Yeah, I agree. They said after it processes through facilities tonight I can pick it up in the morning, but I told them "Nah, it's cool at $4.30 a gallon in Chicago you can use your gas".

Im wondering if the Momentus drives in RAID 0 I got is what is holding me up... sigh
-
There is nothing on the site to say its delayed and the way they are picking orders seems to be at random. So your guess is as good as mine unfortunately :/

All I can see is the build time is now 12 days (from 15). So I am going to hit 11 tomorrow, while others are going on there 3rd week+.
Its one of those things that annoys the crap out of me. I usually always go through this mess with Dell, and I think to myself - never again. However I always come back...its like I never learned my lesson in the first place. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
People have received systems with all the parts that make up mine, yet my laptop has not left Dell yet and was ordered 5/4
I think it is safe to say they have no system in place whatsoever for handling orders -
Well today I bugged my rep about the delay on my machine. He said that they have a shortage of the chassis cover. As soon as they receive the parts they will prioritize my order.
-
Yup, phone call hell, pretty much. So the wait actually isn't that bad but it's really just the concept of the thing.
-
I don't mind wait either. However the simple fact that we paid nearly 3K or more for a system and we have to wait till God knows when to get it.
Dell should redo the site and make it more friendly.
Order Processing
Pre-Production
In Production - Waiting for Components (tells you whats needed, and when it should come in)
In Production - Building (with tech id)
In Production - Final Testing (with results)
Shipped
Delivered -
If they have the infrastructure (and I don't think they do) to make it happen that would be great.
-
The service tag gets scanned though the whole process so I don't understand why not.
Just a hope and a dream at this point, but they are a old company and they should of figured this out by now. -
Agreed. They may have also decided that it's better to be nebulous with the info than more specific as to divert expectations they can't meet 99% of the time.

M18x ordered on 5-10.
Out for delivery 5-19.
FEDEX sucks. Delivery exception Wrong Address? To the same address UPS delivered my Orion case to last week? The same place that shows up when you search for it on Google maps?
Yes, the FEDEX driver sucks. I called FEDEX to see if I could pick it up this evening - NO.
So i gave the directions from the local FEDEX store to my door and gave them my cell number to call when he gets lost again. -
I'm sure Dell does have a system in place, but it may or may not be hardware related, or not completely. They could all be basically FIFO, until there is word of a possible part shortage, then the HOME customers get bumped to the back of the line. They aren;t trying to be Jerks, it's just business. It just feels mean and cruel and random because we have no way of getting "the correct" info. Even the "reps" you guys call could be feeding you a line of crap. All you can really do is hope and pray it shows up, soonish, and is relatively flawless.
Like gambling. "here's 4 thousand dollars, put it all on black (or Red as the case may be)"
and BTW. Ordered May 6, still In production. -
That stinks and that happened to me before as well. I just told them the new address to drop it off at.
What stinks more though...
M18x ordered on 5-10.
Out for delivery 5-19.
...9 days
I just called the number again to find out the stage and when the automated system says "In Production" then followed by the stage, I cringe when "Build" comes up hoping its "Boxing" instead, or even "Shipped". However that is not the case at this particular time. -
Better than:
M18X ordered on 5 May
Out for delivery... errr... bzzt... still in production.
-
Dear dell, go suck it i ordered a full week before this date and still in production? -
There goes my FIFO theory...
Maybe pick the name out of a hat? -
grrr. ordered on may 3rd, est. ship day may 26. still in production...
-
I ordered it through a business rep. That may make a difference as BryGuy said.

I don't know.. I ordered May 7th. I spent 3 days in processing, 9 days in production, and now 2 days in shipping. Still not showing a shipping number, though it says EDD is 21. Don't know how thats gonna work because 21 is Saturday. Regardless.. I was told my EDD was originally June 2nd.. So I'm happy, just impatient.
-
I'm still stuck in preparing for shipping limbo; fedex has a tracking number, but apparently has not received it yet. Ordered 5/4.
If there was a snafu with shipping notification I'm going to be mad as I'm away from home now and will never know if they are attempting delivery if I don't get notification as I have to move my day off around to drive home and grab it. -
Sign up on the FedEx site for notifications. They are more accurate then Dell. I actually got a call from FedEx yesterday letting me know they were going to be delivering today, Dell still showed In Production.

