Hooking up with a group and doing heroics is a great way to level up and make friends Tony. Even better than PvP because of the drops.
You and ONI r bout same lvl. -

here you go oni
Bioware have held the first of a new series of weekly Q&A sessions with Star Wars: The Old Republic players, with some more information on what we can expect from the upcoming 1.2 patch.
The Legacy system offers a shared level that exists across all TOR alts, but while it’s currently possible to gain Legacy levels, there are no rewards attached to them. Lead writer Daniel Erickson confirms that 1.2 will give players with Legacy levels access to a greater selection of races when creating new characters.
“The species that will be unlocked in Game Update 1.2 are species currently in the game that will become available to classes and factions where you haven’t seen them before,” says Erickson. “New species are in consideration for the future but we don’t have any details to share right now.” Jawa Jedi, anyone?
The next major update will also add dual spec support. That’ll let players create two different skill set-ups and switch between them at will, which could be useful for creating specialised PvP and PvE builds. We won’t be able to switch advanced classes though. Bioware see the specialised trees that open up at level 10 as “fundamentally different class designs.”
Erickson also mentions that “there’s a new Warzone planned for Game Update 1.2 which we’re already testing internally.” Bioware are also working on a new rankings system which will be used to improve the matchmaking system. There currently aren’t any plans to let players queue for a particular type of Warzone, however.
Finally, fashion conscious characters will be happy to hear about a “vastly improved ‘Hue to Chest’ system” which will co-ordinate outfits a little better. Bioware also say that “there are more customization and quality of life improvements along those lines hot on its heels.” Patch 1.2 is due sometime in March. -

So if we start a new character before the big update in March, don't hit level ten or may not be able to take advantage of the new options, legacy stuff?
-
That being said I already started multiple characters so I can enjoy their story line but I will keep my favorite ones on the back burner so that I can remake them when the legacy kicks in. -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
^ what he said pretty much, If you start another character now, it can't be one of the legacy unlock-able new species.
-
My thought was regarding the reference in the article to certain unchangable things that occor to characters at level ten and would therefor disallow any legacy features...

So you know how right now your sorcerer is a DPS (madness tree) well you can also say do healer tree but only one of the two can be active at any given time.
So say your Flash point party needs a healer and you cannot find one then you can switch to your healer tree and vice versa. -
anyone know the best graphic setting for this game with sli 280m gpu's cos i cant seem to get it right, rez and adv settings in game please
many thanks -

ive never needed to fps test due to me knowing there is a problem.
all i can say is that maybe after 10 mins when the game been running an hour or so my laptop really slows down only for a few secs but thats the deciding factor in this game life or death!, we though is my was laptop throttling but after running throttlestop is still happens.
i have set my adv settings to lowand my rez is approx 1700-900ish yet it still happens.
i thought these gpu's would run this game no prob ??
i have also noticed my laptop does get hot and it sits on a nzxt laptop stand with fans on full, but nothing unusual.....
my current drivers are 285.62
mainboard and hybrid is off in bios due to that crashing laptop, also my pce 2 gen is off to.
am really stuck on this?? -

DD for pvp and Healer for Flashpoints since those are the most sought after specs. -
-
-
To my knowledge Madness = DoT (damage over time) Lightning spec = Spike dmg.
Madness = CC multiple mobs and more annoying spells for pvp. -
some really geeky math programmer (no offense to half the folks here) must have an ultimate point equation choice using all three trees for absolute max dps.

Seems ready for an iPad/iPhone app to plug in your data, ie. class, level, goal and a program spits out your exact skill tree Shazam.... 99cents -

