M18x Order Status Discussion

Yep, just (im)patiently waiting.

 

Cool, just checked again and it has now gone live, it says it should be delivered on Monday. Very excited, gonna be a couple of sleepless nights!!

Hope yours comes too Crabeye, I've ordered 6990's by the way. But I am not big on doing benchmarks, I just want it to be able to play my games!

 

Yeah, that's a bit crappy.

When I was thinking about ordering I noticed that Dell did a "buy now pay nothing 'till Aprill" deal, but the finance was through a company call Creation Finance and not Dell.
After doing a bit of research I found out that Dell doesn't get paid from the finance company untill the machine is delivered and (to qoute the lady from Creation) "the customer is totally satisfied with the product".

So it makes sense that Dell would fast track the finance orders through.
Even if you have the cash to pay up front it seems better to go the finance root. All you have to do is pay the full amount a couple of days after delivery.

 

Just checked, should arrive Monday between 9 and 6

 

$HIT!! mine changed in the space of a few hours from work in progress to built and now is showing shipped ready for del Monday! phew!! So much for trying to change my wireless card on Monday now as Dell is not availble to talk too on weekends!!

 

Wow, that's fast. Our 580M configs will start arriving second week of August

 

Mine is the 580m sli !!Who knows maybe dell had their stock arrive (580m) and bang just sent everyones out in a hurry :0 This is weekday work myohmy!!

Really??? When I made the wire transfer on Monday I checked my account and the money had left my account. Is it normal procedure for it to go back in?

Edit: just checked my status and it has changed to in production. Hopefully it won't take long to ship. That 3 grand is begging to be spent!

 

WOOOOT! Mine has changed to manufacturing build complete! I'm from Australia too, and got the twin 580Ms and an extreme processor. EDD changed from 29-Jul-2011 to 03-Aug-2011. They are coming people!

 

Question: a friend put in an order on the morning of July 12. I put in an order for the exact same config on the same date (a bit later than he ordered). Both our orders went to production with an EDD of 7/25. Mine shipped Friday, his EDD was updated to 7/29. What's going on here? Can he cancel his order since they eff'ed up the production?

He already reached out to Dell to ask why the delay, but they couldn't answer him. He's now asking (jokingly) we trade orders since it's "not fair. I agree the situation is BS, but can't wait to get my new machine tomorrow

 

I placed my order on the morning of July 12th; it went to In Production that same day. Today it's still In Production. I'm getting impatient, to say the very least. EDD is the 28th. I had no special parts that would warrant an order delay.

I think I'm going to call them and see if they can tell me what the hell is going on.

 

You can call and ask but remember, be nice. You want a machine built "right" and with care, not thrown together and stuffed in a box.

They told me the extreme cores where out of stock! As always lies.

It would also help if people would say where there laptops are going so we can get an idea of what's going on. It seems that UK customers are going to be getting there's this week And Australia too! As far as I can tell the US is on standby.

 

I wish that was true. All made in china then shipped all over the world. Makes me worry about them doing a crappy job putting then together.

 

Hi guys. I guess I found the perfect place to vent. I ordered mine on 7/2 with an original DD of 7/20 (ground shipping). I got an email saying it was delayed 'till 8/1. I immediately called and made up a story about why I needed it before the last weekend in July, and they upgraded me to next day shipping and said they put me to the front of the line. So far I'm still "In production". I've got the extreme cpu and the Nvidia 580's, both of which people here have said caused delays. This is driving me crazy! Anticipation is half the fun, but now I'm getting very impatient. I'll keep you all informed of my progress. I live in Washington State, USA so we can see how the US stacks up with AU and GB.

Finally! Shipped!

So, I placed order on the morning of July 12th, it was shipped July 25th. EDD right now is the 27th. Woohoo!

 

Oh cruel fate, why do you mock me! My m18x (ordered on 7/12) was supposed to arrive today, but FedEx tracking just updated that there was a delay... I won't be getting it until tomorrow.

Question: I'm thinking I should have ordered the internal wireless receiver (both for the laptop and TV). Does anyone know the part #/name or if I can find it elsewhere to buy?

 

What does your Dell Order Status page say is the EDD?

Fedex says my EDD is tomorrow, but Dell's order status page says the 27th. I think Fedex's isn't as accurate.

 

The EDD on my order status is in line with FedEx's delivery estimate: both read "7/26".

FedEx status says it's currently in Nashville and I'm in NYC so it looks correct for a 1-day delivery of tomorrow.

 

My EDD is still listed as 7/29. We will see.

