UGH .... the interface for joining games is bloody gross and stupid .... but otherwise the game is alright ...
-
Stable overclock with 822/1035, averaged 40 fps on Caspian border. Didn't have fraps running on metro, but it runs buttery smooth as well... 57 degrees after an hour of play.
Also can't recall any screen tearing, if it was there it must have been minimal.
EDIT: After 11.10 update, I averaged 41-45 fps on Caspian, with highs around 51-53. On Metro, I averaged 50-55 fps, with highs around 70-71. -
is this with crossfire enabled?
-
is there a way to fis the horrible vertical screen tearing?? ? Yes, v-sync is on. But my framerates go beyond 60fps, so that may be why, therefore vsync is not working
-
Yea really wondering what CCC you folks have or what AA yur runing and post processing ... I am only getting 40-45fps ...
-
gotta restart the game for any graphical changes to take effect.
-
im well aware of that
-
HRM ... so far, I like Black Ops more ... sadly ?
Understanding this is just the beta ... this map is horribly stupid. -
Dual 460M GTX. Didn't have the balls to try ULTRA, because on the HIGH max with 16 AA, the screen quality seemed to tear even with VSYnc on. It seems I'm able to run mostly medium with some settings on high, but it still looks great. I was getting around 30FPS in the outdoor map and around 40ish in the indoor one.
Also I think there's definitely some cheaters on the BETA.
-
Cheating, in what way?
-
I could barely get a shot off against some players, their ratios were beyond outstanding - almost like they had auto-aim or radar.
-
I hear ya man, I felt the same.
On other news:
I had my first crash with 11.10 catalysts on stock clocks. They are far from being stable. -
Yes, it is. Also on the temp... After my last session, it was around 65 degrees right after playing, but drops to around 51 in less than a minute.
-
Getting mid 30's outside and 50's inside with my single 6990 on metro.
I cannot find a Caspian server, they are all Metro. How do I get onto a Caspian server? I tried to check this box in options but always 0 servers. -
So overclocked so far to 730/1460 i get throttling. The overclock for somereason gives me throttleing. I think 710/1420 is good.
-
I was running 840//1150 clocks today completely stable 45-55 FPS outdoor and 55-60FPS indoor...
-
here you go fellas, a little performance test for Battlefield 3 BETA with desktop GPU's, so we can have a more clear picture on what's going on:
All in-game settings have been set to Ultra, FullHD, vSyns OFF:
BF3 BETA uses 1,5Gb of vRam for each GPU
hopefully we don't have to worry about that with our M18x:
And, of course, the benchmarks:
As i could see, the Nvidia GPU's handle the game a little better (GTX560Ti vs ATI 6870) but no wonder it has to be polished both from the game and drivers side so we can draw up a final conclusion on 25/10/11
All the latest driver were used during benchmarks (verde 285.38, AMD 11.10), BTW -
No issues here, the game runs fluently 35-60FPS outside and above 50 (50-80) inside even in the most intense areas on ultra.
-
Crossfire is not scaling in this game, even with 11.10 drivets. game runs smoothet in single gpu.
-
From the attached screenie we can see that a single HD6870 (desktop) is doing 33FPS average. I'm getting about 50-55Average based on two available maps with 32 players. That's in the GTX 580 (desktop) ballpark and that's about what it should be with working CF
-
framerate means nothing. its the smoothness of frame output. just try it. run game with single gpu the framerate will be smoother, despite being half.
like i said, crossfire is not scaling with bf3 beta right now. -
are you sure youre not experiencing microsuttering
-
Micro-shuttering.
Always in the 25-35 fps range but depending on version of drivers this ball park moves around by a little bit. -
its not microstuttering. that stays between 25-40fps. i heave dealt with microstuttering since 2008 with my first nvidia sli laptop clevo D900c.
its the same stutter that was associated with bfbc2, exactly same stutter. only vsync would fix it but you needed fps of 60 or more and any time it dipped below 60 it would stutter. in fact, it would stutter with fps higher than 60 it did not matter because only vsync would smooth out the gameplay. even in single gpu mode it would stutter.
11.10 drivers fixed the stutters in bfbc2 100% in single gpu mode and even in crossfire. they run bf3 beta smooth in single gpu mode only, though. in fact there is negative xfire scaling in bf3 right now. -
Hmm strange, found BF3 to be buggy in calling on the API most of the times to run Crossfire properly and at other times flaking out.
But the scaling is pretty significant other than for the occasional crossfire usage bug. -
Aiki ... what are your CCC settings ? Thats the only thing I can think is making the difference here .... I am getting 40-50 outside and 50-60 inside with a 840/1150 OC.
At stock clocks more like 30-40 and 40-50 ... -
CCC - application settings. Your CPU is holding your cards back.
-
really? ive never heard of a CPU holding back a GPU, so what CPU would you reccomend for this game?
