M18x Order Status Discussion

wait, why long weekend? what am i missing here?

 

We have national holiday in Canada next Monday.

 

ah. Thank god im in PA. haha, no offense to canadians or anything, but i'd like my M18x to arrive ASAP

 

i think i might get mine tomorrow since i live close to torontos depot

 

I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to order now or wait just a liiiitle bit longer to see if a new screen and GPU options are added. I kind of want to wait until Ivy Bridge to possibly get the newer chipset and better battery life, but I really don't think I'll be able to wait that long. If I do wait that long though, do you guys think that they would release the M18x-R2 to add in those changes or will the R1 be completely upgradeable?

 

ivy bridge is crazy wait, seeing the reviews and benches come I am hard pressed to stick to my mission to wait til June for GPU refresh. ... its killing me actually. But I will wait, ... til june ...

 

Well I just got up for work. It's currently 433am eastern and still in production.

Granted it could change today but we will see...

woohoo! Got a tracking number, so looks like I will be saving the unverse this Saturday (5/21) (errr, playing Starcraft 2) with my new m18x

 

On another note, this whole waiting thing made me actually have a dream that I got my m18x. The thing was so massive, I could stand on it - weird dream. Probably from also looking at this picture yesterday as well.

I got my email from dell showing the same tracking number maynard had already gotten for me and it STILL shows NOTHING from FedEx except that they were notified to expect package on 5/17.....this whole thing is pissing me off....Dell has such a broken system in place.....NBD aint worth crap if they cant keep track of it

 

My current XPS laptop is dead since 3 months and i am waiting with impatience my M18x replacement.

As of today, 9 business days and still in production.

For the moment, i can enjoy my good old P4

 

I woke up this morning and before I even started getting ready for work, I checked my Order Status with dell. The FedEx tracking number was finally available. So I tracked it, and it has been on the road for three days, and is on the truck on the way to my house right now! So I had to rush into work and complain about a medical emergency and come straight home!

Ordered 7th of may. Basic Specs, with a memory upgrade to 6 gigs.

 

Matrix I would like to see your benches, I think I am going to order stock, unless something yummy arrives in June for GPUs

 

Absolutely. At first I wasn't going to do benches.. then decided there might people who are interested in seeing what the machine can do as is. So Ill be doing some today If it doesn't take all day to get here.

Well, your lucky in that way and the other way that you live in TX. So the worse case you can go to Dell's office and yell at them

I called our corp rep and the epp rep. The EPP one doesn't want to talk to me about my order now, but if I make a new order he is fine with it and talks up a storm. However the Dell corp rep said everything was a-ok and should ship soon.

 

Day 14 in production, having second thoughts

 

Ya aikimox... Ordered 5/6 and it's still in the build stage as well. Gotta love it...

 

damn.. what the hell. What color did you all order ? I went with black. Also my specs are as is (memory exception) I think that might be a difference.

 

I went with black. Specs in sig.. I honestly think it has to do with the 2 500GB Momentus drives in RAID 0 I ordered from them. You have to use the ES versions because the consumer versions don't support RAID. That's my theory at least... lol

 

So far my wait is:

Anyway, I am in the same boat as quite a few people. I don't know what to do since my epp rep doesn't care that much anymore/doesn't have an answer, and my corp rep doesn't really say anything to put my mind to ease.

I told my EPP rep, two weeks and I meant it.

According to someone else I spoke to, they are doing a software upgrade till Monday so it will help them track the order a lot better.

 

They are not shipping ES to customers....that is illegal.

More likely it has to do with a complete lack of a system on their part....

People have received laptops with all of those parts in them as early as this Monday or Tuesday so at this point I am pretty certain that they have no system and are simply incompetent.

 

ok so even though i ordered from toronto, my laptop shipped from texas. probably dallas/austin/houston. i dunno where their facility is though.

 

Hmm did not know that Scook. Well incompetence from Dell is not a new thing to me. lol

 

We have a Dell facility here in Austin. It was there first one I think.

Two days earlier than my EDD when I clicked the purchase button. Not bad since I'll have the whole week to play with it before I go away for the holiday weekend.

Straight through. I called pretty late last night and checked online around 3am EST ... still in the build stage. Same thing this morning until about 30 minutes ago when I refreshed the order status page. All of a sudden is shipped with a link to FedEx tracking.

Kinda odd as you'd think there would have been some transition from build to shipped. But I'll absolutely take the two days early!

EDIT: It's actually a good thing that it didn't get here today or yesterday. I would have gotten zero sleep! And the same with this weekend. I'll be out of town until Sunday afternoon and I have no doubt that I'd be too busy installing all the upgrades and making sure all was well to sleep.

Ordered on the sixth, still in build status... I sent email to rep two days ago and have heard nothing.

 

Ordered on 5-10.

EDD was 6-6.

Delivery attempt 5-19.

DELIVERED 5-20!!

But now I have to let it sit for two days. I am traveling this weekend.

 

Mine is shipped according to dell but no additional information is available on the order status page If I view invoice it shows the tracking that says nothing but dell notified FedEx to expect a package on 5/17

And on ES being sold, ES are only obtained by vendors under NDA and specific agreements usually. An ES is the property of the originating company though and cannot be sold legally by a 3rd party (whoever the ES is sent to) legally

 

Man... I have a feeling that I'm one of the unlucky ones whose system feel through the cracks. 10-14 days for most people from order to delivery. Hopefully I'll have mine before July 1st.

 

If it cheers you up....this is day 16 for me and I am not optimistic about getting it before Monday which will be day 19

 

Assuming mine arrives Monday it'll be 20 days.

I know we're beating the dead horse on this one but it would be nice to know what actually held and is stil holding up some orders. Is it RAID? Was it my factory overclock? There's no pattern.

 

Thanks Scook. Ya JC no idea. I'm just not in the best of moods today either so it's not helping. Last year in my 20s.. lol Stuck in Kuwait when I was supposed to be home in Charlotte, NC with my lady for my bday. Fantastic times! I think that's enough forum posting for me today. hahaha

 

Well, unless it gets sent out today (day 11), I will be pass that by Monday or so. Fedex has no idea so there is really no point of refreshing the Dell site.

Thats messed up. The bad part of it is, customer care doesn't even know anything other than the stuff they usually make up. Nothing on Fedex either?

I don't mind Dell, in fact thats what I recommend to people at times. However I just hate they way they do things - like production/shipping.

...which tells us nothing really.

 

After 9 business days, my order status have just changed to "shipped".

That is your fault, it barely takes any effort to get it upgraded for free to NBD, that is what I did lol