Edit: Ironically, I googled him to make sure I Posted correctly and I found this: Drew Karpyshyn Retires From BioWare
they are gonna be hurting without him.
Edit 2: Don't know if oni can see that site so I'm gonna put the text down below.
As we play a little catch-up this morning, Drew Karpyshyn announced last week that he has officially retired from BioWare. As lead writer, Karpyshyn was a huge part of the successful team that brought you Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and most recently helped out with the newly launched Star Wars: The Old Republic. Of course, many Star Wars fans know him from his novels including the Darth Bane series and Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan. Here's a snippet of Drew's announcement from his site...
"As of last week, I have officially retired from BioWare. (I’ll give all you gamers a second to let that sink in. Just to be clear, the parting was completely amicable, and 100% my decision.)
For the past twelve years I’ve had the privilege to work at one of the best companies in the video game industry, side by side with the most talented and incredible group of people I’ve ever had the good fortune to know. I’ve enjoyed my time at BioWare immensely, but it’s time for me to move on.
I’m leaving to focus more time and energy on my novels and other non-video game related projects. But even though I’ll no longer be working on games for BioWare, I’m not going to be severing all ties with them. Many of my closest friends still work at the company, and I’m also in the process of writing the next Star Wars: The Old Republic novel, though I can’t say too much about it yet."
We wish Drew the very best in his future endeavors and are selfishly happy to hear that Star Wars novels are still a part of his agenda. Click here for the full retirement announcement at Drew Karpyshyn's official site.

Thanks for looking out for me BigTonyMAn!
This news is very fresh! It was dated today!
Mass effect was always going to be a trilogy so he helped out on this third game and now is moving out of the company for his own personal reasons. So this game will still have his touch albeit in the future he will be focusing on novels and not games -
ok my fans are clean, i keep on top of this, also i did a re-paste but my gpu temps are hitting 102oc gpu one and 70oc gpu two.
since its all cleaned why would i still get temps that high ? even with game gpu settings on poo ? -

Does anyone else get hitching with Vsync and Crossfire enabled? The game runs at a steady 60 FPS, but it has hiccups for no reason... without Vsync the framerate jumps to 75-110 without hiccups.
With Crossfire disabled there is no hitching with Vsync enabled... -
Hmm. Enabling vsynch is typically only to address bugs and often reduces performance under normal circumstances. If the game plays better with vsynch disabled, I would consider that a positive thing. Why do you prefer having it enabled? Is there something with SWTOR that makes enabling vsynch desirable?

Vsync caps your framerate by your refresh rate, vsync is ALL bassed on the game some are designed to enhance some are designed to cap. Since we all here have a refresh rate of 60 Vsync will cap us to 60 FPS witch is more than enough for most games. I know in a few games specifically enable Vsync drastically improved my frame rate becuase it allowed my gpu to only provde for the 60 frames a second and it really smothed things out (portal, borderlands) in games that were designed to show off FPS vsync can hinder your experience. I am an avid SWTOR player and i dont really notice a differance between it on or off, i cann tell you running an FPS counter with it enabled I get my full 60 frames and with it turned off I get around 110 FPS.
BTW if your having trouble with borderlands running really smoth I have a few ini file fixes that smooth the game out like butter, shoot me a pm. -
-
I barely notice a difference between single card and CFX using the pre whql 12.2 and 12.1 cap 3.
The game engine is pretty crap unfortunately. 50 vs. 50 in Ilum gets me about 4-12 fps on either machine in my sig. According to the SWTOR devs, it's because my computer is "low end". -
I still use the latest drivers from dell for my 6990m. Any recommends for a better no hassle upgraded driver. Have not changed because it never caused a problem and the 6990m rocks but at fleet and Ilum, would appreciate a few more FPS... -
I have tried the last 3-4 driver revisions as well as the dell drivers and haven't seen any significant speed increases. The main difference has been stability and artifacts / glitches.
The biggest issue with the engine is how the ui and interface are tied together in a single threaded manner. It causes any on screen change or notification to essentially pause gameplay. For example - next time you are flying on a speeder - hit the 'b' button in rapid succession and watch the framrate goto 1-2. In Ilum everytime there is a death - it has the same effect. The random pauses on the space stations are a result of people in range of your character logging in or out or changing status in a meaningful way so as to update your client. Until they can decouple those 2 things I doubt seriously we will see significant performance increases. -

Dont know if this is posted but this is kind of a big news.
Star Wars: The Old Republic developers leave BioWare to work on independent game by VR-Zone.com -

This also comes off the heels of Bioware merging all their RPG studios into one. Alot of the times big names get big salaries from big name companies its kinda like free agency for sports. These guys get traded all the time its business as usual. -
