Hey BB, I know everyone thinks I do nothing but complain, lol... but I'm having the same issue with RAID 0 as well. Not to mention SUPER bad keyflex.

Other than that, it's an awesome build. I like the rubber arm rest and it's very tightly built too. Screen isn't bad at all either.

WOW, I would NOT be happy with that!!!!! - I got mine today and she is still in the box in the hallway......I think I will open her up in a bit and chek her out for damage.

Seriously, would NOT be at all happy with that kind of damage....

Hi guys just wanted to share a couple of pics with you.

the red one is an M17x-R1 one on the right is an m18x-R1.

Here is the most visible difference between my 2 machines besides size

As far as i can see, the m17x-R1 colors look and feel better, I believe the m18x-R1 screen can be calibrated, but the m17x-R1 wasn't calibrated at all.

Overall very satisfied with my M18x-R1

Yeah that sucks, but luckily it is a easily replaceable part, so there will be minimal impact to the rest of the machine.

It looks to me like the m18x is much brighter than the 17 and the brightness is washing out the color saturation. Try turning down the brightness with them side by side and see if you can get them to look similar.

Makes me long for the RGBLED even more sadly. But what is amazing is that it's not all that much bigger than M17x.

OK, received my M18X yesterday here are my thoughts...

    1. Clean installation of Windows and drivers was not as easy for me as it appears to be for others, it is my first time. I was going to install all drivers from the dell website, however, once I did the clean install on the new M4 SSD I did not have access to the internet due to no drivers being installed. I had to use the resource CD to download the majority of drivers.

    2. I installed my own 16 Gig hyperX Memory, it was not the plug and play, but adjusting the BIOS was easy enough. Getting the second two RAM in was a challenge as I had to remover the keyboard. Again, I am a bit of a novice.

    3. I paid for the factory OC, which I believe is the "Level 3" in the BIOS. Mine was not set to Level 3, it was set to Level 1. I reset it myself and seems to be OC'ing just fine. I want my 75.00 back, but how do I prove it was not complete when it arrived?

    4. My system seems a big buggy, sometimes it freezes when I switch between users, restart or shutdown. I think this is a SSD issue and I have read about the M4 having some issues. I found the REG fix or LPM fix, however, it seems pretty complicated even though some folks said they did it in two min. If someone can break it down for me Barney style, that would be cool. Seems the issue is with IRST, so I uninstalled and currently using Microsoft. This helped, but still everynow and then it will lock up or something.

    4. The performance is unreal, Vantage score of 21737. CPU Score of 23203 and GPU of 21289. This is an awesome system, I will probably appreciate it more once I am over all of the headache of clean install and SSD issues.

Yes! the most difficult part is to remove the central panel....easy to remove 5 screws but it really hard to pop up the panel...if anyone can share some tips, it is highly appreciated...I took 20 mins to remove it but failed...

Pretty sure it slides towards the back of the laptop then just lifts off (if you are talking about the bottom)

I think maybe he is talking about the panel on the front? I used (gently) a small flathead screwdriver to help pop it loose.

    G D M F S O B..... $#!+.....

System looks great.... except for the bloody France Keyboard.....

it's set up so i can actually TYPE QWERTY, but the keys look like AZERTY.

The Q and A are reversed, and the M and ; are reversed....and it really looks wierd...

I haven't even tried to test out my games to see how they play... I think i'll need a few days to drift back towards reality, if I call Dell support now, i'll be charged with abuse.

I started to remove the panel from the right back, then I removed it from the left front. There appears to be one area which it stuck at and I had a bear of a time taking it off. Once I did I made sure I did not break the plastic tab.

The crappy thing is I have to do this again once the replacement comes. At least I will have spare parts this time though (but I will still be very careful) :p

Crysis 2 run very well with all settings set on EXTREME, HDRLevel 1.0, Bloom Level 1.0, MultiGPU, No Intro.

However, i need to disable MSAA to avoid flickering.

I am using Crysis 2 Advanced Graphics Options v1.7
