Yea, the B button causes stuttering for me as well so i guess you are right. There was an interesting post in the m14x forums on making sure you have direct x 9 installed. I read through all the comments on regedit and its helped some people, so i think its worth a try.![]()
here is the forum post: M14x SW:TOR Performance & Discussion Thread

The game runs too fast, and I see tearing everywhere. I hate tearing, it makes me feel like I'm having a seizure. Besides, the game feels smoother with Vsync enabled. Sure, the framerate is pegged at 100-110 sometimes without Vsync, but the animations look a bit stuttery still. Plus, my GPU fans don't rev up nearly as high and my GPUs don't get nearly as hot, so it's overall better for my system and my wife who has to sit in the same room and listen to high-pitched GPU fans all night long
I have noticed that the hitching dies down and pretty much completely goes away after about 10-15 minutes of playing. After that the game can run for hours perfectly smoothly.
Edit: Plus, the graphics are really pretty and the tearing detracts from that, IMO. I wish there was better AA in the game, though. Plus, sometimes the characters during a conversation spasm from side to side. With Vsync off, it looks like the jellycam effect you get from a cheap CMOS video camera, and the character on screen is warbling back and forth. With Vsync enabled, it still happens, but it doesn't look nearly as bad. -

I have read that the crossfire setup runs the game alot better than the sli, I dont find any tearing and im running the sli. I wonder if thats a driver issue, or maybee a settings. Also I have read some ini file fixes for AA you can try to google them or I can track them down for you. -

Star Wars: The Old Republic patch 1.2 will add companion dances and endgame crafting
this looks pretty cool, looks like mod crafting is gonna be in demand after the patch.
The latest Star Wars: The Old Republic Q&A has turned up a couple of useful additions Bioware are planning for patch 1.2, including unlockable emotes tied to the Legacy system, faster travel options for high level planets and new endgame crafting features for all professions.
One of the major annoyances for high level crafters is the fact that that top level PvE and PvP gear is superior to the best buildable items. Bioware say that this is going to be addressed in next months update.
We are adding endgame crafting for all professions. This includes augment crafting, the ability to crit-craft custom (orange) gear with augment slots, new endgame schematics, new color crystals, expanded and improved research and reverse engineering and much more, they say.
TORs 1.2 update will contain four pages of patch notes devoted to crafting alone. When the patch lands well be able to extract base-mods from purple items, letting players take top level base mods out of endgame gear and place them in any customisable set of orange armour. Essentially, if you dont like the look of a piece of TOR endgame gear you can use crafting skills to rip out the stat-boosting mods and plug them into a more stylish suit. Set bonuses will carry over, too.
Patch 1.2 will add extra emotes that can be unlocked using the Legacy system including a special dance that will allow you to bust moves in perfect sync with your companion. Bioware have previously mentioned that legacy can also be used to unlock extra race options for different classes.
The patch will also provide the option to skip the annoying orbital stations that act as interim locations between some planetary surfaces and your ship. Well be adding an option for players to go directly to their ships from the surface shuttles as opposed to having them run through the Orbital Station to their airlocks, say Bioware. Theyre also considering allowing speeders in spaceports, but that hasnt been decided yet.
The ships themselves arent likely to change in a hurry, however. The number of carefully choreographed cutscenes tied to each vessels interior makes it very, very difficult for Bioware to add new ships, or allow for any changes to each boats internal design. We will probably look at addressing this instead by providing a greater sense of ship customization at some point well in the future, they say. Thatll likely mean external customisation such as decals or alternative paint jobs rather than entirely new ships.
Update 1.2 is set to arrive sometime next month. Itll also add support for multiple specs, a new Warzone and more. You can submit a question to the TOR devs ahead of next weeks Q&A on the Bioware forums -
Once again thanks for the copy pasta notes!

bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
anytime man
once I get done with Mass effect 3 ill prob resub, but right now im to busy to play.
-
For the first time today, my beast laptop ( no more) was so bogged down playing PCP at ilum with 50+ players at once, it was unplayable at 10 fps or slower!
Very disappointed. Hate to lower the eye candy. -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
once i get my 6990m all figured out, i wonder how much of a performance increase ill see. sad to see that its bogging down so much though.
-
6990m absolutely rocks which is why I reacted with such disappointment as above.
-
Yeah its a pain to do 50 vs 50 hell. I was in one that had 2 full raid parties on each side so allot more then 50 vs 50 and my 6990's where getting 5-10fps at best!
What makes ilum annoying is that after playing for 2 hours and getting tons of messages of me getting points I found out that it was bugged and I got zero points!
I am not doing ilum till they fix it. The normal quests rock but the 50 vs 50 battle is FUBAR! -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
guess ill take my time getting to 50 then
edit: did you guys try installing directX 9? I heard it might help improve FPS on the fleet and illium. -
I noticed the OPS leaders where telling players to "die and come back" to get their valor points.....
If you afre getting such low fps with CF 6990's then I feel better...Misery loves company.
I just found a lvl 50 only guild that plays every night as a guild with ventrillo. I played Eternity Vault with 8 guildies for the first time last night and had the most fun so far playing SWTOR. Also got two purple drops for armor that really raised my stats as a bonus! -
..Another bug that hasn't been acknowledged by Bioware is that you can only get a certain number of kills in Ilum before you have to die in order to get any more credit. Maybe its intentional to prevent some sort of exploit, but either way its very poor coding.
I cancelled my sub, but I had bought a 90 day so I am still in until April for myself and my wife. If they haven't made some major fixes and upgrades by then, I wont re-sub.
I have a 50 Assassin in half Columi and half Champion gear and a Powertech in full T2 and a couple Rakata pieces. They are trying to encourage bored players to make new chars, but I just don't find the grind that much fun outside the main quest lines. -
Heh... I, on the other hand, live for the grind
I actively dump and ignore group quests so I can go solo. Flashpoint Courier? Buzz off! Lemme kill more Rakghouls
Lemme solo elites and find more mats for crafting
For me, SWTOR is a really great MSPORPG (Massively Single Player Online RPG)
Diablo 3 is gonna be a blast as well, I think!
-
Making lemonade out of lemons....Love It!
-
I start new characters for the story plot so what I do is go into pvp afk while watching tv (if its huttball I hate huttball) then get easy levels. Then when I want to play the game I stick to the story missions and ignore side quests.
I already did EVERY SINGLE side quest for my 50 inquisitor so those hold no meaning for me anymore. -
Wait, you actually get levels in this game from PVP?
-
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
you get valor points which is basically your PvP rank as well as a good chunk of XP. I've used it for grinding when I get stuck on a boss as well and im already a rank 15 in PvP.
-
This is exactly why I stopped trying to PvP while leveling. - AFK'ers. You sir are the DEVIL!
-
hmm... I'm gonna have to give PvP a shot. Usually I hate PvP, but because of my current situation (father of a 16-month-old), I dont usually have much time to do anything like Ops or Flashpoints... but quick rounds of PvP might be doable...
I think I will level up my Trooper (Vanguard) and see how a tank-with-a-rifle fares in PvP
-
My powertech is phenomenal in PvP. Try the 21/2/18 build using ion charge with dps gear.
-
Thank you!
The funniest thing is I have people trying to report me every day but they don't understand afking is not against the ToS!
Besides I only afk in huttball and that is pvp in its worse!
Normal pvp I enjoy so I don't afk on that.
Also PVP gives good money! So I join pvp and use the money on my companions to craft. -
What is the latest and greatest from the guild meet in TX today?
-
I am not sure I understand your question.
Oh I am now 400 synthweaving and cybertech? (the body armor for bounty hunters etc). I am doing Gunmaking and lightsabers next I should get those two to 400 this week or the next. -
Just wondering what you all took from the big meeting yesterday?
Apparently 1.2 is the bomb and they are going to have guild capital ships.
working on diplomacy to get to dark V for now. -

If any of my Alienware buddies here dont have a home, I am on Wound in the Force I run a guild named Gloom Walkers, my name is Asaha. Feel free to pm me here or look me up in game.
-
I have not read the detailed notes yet because my work proxy SUCKS!
Also to get easy dark points just do the first Flash point solo and skip all the CS. I get 200 dark points every 10 mins. All the mobs are lvl 10 lol so at 50 you blow through it.
I need like 600 points for lvl 5 Dark but I spend all my time crafting.
PS: Somebody tried to report me for AFKing in pvp but he used allot of cursed words so I reported him and he got banned lol! It must of been his second offence because usually you get one warning then comes the ban after that.
The GM's in the game are pretty fun since they talk to you as if they are protocol droids! -
Yes, I have sent a ticket or two to them for glitches.
I got 2500 darkside points in two days with constant diplomacy.
Besides beating Karaga's Place on HM, what is the best way to get a lvl136 lightsaber? None in the auction, fyi. -
I would say make one yourself but the materials for all endgame craftable items require drops from HM runs.
-
EV HM tonight...will let u know.

here is an update of what is come for 1.2, gotta try to get to 50 before this roles out haha.

I never did the Normal mode so I cannot do the HM. At least to my understanding, you need to do the normal mode before you can try the hard mode.
Also I got my gun making skill to 200+ so I am hoping to get it to 400 today then I can resume the lightsaber craft (artifice?).
Only issue is I need somebody to help me do the starting world quick since I don't intend on lvling that character ever (hes a inquisitor and I already have one at 50). -
I got bumped from the EV HM yesterday. Twelve people showed up for 8 slots... Have done EV normal twice and got two good drops for helmet and robe armor. Apparently Karagg's Palace HM gets you a lvl 136 light sabre.
Good working with you yesterday. Let me know if you need metal or fabric materials. -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
+rep for the awesome sig Dr J
-
Yeah any mats you can spare send them my way. I do all crafts so any crafting item/material I will make good use.
-
I have lots of critendum metals, and several different crystals and silks in quantities approaching 100 for some. I put them on the galatic market. Mandalorian Iron sells at double the suggested price for some reason.
-
Thanks.
You back yet? One of my other SWTOR friends just got ME3 and I told him to look for stomachius, FYI. -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
its hard trying to balance games. I got another free space MMO that im a guild leader in now so its hard to balance everything. I should be in-game in TOR later today though.
-
I cannot imagine juggling all that!
-
EvE online?
I have 4 accounts there but I have not played it in a while. -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
nah its a smaller MMO similar to eve, but better IMO. its called Darkspace. Here is a link if you wanna check it out.
Darkspace
-
I started a new character, imperial agent operative, and am at lvl 12. Besides just grinding class quests and pvp to level up, any other shortcuts to lvl 50?
-
Space battles. Buy the most expensive upgrades that your lvl can afford and do those.
-
Thanks I will check it out tonight!
-
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
just to be warned, its got a really steep learning curve and no tutorial. The game is actually run by volunteer devs so game updates are pushed out when they have the time to work on the game. -
Hey ONI,
Felt that afk hostility today. You are getting famous or perhaps infamous..lol!
Skipping most everything other than class quests leaves little choice to level up. -
LoL Yeah it happens, but fun fact the guy whispered me and cursed me out and all I said was "your tears taste so good" and he got even more angry lol. So I right clicked his name and reported him and an hour later I got an ingame email from a GM and they said they would initiate action against that player!
So I afk lvled and he got temp/full ban lol! -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
finally got to level 30 on my juggy. Gotta keep grinding to 50 lol
