for the beta or the final release?

I will be empire for the beta like before but republic in the final. This way I get to enjoy the beta and learn the inner workings yet when the final game is out I will have a brand new untouched game in my hands.

The story lines are amazing. I think thats one of the big differences for me. It makes the game very immersive. And your ability to make decisions on the scenario (as opposed to just watching a cut scene) help to develop you character and also establish your alliance. This alliance rating on your char determines how people may interact with you in towns, etc. So it all ties together very nicely.

And for an MMO, the fighting feels more fluid. It doesn't really feel as turn based as something like WOW.

Finally, the quest design strays far from the "Go bring me 6 feathers, go kill 3 birds and come back" kind of hunt and gather design. When your doing quests, they're very cleverly designed to feel like story progression.

 

If you played in the last beta I suggest you read the patch notes. Looks like a lot of things have been changed/modified

 

only a few more hours till the next beta opens, Can't wait to get back into it

thats not a bad price. I heard bf3 was on discount last night. I have already purchased RAGE and BF3 over the last month and have spent more than i should have at 59.99 plus tax each. Wish I could buy Archam city.. heard its good.

 

well I can access the beta right now, I got a message that it started today at 10 am CST

Well 5 mins and counting.. lokking forward to seeing this game in action. Hope my single GPU can handle it.

 

with a single gfx card in use I was getting 50-70 FPS but I could not get crossfire to work. I am sure you will do just fine but keep in mind the starting areas will have hundreds of people per room so it can and will get laggy there but that will quickly pass.

Well Ive been playing a Sith Warrior. Cant find the shards! At level 8. using a Nvidia 460m. (not sli) and have been getting great game play. i average about 40-50 frames per second with some higher spikes. I know its not awsome! but its very much playable. All on HIGH settings.

 

keep in mind that in this beta they have locked the AA settings to off but the game still looks great.

1 GFX card is more than enough to pull the game maxed out and even my 6970 m18x can run this without any issues

 

From what i understand the AA settings will HOLD the FPS right ?

 

Well I had a blast this weekend playing SWTOR. To bad I never found the shards

It was good enough to know Ill be pre-ordering next month. Had great Frame Rates.. even though some people said they were getting over 100fps.. I was fine at 50 frames per second. Look forward to playing with the guild. Hope they might beta test one more weekend.. would love to try out another character type.

 

only was able to play for a bit friday morning. Dell came to replace my screen and ended up shorting my mobo. So I can't play anything for a while sorry i wasn't able to play with you guys

 

Sorry to hear that! I would never let Dell touch my AW. All the Dell techs that I know are horrible techs.

 

wasn't the techs fault at all, he was pretty nice, I blame dell more for sending a faulty part

After downloading about 13 GB AGAIN for an update, I could not log into the game after multiple attempts Saturday and Sunday. Launcher kept crashing to desktop.

Can anyone else log into server still ? I can for some reason.

 

I played the beta all weekend and my 2008 Cyberpower desktop is showing its age.

So I am in the market for a new machine and I want a laptop. I wanna spend around 1500 and was thinking a MX14 with higher config or a MX17 bare bones (at least the 1920 reso tho).

Or I was thinking of getting more bang for the buck and going with a Sager or somthing less "pretty" as an Alienware.

Knowing what you all do about the game and its system needs, I was hoping for some SWTOR specific help!

You dont need much to run SWTOR. I run it just fine with the specs in my sig. I beta tested all weekend as well and never had a SINGLE issue with gameplay or load etc. The m14x is a great laptop and has won many awards! Its well worth it IMO. I like the larger screens.. so I went with the m18x. The m17x will be cheaper and you will get more BANG for your BUCK imo. So thats a better route if the budget is tight. Dell also offers financing.

 

i also played star wars in beta all weekend on my m18x i actually went out to eat in my local zaxbys cuz they have wifi there but no power plug i actually played star wars on the integrated intel graphics on my machine on medium setting with battery saver on and everything i played for 2 hours and the game ran so smooth i was amazed

 

yea its not really a demanding game at all. any of the cards in the current alienware lineup(minus the m11x) should be able to run it easily

 

Anyone know of a good way to get a discount on pre-order ? i jsut dont have the funds after BF3 and rage and a memory upgrade. I really want to play this but ... need to slim it down even $10.

yes I was afraid of that. and yes I agree... Xmas is raping my budget. With a wife and two kids... Times are tough.

 

The only way to get a discount is to have a friend that works in gamestop and use his employee discount. If you lived in South Florida I would hook you up but I see you live in Texas.

So beta was running just fine at 1920x1080, everything to max with fps 30+ everywhere on the 460M?

 

yup you should be good. I was usually getting 60fps with a single 460m and a 1600x900 screen. The m18x shouldn't have a problem with this game maxxed

 

I also have the 460m. And at my max resolution (1920x1080) I was running 40-50 frames per second. Somtimes with spikes higher. Never lower. And it was a great experience.

I think almost everyone did from last weekend. All my friends are in too.
I just hope they didn't wipe our chars from last weekend. I got my Assassin to 25 and don't want to start over.

 

Didn't get one and still can't play even if I did get an invite.

I tested it a few weeks ago and then again this last time for a bit and I still had access to all my characters. They might have wiped it but I don't see why they would unless they are trying to save space or something.

 

This previous beta weekend I could see my sith juggy at lvl 11 but it would not let me log on him so it ruined the whole beta for me.

Something tells me that he wont be available this beta either.

 

thats a bummer bro. I was up at level 9 with Sith Warrior. and level 3 with Bounty Hunter. i want to try out another class as well. This gives me the chance to KNOW exactly how im gonna jump in early on the 15th and smash through! Im gonna get the game now! Managed to scrape up some change from behind the sofa and under the bed. To bad i wont be getting the collectors edition Ill be getting the 79.99 one.

Anyon have any idea how much this is gonna cost a month to play ?

 

I cant imagine that they will stray away from the $14.99 price point. Same as all the other monthly sub MMO's.

WOW. I havent played MMO since Galaxies. I cant believe they charge that much. I guess im going to have to try it out anyway. Seems kind of expensive.