I spent 3 days in (SC)shipping.. but after clicking my order number.. it showed my finalized production. -
For several days on 3 different Dell pages I was:
In Production
Shipping
Finalizing Production
Think the phone order status said Shipping Preparation if i remember correctly. -
TheMatrixHacker Notebook Evangelist
Thats a good thing then. On my 3rd day at night(of SCshipping/Final Production).. .I came home drunk.. kinda to an email from dell saying It had been shipped. So look for it soon. -
The F5 key on my ThinkPad is gonna fell off soon
-
TheMatrixHacker Notebook Evangelist
wow.. big move. ThinkPad to Alienware. I bet your excited
-
My shipping method is changed from international to Canada standard...

I had a M17XR1&R2 but currently using the old IBM R40 to survive till the M18X arrives.
-
Please remind us when did you order yours?
-
TheMatrixHacker Notebook Evangelist
yeah.. Im in the IT industry.. I supply most of my clients with ThinkPads.. I never understood how my boss thinks thats acceptable.. but it seems to be the business standard. Good machines, for email and basic applications. Then again, half the time Im having to tweak them for clients to get any kinda performance outside of the clients boss who has the 8gig i7 ThinkPAd
-
5/5....one day earlier than you!
Status changes many times today~
5/19 9:00am shipping preparation,
10:00am shipped
4:30pm transit in U.S. with tracking number provided -
I was hoping that something changed when I came home from work, but nada.
I feel bad for my virtual keyboard on my phone...refresh refresh refresh
-
ordered 5/5 still in production...I'm really envious of all those who are getting their systems currently.
-
Well only a few days left. I told my rep that I needed it by next week. If nothing then I will cancel the order and get something else. To be frank, I don't have time to play games with production status.
-
Man what gives, people who ordered a week or more after me have started receiving their systems, any fellow Canadians get their beast yet?
-
TheMatrixHacker Notebook Evangelist
I feel your pain. I almost ordered the m17x because I knew this would be hell. But I decided I would regret it later. -
Well, within the past two hours since my last post, my status has been changed to shipped both online and over the phone. So if I'd have to guess, saturday or tuesday delivery. Can't wait.
-
TheMatrixHacker Notebook Evangelist
Yea! why not monday ?
-
I've got my holidays off, it is what I get for being away from home for so long. I was thinking it was memorial day. So saturday/monday delivery estimation then. Thanks
-
TheMatrixHacker Notebook Evangelist
lol... no prob. I was just playing. I did the same thing earlier today when I was counting my EDD. But then I didn't order any special shipping, so I don't think FedEx does Saturday on normal 3-5 business day.
-
mines canada standard when its IN canada. its still coming from USA. i also got my trakcing #.
-
Order 5/13, EDD: 6/9
still "In Production" -
Anyone from Canada (nebula RED) hit shipped yet?
-
I ordered mine on 05/04 and it was shipped out on Monday and still hasn't arrived in Canada yet, apparently it takes 3-4 business days to get to Calgary and then around 2 after that to get to other cities. Purolator told me that their won't be a tracking update until it gets to Calgary.
-
maybe ill get lucky since im so close to the border. who knows. i want my m18x TOMORROW.
-
Psh, I want my M18X next week.
-
I'm in Winnipeg, so close to the border too, unfortunately purolator told me that all Dell shipments go freight to Calgary and then are sent out from there, so it's not looking good for either of us, best case is Monday I think.
-
I'm in Calgary!
Hopefully, mine ships tomorrow. Gonna be a very long weekend
-
Oh crap it's a long weekend, I guess it will be Tuesday at the earliest then.
-
omg long weekend ...