 

It's all BS, Dell is full of it. Mine just switched to "Shipped" this morning, so I called FedEx and they said the shipping label/request was created on the 22nd (a day later than what was supposed to happen) but they haven't even scheduled for it to be picked up. It's apparently being picked up in Jersey so a NYC delivery by tomorrow (EDD) is possible, but unlikely.

I spoke to a Dell rep (in India) and told them it was supposed to be delivered tomorrow. She said it's shipped today and should arrive shortly. I told her no it hasn't I just spoke to FedEx and they said you haven't even scheduled a pickup, she started going on about a delay and because of it it might not arrive on time etc. 1 day later really shouldn't make that much difference between me getting it tomorrow and getting it next week, nor does it explain why the status on the website, if the order wasn't even put in until the 22nd, didn't update beyond the 26th or ever give an indication there was a delay. It also doesn't explain why it currently says EDD: 7/26 (Updated). How updated are we talking? Because that's either yesterday or today.

What's great is as I'm typing this I recieved an email from Dell saying my order has shipped.

I suggest you call whoever is delivering your machine to get some real info, then call Dell and call them on it.

This is especially frustrating because I need to take a day off from work to recieve the darn thing, so I need to know accurately and reliably when to expect it. I'm not taking any chances with a $4,500 piece of hardware.

Ideally FedEx will come through and deliver tomorrow.

The worst part is I'd rather get a simple "I don't know" than a bunch of contradictory BS that makes me think they have no idea what they're doing.

I forgot to mention, chick said, "FedEx says 'Initiated,' so you could call back in like 4 to 5 hours once they've updated and we'll have a better idea." So the only way for you to know what's going on in your company... is to check the website of a different company? Which I could do myself? That fills me with confidence.

Good. People are starting to get their new machines now. I'm eager as hell to see how the 580mSLI compares to the 6990mXF

 

Up till today, my order was "in production" with an estimated shipment date of 01/01/0001. So I emailed my rep, and she replied back that it has been shipped, and sure enough, it has. In any case, ordered July 13th and will be delivered on the 26th! Alas, I will not be home till Wednesday or Thursday.

 

I called Dell today to try and get some specific information on what was holding things up, and she told me that it's finished and is waiting for pickup for overnight delivery. So far my status still shows "in production". I'll let you know when/if it updates. I ordered the Nvidia cards, so this seems to confirm the prior post about the 580's finally shipping. YES!


Ordered 7/2/2011 with original DD of 7/20, delayed to 8/1 before free shipping upgrade to overnight.

Mine as well, pretty much the exact same config as yours. I was getting uneasy about the delay, since the EDD was in 2 days and it was STILL in production? So I assume it'll ship out tomorrow?

Just reached 5 posts lol, specs in my sig. I paid $2703 before taxes, $3054 after. Got it also on the Dell Canada error "event" day, but I ordered online because it was 1 am and I was afraid they would fix the error the next morning. Probably should've called the next day though to reduce some RAM and one of the HDDs and get some warranty... ah well.

Your specs are pretty much perfect though, IMO. Can't wait!

 

Ok, mine shows "Shipped" and the Dell site says EDD of Wednesday, but the FedEx tracking page says tomorrow! Ordered 7/2.

But dont beat yourself up about not calling. I did end up calling my rep and I got a quote. Thankfully I did because the error was fixed like you figured before I ordered and people were reporting on the forum that phone calls from dell were coming in saying they made a mistake and it was for the 4 series card and were cancelling those online orders. I guess you and a few more people got really lucky with no cancels. Also can you believe I wanted my rep to give me a better deal? lol. I tried the same thing with my rep to drop the ram to 4 GB and it only saved 160 bucks????? No way, kept it at 16GB. Plus I did end up deleting the 750 RAID and it only knocked off 60 bucks. What a rip. Then I got screwed 30 bucks cause my rep refused to honor the 1 yr complete care in the quote I got from him?????? He ended up giving me another quote one day later JUST like the first one but 30 bucks more and then he added the 1 yr cc warranty. I grabbed it cause there was NO deal like this available online or from any other rep I was talking to. I do plan on complaining about the extra 30 bucks but only AFTER I get my laptop lol.

Mine is out for delivery, but after calling Dell yesterday I came to work. There's nobody home to recieve it. Fortunately (unfortunately?) my gf's office has a broken AC and the temp is up to 94, so hopefully they'll close and she can go home and wait for it. I really hope so.

That's cause you guys can get upgraded shipping. In Canada it's standard delivery PERIOD. Believe me, I tried for 2 weeks to get it uPgraded. My rep even told me he upgraded me at one point until I kept bugging him about why does my order still say Canada standard? He then referred my order to a case specialist who informed that that it's impossible to get nbd delivery in Canada unless it's a fast track system that's already in stock in the Ontario Warehouse 
