M18x Order Status Discussion

makes sense... i got 580m SLI and my ETA is 10/6 so a week or so after they get the cards...

 

My ETA is 10/07 but just checked order status. It's "shipped" now. Although tracking number is not working on Fedex website yet, pretty sure going to receive it tomorrow. It's about time for early Beta BF3

 

Checked order status online y/day and it finally said "in production" after 3 weeks of work in progress while they waited for parts. So i rang up y/day to see if they can give me a more realistic delivery date than 29/1/2011?? which it still says on the website.

Apparently it's not in production at all there "still" waiting on the motherboard, which i find amusing as the past 2 calls i've made i've just been waiting on the chasis and no other parts. I told them that if i do not have this system by mid-next week(I leave the country next friday with work) i am cancelling my order, at which point they said there is nothing they can do as it was prioritised last week.

The most incredible part was that they still claim i will have it on the 29th??? It's not even been built yet. I will eat my own hat if this system turns up on the 29th.

 

interesting, my setup is VERY similar to yours (if what is in your sig is the m18x you are speaking of). mine still says 10/6 and in production as of right now. must be a part or something they are waiting on... possible the chassis since you got red? who knows, i'll keep checking though.

i'd imagine you are going to receive it tommorrow since they next day it right?

 

Replacement system arrived today as scheduled.

 

Good to know mine should be shipped soon as it was ordered on 09/21/11 2 days after yours.

 

Spec is in my sig whodat5. I assume Black chassis would be the reason for the delay if that was the only different between our specs. Yup, my shipping method is NBD, and ETA is 3 m tomorrow 09/28 ^^

Just ordered this - got a nice discount as I phoned and mentioned I previously bought an M17 so apparently I'm a "valued customer". They said build and delivery will be prioritized, we will see!

Just a question, why didnt you take the 6990 instead of the 6970? The 6990 should be cheaper, atleast in sweden ;p

 

had dell fix an issue with attaching the order to my account and the rep told me that my unit is in the final stages of production so it should ship out in the next few days.

i'd imagine it was waiting for the 580m and then potentially the black chasiss.

I read that there's a marginal reliability advantage to the 6970 which is more important to me then a couple of FPS.

The differences between 6970 and 6990 are marginal no matter how you look at it. I don't know that its accurate to say the 6970 is more reliable. I had the first set of 6970 GPUs replaced in my first M18x within 30 days and then the second set had issues.

Now I have a replacement M18x with 6990 CFX, so we'll see if that turns out to be accurate. The difference in performance is noticeable with the 6990. I did not think it would be, but it's enough of a difference that I can "feel" it.

 

dont know if it is such huge difference between 6990 and 6970 performance wise.
I mainly took 6990 due to the fact it was cheaper. but also because it is a newer card, men which shouldnt have very long delivery time. Also if i get trouble with the cards it should be faster to get a replacement.

Do they normally take all that time to build?
I was kinda hoping once it went work in progress things moved along a bit swifter.

 

Typically, about 10 days to 2 weeks. There have been some parts availability issues lately. Some of the parts issues may be related to the ongoing set-backs from the Tsunami... that messed up the supply chain on a number of things, including computer and auto parts.

 

From my experience the EDD is worse case and they usually beat the date. My m18x beat the EDD by a while week, and the 7 day shipping took 2 days

That's 9 days from order to ship, only 5 business days though.

 

rep contacted me to give me my tracking number (they only created the label) but it looks like it'll go out today or tomorrow and get to me early next week. lucky for me the notebook ships outta NJ and I'm in NY? Will likely get it next day.

I got tricked into thinking it might somehow magically arrive today but called FedEx to confirm that it was only the label. Funny thing on dell.com it still lists no update so the dell rep was definitely able to help out to give me more info.

 

Yeah the Dell page didn't update until a day and a half after it shipped, which was like 12 hrs before it got to me. I was pleasantly surprised

 

Courier arrived today (30th September) with a package from Dell - Got so excited until I opened it - Was only the rucksack!

 

Mine was marked as "shipped" 30th september at 16:00 gmt+ 1 and new delivery date is 4th october instead of 11th.
And Ups have been very accurate in the past so got no reason to doubt that

 

This i lhave already experianced first hand, my wife and i waited 4 months for our new Kia Sportage to be built and delivered. the Tsunami destroyed stock of the ecu's for alot of car manufacturers.

 

Marked as "Shipped" this morning (4th October).

As its coming from Dublin I should have it later to-day or tomorrow - pretty much two weeks ahead of schedule

Mine has been marked as shipped this morning 4th October. Also nearly 3 weeks early! My EDD was 24th Oct.

 

My replacment shipped Oct. 2 so I hope to have it by the weekend and I am really hoping that this one will work.

That was wierd, mine took 2 days from china to sweden.

 

Just checked the shipping ref on mine and its been shipped "standard" what ever their take on standard is i dont know, what i do know is it was supposed to be expedited lol the ginsters!

 

The simplest thing to do would be to call 1-800-ALIENWARE and talk to them about it. It sounds like there must clearly be some sort of mistake if you were expecting and paid for something different. I wouldn't categorize them as being gangsters on the basis of a mistake.

Just clicked the link with tracking number from Dells homepage. It took an hour or 2 until i could see the package at UPS.com though. Didnt pay any extra for some fast shipping either. Might been Dell who added it for free since i had waited for a while.

I must be blind before i can see any trcking info i have to log into my dell account, i cannot see a track your order button anywhere.

And then when logged in the tracking fails to load properly i have to click track by reference and enter it in there.

Hey Buddy, see the big red arrow in the attachment, no logging in to Dell accounts necessary. You get to this screen by following the link from your Order confirmation that Dell emailed you. You only need your Order ID and Customer ID numbers which are on the Order Confirmation form.

Cheers fella, i suspected as much, mine screws up when i click the tracking number, it says currently un-trackable and then wants other details. I can click trck by number and enter the number.

It then presents me with a tracking screen with only, label has been printed written on it

Maybe you guys might know. I ordered a decked out M18X last night and Dell broke up the order into two orders. One for the M18X and the other for the accessories. One of the accessories (Battelfield 3 pre order) doesnt come out untill november so it shows estimated delivery nov 11th. Do you think Dell will break up the order and send my other stuff before the game comes out or will they hold the whole thing for that one item?

**EDIT**Oh BTW, the m18X shows delivery of 10-18 so Im not worried about that but I need the orion backpack that Dell put in the same order with the game.

 

Nevermind guys, my order just changed. The accesories should be here tomorrow. I guess they will just send it all untill the game comes out and send it seperate.

 

It might take the shipping co a day or so to get the package, then the info will be there

 

Any Canadians know how long it takes for an m18x to cross the border or where it is shipped from? I'm on the west coast of Canada and I've heard from one of my friends that the Alienware computers come from Florida?

I got an Alienware mouse and keyboard and both crossed the border within 2 days of being marked as "shipped" from the US, but so far the actual laptop is on day 4 without crossing into Canada? It still says "in transit in US"

Are the computers manufactured somewhere other than the keyboards/mice and therefore take longer to get up north?

EDIT: And... disregard... it was just updated about 10 minutes ago to say it is in Alberta and on its way to me.

After speaking with Steve's Dell rep and deciding not to order from him (was offered a 14% discount but as he said I had to agree to waive DSR rights as it was from Dell Business I couldn't agree) I ordered a M18x from the UK Dell Outlet, spec as below. I always thought its always a bit on the pricey side in the UK for PC hardware.

 

They ship by flight though Only went on truck last 500km from Arlanda airport to my place So it should take only a few days for them to ship it from China to your place.