-
I think its possible actually. I wil have a 2920 later this week ... will see then
-
when it comes to computers they are only as faster as the slowest component and cpus can easily hold back graphic card setups. try running a phenom 2 with two 6990s/590s followed by an upgrade to an overclocked 2600k and youll see : P.
-
That would be way too much of a generalization, games like Metro 2033 don't show scaling with CPU, the same for Crysis titles. It depends.
Modern Warfare scales a lot with CPU but then again the fps is ridiculously high on systems like the M18X.
And once you up the eye candy to the max it comes down to the cards. CPU scaling can be observed on most titles at lower resolutions. -
I found the exact opposite tonight while playing around with eyefinity (3x1 5760x1080). Not sure if/why the results would be different with a single display though so keep that in mind. I am using the official 11.9 drivers right now.
I was trying to determine if it could be played in eyefinity or not and at what settings I would have to go down to. With a single 6990 I was getting 20-30 fps (all low settings at 5760x1080), and was very choppy. With crossfire enabled I was getting 50-60 and very smooth at same settings. It looked like perfect scaling at least on my setup. I was logging temps and GPU usage as well. Both GPU's were 99-100% usage most of the time in the crossfire test. I played at medium for a while around 45-55 fps so I might get away with high in eyefinity mode. I can sometimes handle lower framerates in some of these newer games, maybe because of the motion blur etc.
When away from home I will have to live with ultra/single display
-
Hey fellas.
is there anyone having problem with dedicated Nvidia driver? My system does not recognize SLI configuration since I got it installed. Any tip would be appreciated. -
I am also having some fps issues in BF3. I am getting about 25-35 fps at High settings on 11.10 drivers. Not sure why my system isnt handling it so well. Thats on 6990 CF and stock numbers.
-
You will need to do clean install of the drivers after scrubbing the system with Driver Sweeper.
Try this:
Connect an external monitor to your laptop.
Check if the two cards are being used when the game runs. You can do this by running two instances of GPUZ (on your extended screen) and choosing each card on each GPUz instance. -
The game stutters slightly and does have a smooth FPS feel the FPS is at 45+, when I go window mode however it's perfectly smooth....
-
Shouldn't be any stutter there unless you are on a server with lag and poor ping.
Been playing for a couple of days and no issues, full screen, everything ultra. -
For some reason after you update the drivers nvidia turns the sli setting off right click on the mouse and open the nvidia menus and enable the sli.
-
call me crazy but am I missing something?!?!? How are you all changing the settings for this? i can't find options for anything ):
-
You have to actually be in game to make any changes. Escape then I think it is options, then video or something like that. My teammates have probably wondered why the hell I'm wandering around doing nothing during all of the times I've just been playing with settings.
Ironically I can't find a way to nicely exit. I just alt + f4 when I'm done. -
I switch from windowed mode to full screen last night and bam smooth as silk. Shot up 40-55 fps. The only thing now is there is some tearing outside at the first part of Metro. That will probably get fixed with retail. The only annoying thing that I experience at the moment is Your connection has timed out with the server.
-
Disable UPNP in your router settings
-
I seem to have acceptable frame rates but my real problem is it will NOT let me re deploy without going from full screen back to windowed mode then back to full screen. Same problem with both the 10.8 and 10.9 drivers using 6990 cfx.
-
There is a full screen on option in your settings. I had the same problem with that. If you dont alt enter when its loading at the right point it crashed on me sometimes. If you enable that and restart the game it should stick in full screen mode all the time. Hope that helps.
-
I did that as well. Still doesn't work. Let me be a little more specific. Match starts, I alt/enter to go full screen.(Full screen is also enabled in settings). I die after 15 seconds as usual because I suck at FPS's. Still being in full screen it brings me back to the deploy screen. I hit deploy and it just sits there like i never hit the deploy button. I have to hit the windows key to exit full screen, it goes to windowed mode, THEN it actually deploys. Then I have to go back to full screen to play. Very annoying.
-
Yeah I have to mash my deploy button a couple of times as well to enter the game again. So yeah still lots of bugs to sort out. About the 15sec thing I cant help since I am in the same boat lol. They tend to shoot me behind crap as well.
-
The last two posts make me feel much better. I will crouch/crawl up to a point where I need to peek around a corner and see what is going on and maybe get a shot off, then BOOM headshot and Im dead. Sometimes I have more luck just running and gunning. At least I may get a kill or two before I die.
-
Ok, well at least I don't feel like I am going crazy with the deploy problem. I am also getting the screen tearing issue.
To be honest I am not even sure why I am playing it, it's buggy as all hell and I suck at it, lol. -
its in the same condition as the alpha was except less laggy (latency-wise). just wait for the final release : p.
-
I don't think you think guys suck at it, some of the shots they take are just impossible no matter how good people are. I have seen videos of how true professional players like Fatality Zero etc play. So these guys on BF3 are upto something. Its definitely not anything related to ability that's for sure.
