M18x Order Status Discussion

I'm never home either for drop offs so when they try to deliver they will leave a card with the info then phone Purolator and scedual a pick up at the depot I've done this 3 times

 

lol, you order a day before me and they shave 2 weeks off your estimated delivery compared to mine and they tell me they are out of stock....nice lol!

 

Thanks for the reply! I never deal with Purolator before and Im not sure if they have depot pickup, let's hope the depot in my area opens late or opens Saturday..

I was looking at the estimated delivery date on their different m18 models before I order, and I noticed the highest end model (the one starting from $2499) has the earliest delivery date (Janurary 24th) And the middle one (the one starting from $2199) has the lastest delivery date (February something)....I'm not sure why is that thou.

 

what makes it the highest end model tho? i think it just depends on parts as well as the fact that its just an estimation.

 

Yea I suppost so.. probably the estimate on that page is just for the different configuration..

I assume the middle one with 8GB and 1TB default config is the most popular, that's why it has the longest estimated time...
And looking at your config, you have the 1TB hybrid drive raid and gtx 580m sli config... that may be why its much later than mine since they should be a more popular choice....(?)

 

Well the raid config im doing myself....i have an extra laptop drive ill be using for that. The only thing i splurged on was the processor. I dont know lol....its up in the air when it comes to these things. All we can do is patiently wait.

 

My order was also placed in Jan 12th as well. It was in pre-production until like 30 hrs ago. What are the ETA you guys are getting for those who placed an order around this date?

 

My ETA is 02/15 however I ordered the 13th and I'm still in pre-production and no money has been withdrawn due to them being out of stock...(according to Dell rep)

 

Finally got my m18x woot!

 

Wait what is out of stock? Parts or the laptop itself? I hope it is not the HDD.. due to flooding in Thailand...

Ordered it jan 3 edd was feb 8 but it shipped on jan 11. The thing is beautiful the wait is worth it.

 

Yes, U.S. Army, I retired January 1, 1995. Stayed in 20 years and 27 days! Went to work for the Postal Service and just recently retired again. Not bad having 2 retirement incomes at 55. Now just play war games on my computer...lol! Thanks for the welcome and thanks for your service!

 

I'm excited! I originally bought an M14x but had high temps and the machine would not update the video drivers. Sent it back before 21 days and ordered the M18x. Should be hearing something any day!

 

When you made the purchase about how long did it take to fully process and your account to be withdrawn? I'm still not showing any activity at my bank on this purchase even though it is still in 'pre-production.'

I ordered my M18x on 1/10/2012 with the 500GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s hard drive. I called my rep and he told me that hard drive is out of stock and not being re-stocked. Dell is upgrading mine to a 750GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s at no cost to me. Additionally, they are putting a factory rush on the order. They already upgraded my delivery to next business day (NBD) and sending me a $50.00 off coupon for any accessory purchased from Dell. Still shows the estimated delivery date as 2/10/2012.

 

I did a direct deposit from my bank and it went through and was in production about a couple days after.

 

Hope the sucker gets to you soon honestly the coolest laptop I ever bought. Made my asus g73jh look like a little girl's toy.

 

That's pretty sweet, I sort of bothered customer care reps until a female rep got on peoples asses and they shipped it out like 2 days after. Which is awesome because I'm behind on my school work.

 

I was sent the name and number for a Michelle Mendoza, the customer sales rep my order from AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange Service) went through when ordered. I'm going to call her tomorrow and see if she can get it to me sooner.

 

Is that even possible?? Do you just mean that you paid with a debit or credit card? That's exactly how I paid and there is one page on my dell account that says pre production and another page that says in production. I'm just gonna sit back relax and wait!

I did a direct bank transfer straight to dell online. Just give it a few days and you should be good.

 

Just heard back from my rep. He said do to the shortage of HDD there is a delay in production. He also referred to my M18x as an R3. He has clearly skipped a generation. Lol

I talked to my rep yesterday. Because of the hard drive shortage Dell did a change order for me effective 1/20/2012 and upgraded it from 500gb hard drive to a 750gb hard drive at no cost to me. It changed my estimated delivery date from 2/10/2012 to 2/2/2012. I'm not complaining!

 

Not surprised about the shortage. The flooding in Thailand.. urg

 

At this point I haven't pushed for any upgrade or compensation. I just want it!

Couldn't hurt to call and inquire. The free upgrade is worth it especially with an earlier estimated delivery date.

 

Guess I got lucky b/c I have the 500gb hdd.

 

You probably took the last one lol! I was going to call when I had the time, plus I'm still in contact with my rep so hopefully I get some good news! If anybody has any suggestions on how I could push for compensation PM me cuz it always fails when I try haha.

I ordered mine with the 500gb hard drive with the intention to upgrade to a solid state drive. I already have 8gb ram waiting as I only ordered mine with 4gb ram. Anyway, I'll take the extra 250gb of storage for free!

 

I just checked my m18 status, now its at "Delivery Preparation" (Ordered Jan 12th, Estimated Delivery is Jan 30th) Seems to me the estimated delivery is pretty accurate for my case...(?)

Can't wait !!

My beast has finally been shipped. However, next business day delivery (NBD), that I was supposedly upgraded to, wasn't applied. Shipped from Ellenwood, Georgia on Friday, 1/27 with expected delivery Tuesday, 1/31 thru FEDEX. Excited!!!

 

Good to hear. Maybe it didn't show up as documented but it'll still come next day....maybe! Still waiting for updates on mine

Hoping it gets delivered Monday but either if it don't I know it'll be here by Tuesday. Been a long wait but I'm sure worth it.

 

I have an estimated delivery date of Feb 6th. I had it shipped next day so is it possible that I could get it before then, possibly this Friday? Also do they send you a tracking number once the laptop has shipped? Thanks for your help.

 

I would hope they would....however my rep told me earlier this week that mine was in the last stages of shipment yet I have not received any tracking or shipping info.
