M18x Order Status Discussion

My new order is with 6990m's. The 580m's were stuck in "pre-production" for over 12 days until I cancelled and re-ordered.

 

It was Dell's marketing move trying to beat the competitors to made the new M18x with the 580/6990 available way before they could even get a fair supply of cards, and found itself overwhelmed by orders. Just this morning I received an email from them that let me know my order has been delayed and they were sorry, rolf, as if I didn't notice it already when my order status was in pre-production for ever, and the shipping date was set a month later from the order date.

 

They just got me replacement & order statue , I need to wait again I believe I got 6990m for $150. Its still in production.

I'm slowing losing my hair to Alienware, I originally ordered my M18x, with dual 6970 cards, back on 16/06, and it stayed on Work in Progress right up until a day before it was supposed to arrive on 08/07. I rang up and they told me a part was out of stock and so it wont make the EDD. So I decided to cancel the order and re-order with the dual 6990 cards as they had just been announced and were available to order in the UK. The new EDD came in on 28/07. I checked today the order and it said it had been cancelled, so I spoke to the rep and they said that the OS service pack 1 had to be re-ordered and so it was cancelled and would be re-ordered for me. My new EDD is currently 15/08. Near enough to 2 whole months after initial order, does it always take this long?

 

Yay In Production!!! I'm getting fidgety... I've been wanting this laptop since January...

When I bought my m17 R1 2 years ago, yeah, it sure as heck did. It was painful. Some people seem to get their machines pretty quick at times though, so here's hoping.

Lol I got my call yesterday saying my 6990 went into production. Wonder what happened at dell. I am guessing ... new SB software installation or something ?

Meh, going to be a great couple weeks when these things hit ... wish we had some glimpses at the 6990s, the 580s are lookin good so far.

BTW I didnt get the EPP 2% off they told me the two discounts can not be combined. but it seems the price is a lot cheaper compared to that if you configure the same online and times 75%+the 8.75% tax. I dont know why. JUST FYI

 

AS dell online implied the system is subtotal $3804. but mine is sub $ 2740 without the 2% EPP after discounts. You can calculate the real discount will be around 28%. I am just confused how much is the dicount for real.

 

Yay, my system actually made it "In Production" I can finally see the order details on the dell website. I guess my rep was not feeding me bull after all.

 

Delayed till August. So currently seems that there is a month lag in ordering 580 machines from Order to delivery.

ARGGGG, I HATE BEING IN AUSTRALIA!!! I want that 25% off. Well I did get a discount by going though HIDEVOLUTION but I can't check my order status Man this is exciting!

 

Yay, my order has finally moved on from Work in Progress to In Production after waiting over a month and 2 cancellations. Can anyone tell me how long on average it should take from being In Production to actually arriving?

pooh! I was hoping it would be here next week, ahh well still time to wait and pull hair out/bite nails off...

 

Mine was placed on the July 13th and it still says "In Production" the only thing I can think of is the network card has changed
intel 3X3 to bigfoot 3x3 but is that enough to put it on hold??

 

If that's the reason, I'd be more than ok with waiting a little longer.

As it stands I'm getting nervous. It's supposed to ship today to arrive by the 26th. I'm not too sure that's going to happen but that's what I was told since last week. Where are these things assembled? Because I don't see how it can get here by the 26th with 7 day shipping.

 

I just found out that the i7 Extreme core is out of stock and no ETA

I must've got lucky. I ordered mine yesterday with the 2920xm and it's currently "In Production" with no signs of a delay.

 

Thats what mine says "In Production" with no signs of a delay I had to call to find out what the hell was going on.

 

My order date was 7/15 and the website says in production, however the phone number says order is being processed. Ugh, which one is right? There is no EDD yet.

 

My 2720 powered M18x took 7 days from order to receipt in UK. UPS tracker showed weird route from China to Germany and back via Korea and other places but cannot complain about the speed.

 

Damn it! Between the 580ms and the 2920s Dell is seriously starting to peeve me. I ordered 7/11, talked to a rep on Tuesday and was told that it was scheduled for shipping on the 21st to arrive by the 26th. It's still "In Production."

For the record, my rep told me "In Production" just means the order went through and you were charged, and it has 3 stages -> 1) sit at the warehouse waiting for pieces to arrive 2) be put together and tested 3) wait for shipping to be confirmed.

If they're out of stock we're all probably just in stage 1 of production.

I want my laptop!!

 

For what it is worth, mine is showing as in Production with an EDD of 7/29. I orderd on 7/18.

 

Ok guys prepare for your minds to be blown.

I ordered my m18x on june 27th and the original delivery date was july 15th.
Delivery date was updated to july 20th and it stayed there for a while....
Well here I am, july 22nd and no laptop, so i go to the website and check my order status: hmm... still "In Production"? Then I notice an A-bomb...estimated delivery date is SEPTEMBER 20th. I see red. I call Dell. I ask if the website is right. They say yes. I say !@#$ YOU! They say "I so sorry, you need to cancel and reorder with different OS, we having issues with windows 7". I say !@#$ YOU! I will NOT wait 3 months for my laptop and I WILL NOT cancel and reorder! They say "I so sorry sir, please don't hurt me, I will expedite order and call you with details on monday."

If I don't get some REALLY !@#$ing good news on monday I'm going to cuss my way to CEO Michael Dell...

Anytime in September is not good, I really don't think it will be that long or they would pull it from the website. because for every order that is canceled is a loss not only the sale but the time and money wasted making the sale then have to credit the money back.

As for the OS being a problem that just them pulling your chain has hard as they can! just remeber there not at the plant, they don't talk to the people at the plant, there just job is to shut you as fast as they can get to the next call.

 

If they say any time after 5 August i'm saying !@#$ dell and canceling and NOT reordering

 

Call and talk to a supervisor! Tell them "I paid X,XXX.XX! what in the world are you guys doing over there" if he can't give the answers you want then ask to talk to his supervisor and bring up "How/Are you going to compensate for the time I'm waiting???"

I'm thinking it might be the first week of August! I hope...

But I will call every other day because they will get it done just to get me to shut-up.

 

I've heard of some delays due to them changing from Windows 7 to Windows 7 with SP1. In fact, my rep told me that just a few days ago. I didn't really believe him (usually never do), but now I kind of wonder if that might be true.

Well i just checked my order this morning via online dell it was showing work in progress and noticied they didnt included the Killer Wireless card. We changed this order like 3 times already so it was just a reprocess. Now i was just about to ring them about the a killer and noticed the status changed from work in progress to manufacturing build complete. (i'm guessing its too late to add or remove etc)

Is this too late to change or can i request dell to just send me the killer wirless in the mail as i dont want to wait another 3 weeks for a new order.

 

Yay, just checked my order and it says that it has been shipped! So hopefully it will arrive earlier than expected. (August) Anyone any idea how long it takes for it to ship to the UK? I clicked the tracking info button, but it says that UPS could not locate the shipping details! (I hope this is just because they haven't gone live yet, or something) Getting very excited, but not here second half of next week, so crossing fingers it arrives before Wednesday.

I ordered mine same day as you. My EDD is 5th Aug. It still says work in progress. That's disappointing. Happy for you though mate
