Do we have to call to get the tracking number or it will be updated later on my order details ?

 

I ordered on the 17th so I probably have quite a bit of time to wait. I guess I suck at haggling with the rep since I got 7 days as well. Though I don't have any clue as to how it could possibly take 7 days in U.S. and just assumed that it would be closer to standard 3 day shipping. I was thinking of calling up after day 10 since I'm already in production and telling my rep that I need it asap for a school CAD presentation or something before June 1st to get NBD. I'm open to any other suggestions.

It is the customer service rep who calls to follow up on the sale

is yours coming from texas too? purolator told me it usually takes a week from usa to canada.

I just called customer service and it is shipped by Purolator to Canada.

 

Yeah, I just called them and got the tracking number.

 

With my Order Number, i have found my PIN # on Purolator website.

finally it is shipped after 17 days!

I am in waterloo, ON so I guess PUROLATOR is the carrier dell uses for canadian orders.

 

Well my rep just called me and claimed that their system for tracking all this stuff has been having some sort of back-end problems and that is what has been causing all of the confusion.

He seemed pretty sure that I would receive my laptop on Monday or Tuesday....

I was given the same speech as well, but Fedex has no idea still - so for me I highly doubt this is the case.

ordered, may 6. changed to SHIPPED today, May 20 to Canada. So who knows how long it will take to arrive. I'm guessing late next week.

 

Gives me hope. I have been having the exact same problems as you(we prob ordered from the same rep); and have been about 6-12 hours behind you on the status changes.

Don't want to get your hopes down but ... Fedex don't deliver Saturdays or Mondays unless you have Saturday Delivery

i actually have a Sony Xperia Play sheduled for tomorrow on Fedex but i now before they did this to me with other shipments they just put on the tracking: on fedex vehicle for delivery but they update late night "exempt for delivery until next business day"

 

I should be the only one in this forum who doesn't care about when my ship lands. To be honest, I'm really eager to find out where my stuff is, on another hand, 16GB RAM & 256GB M4 are also ready for service. However, with a crazy schedule until next month, I know I won't have time for messing around with my lappy. So I rather have it late than just looking at it everyday and doing nothing ;(

Just called the number and I'm finally in the boxing stage. So hopefully should get it by next week!

 

mine took one day to get from texas to toronto! ill have it by tuesday next week. DAMN LONG WEEKEND IN CANADA!!!

 

I'm pissed. So I ordered my 18x on the 12th over the phone and specified I wanted the 2720QM for the processor. I was told I would get an email confirmation containing the details. No email ever came. Anyway, yesterday, Dell finally posted my configuration under the "order status" section of the website and it shows the rep selected the 2630QM instead. The build status is "in production" right now.

Of course I tried to call Dell several times today but apparently their "system" is down and they can't help me yet.

I don't want the build delayed any longer but do you guys think I should just get the refund on the processor and keep the system moving? Is it even worth it to insist on the faster processor? Will I notice a large difference in performance?

yes the 3ghz over the 2.6ghz is recommended. anything beyond 3ghz isnt needed unless youre going for record benchmarking.

And sure enough while I was at work tonight fedex received my package. Estimated delivery on Tuesday for me though. I need to move my day off around tommorrow, to do the long drive home after work on monday eve/tue morn.

I'm looking forward to ripping it apart to upgrade everything.

I went through the same thing, I stuck with Intel since I've been using a few of the G2's in my desktop for a while and have no complaints from them. I considered Crucial as I used to use thier ram ages ago in my college systems, top notch company back then. Avoided OCZ due to a bad experience with thier high speed ram ages ago that left a bad taste in my mouth with thier company in general.

 

corsair is the middle-ground if you want speed and reliability. just fyi guys.

 

From what I've been reading, the M4 doesn't sound that reliable with all the freezing issues. I'd rather not have to use a registry hack to get my new drive to work properly. There's no word from crucial on the issue either.


Anyway, my M18X is still in production. Hopefully it'll ship sometime next week for sure.

 

Corsair's Force 3 SSD is said to be nearly as fast as a Vertex 3, 550r/520w but I think that in the end it depends on how reliable the Sandforce flash memory is. After OCZ's debacle with their 34nm to 25nm SSD switcheroo some people have had a bad taste of that company so this would be a golden opportunity for some crazy numbers with better reliability.

 

Dell shows my system as SHIPPED. No tracking data available yet.

I keep posting this link as it seems that this drive might be promising and I am strongly considering it.

I woke up hours earlier than usual because I could not sleep due to anticipation haha

 

lmao i woke up naturally 8am to call purolator to see if i could pick it up. they wont let me. i have to wait 3 long days. kill me now . youre sooo lucky. id have to pay extra to have saturday delivery -_-.

 

Finally it shipped!! The site says the 24th, however fedex shows nothing. Will keep on refreshing.

took 24 hours to get from Texas to Toronto Depot. I believe this is express . They said normally it would take 5-6 days. If I had JUST ONE MORE BUSINESS DAY... I'd have my laptop right now . Oh well.
