuttering issues are resolved?

 

It affects benchmarks more than anything else because we are trying to push more out of them.

 

well it is depressing when you are looking at your fps go up and down.

the m17x is sucking so much power with the 4870 crossfire and the i7 gpu.

 

Yeah I guess thats a valid point, could lead to misleading scores..
Would have been nice to see how that 16,000 vantage CPU score was reflected in other benchmarks

Mandrake got 19,070 in 3dMark06 with a 5% BIOS overclock.

Even if I get it to a point where I can keep it stable as soon as I OC the problems pop up again. I think this will be easier to test with two systems.

 

on your desktop., disable one card. and also do crossfire...

 

So, while the power issue lasts the 20k won't be reached?... 300+ points in 3dmark06 is not even close to be impressive compared to R1.

20k will be broken, eventually. That isn't a fair comparison either, Mandrake's 19k was done with stock GPU clocks.

 

that option isnt being shown. i had this issue before with ati cards i dont remember how to fix that.

That was a good run, but I was refering to game specific benchmarks

 

like what games? i can run some but i have the core 2 motherboard.

 

If i can get some one to get some one to finish my test then i may be able to get the CPU's overclocked.

I am going to try and get into the Grub-fsb and see if they can help me. I need to know if the mobo pll is unlocked first otherwise i prolly wont fool with it

 

My 3dmark06 run on stock drivers. Am I supposed to get better resultst? Seems like a huge leap from Mandrakes 19k run on a slightly overclocked 920XM. Is CPU that more important in 3dmark06 compared to Vantage?

 

3DMark06 is greatly influenced by the CPU.

 

well thats interesting. and you have the i7 820. i reached higher score. 16660. see a few posts before with my M17X-R1 and dual 4870s. QX9300 at 3.04ghz. maybe i could run at 3.15 (the highest i could reach for my cpu) too. Mandrake beats my cpu score by only 500 points with slightly overclocked i7 920. well well. i7 looks like a sales trick once again.

 

I don't have the same specs as Mandrake. He has the extreme cpu, I have the 820qm. My question was just if my result is as expected or if I maybe had a crossfire problem or something.

I'll disable the crossfire and do a new run... edit: Clearly crossfire is ok Just posting FYI, I know I am not competing for any top spots, not a overclocker I'll stop spamming now hehe

yes i noticed after a while you have the i7 820. ok have a look at my score with the M17X R1. this is the highest score i ever reached on win7 x64 ultimate and the highest speed i could reach on QX9300 (3.199mhz) till now. I think ATIs may have an impact on the cpu speed i could reach but the cpu seems more than stable. i may could overclock it even more.
