Do not cancel your order. I got a confirmation that it will be fixed by the end of the day (the online error) and if you place an order through the 'deal' it will get cancelled unfortunately...

    "It’s an online error
It will be fixed by the end of today
I would recommend to not to place an order as the order will be canceled"

hmm this seems weird because I'm on the phone with them now and they're saying it is a valid option.
It sucks if it's an error sigh. Thank god I did'nt cacel yet.

I guess your option is to make another order (if you have sufficient funds) and if this goes through, you can always return the first system without opening it and get a refund...

If you are still on the phone with Dell, ask them what happens if you return the system without opening it?! I am sure there is a catch there... Be careful what you are doing, you may end up messing up your entire order :)

The simplest way to re-order is to just cancel the previous order then order again so that there will be no hassel at the end. Also If anyone wants to order an alienware the $1999 deal is vailid and it comes with the dual 6990m xfire as a base :D.

Why a senior dell reps tells me that it is an error and it will be rectified today (if you place an order it will get cancelled) and for you on the phone, the reps tells you that the deal is valid and you can go ahead with the order?!

Yeah its weird right? I called the online sales department along with sales rep with the supervisor of the sales reps sayings its a valid promotion. The sales representative said he'll call me back to re-configure my order after the cancellation is approved.

Fellow lurker here taking the plunge.

Wish I had stumbled on this place before I placed my original order on March30th. Took me 2 hours today to cancel it by phone after the defective wireless card build delay debacle, and another 2 to find the right sales agent with a good quote on a similarly priced machine but with upgraded 580s instead of 6990s.

From digging around a bit I was somewhat baffled by the apparent differences between the 580s and 6990s. Minute as they are and nearly not enough to warrant the $400 price difference, but still...

Finally - my baby arrived today. Ahead of the estimate. I would advise anyone waiting on the wireless issue to wait it out - looks like it was solved. Everything seems to be rocking out of the box (only connected on wireless G at work). Will be testing further on it when I get home tonight.

^yea i called and i swapped out/ reseated memory. Took out batt ect. Still not working went from 4 beeps to 2. Tech said they needed to send someone out to replace the motherboard and memory. He basically told me my only options were to return for refund or have a tech come out. I told him i found neither acceptable. I want a replacement but the department is closed so it will have to wait until tomorrow. So frustrating it went from epic, to fail in a matter of seconds

I must say it was easier to get a replacement unit set up that thought. It "sucks" to be in this situation but the customer support received today was good. Now to hold my breath once again until it arrives =)

    Sorry to hear about that.

It's a shame (IMO) quality control at Dell is slipping, however its nice to see Dell's customer service in resolving these issues is decent.

I definately agree, was poor quality control. I can be patient as I know these things are bound to happen. As long as they take "care" of me as a customer its all good.

They will eventually. I got upgraded from 4gb 1333 to 16gb 1600 ram, win 7 home premium to ultimate, added sibeam, upgraded intel 6200 to killer wifi, 6970m CF to GTX 580m SLI

Took 3 months of hell and frustration, but ultimately I came out of it all pretty happy.

well it looks as if somehow they managed to cancel my replacement order. WTH!!

I spoke with a rep and they stated it was cancelled due to a custom nameplate not being available. I cannot beleive this, Now I will not hear anything until next week regaurding this. I have never had such a bad experience in making any type of purchase anywhere. I will be talking to them about compensation at this point whatever that may be, very upsetting.

I was told by a customer support specialist that "Dell" as a company does not offer compensation, but they would however send me a $50.00 coupon towards my next Dell purchase. Wow, this leaves a very bad taste behind. On top of that they have no other information on my replacement order, just that it is being processed.

I am just wondering weather it would be an R2 and since it looks like they will not be offering 6990m's in that configuration and no longer will be producing R1's, If I receive a R1 does that mean that it is a refurbished unit? and what graphics options would there be.

like they already did passed your order, so it will be processed as it should be... mine just took about 8 days. Today im just at home waitin for my M18x. Im really disappointed like they confirmed my order just a day before M18x R2 launch. Even ive did asked them about when R2 series gona come, ive got reply No idea about it, so bad :(. Anyway will say may be i will return replacement and will wait for Dual 7970m.

Ok, so i finally received work from a "specialist". Im afraid my story only gets worse. They are offering a R2 with lower specs than i purchased and calling it an " upgrade". I ordered a m18x with the specs in my sig. There offering thw following:
    2670qm
    7premium
    A single Nvidia 660m
    A dvd rom
    And the basic wireless config.

I dont understand how they can get away with this type of resolution. This system is there base R2 model. Totaling 2k.
    My order was 3k.
I am so upset, i have invested 7 weeks of my time 3 k of my money serveral hours on the phone only to be insulted. Does anyone know of someone that can help me. This cant be right.

i can feel your situation, somethin similar happen with me as well. I have waited almost 2 months for replacement, in between keep carryin faulty M17x with it almost lost my all data cosz of Raid0 failed. Even tho ive paid more on top to sort out with m18x Now again ive end up with frustration.

With your case its totally unfair, you should get dual 675M (as inequivalent to Dual 6990m ). as my point of view better not to accept it, its totally unfair:|

I hope they take care of you Peter.
I too seem to be making some headway, I spoke with the specialist assigned to my case and he said that they would offer me equal or greater components to my purchase. Its just a matter of getting it put together. The other downside is that I see the preliminary ship dates are slated for 5/23 or longer. Thats a long time! Hopefully they can expidite my build and I receive it sooner. Im not sure if thats possible and I will not hold my breath as I have lost some faith in these typed of processes.

    ***Update***
So they finally submitted the order. Im bummed they are not offering the Killer wifi on the r2, nor do they have the crossfire 7970's but I did receive an upgrade.
I will be receiving the GTX 675m SLI's and all the same configuration I previously ordered except the WIFI. Overall I am happy with the resolution, I just wish it didnt take so dang long. He stated they would be expediting my order but only time will tell what exactely that translates to. I am hoping it atleast shows up before 5/15, thats when Diablo 3 releases and I'd hate to miss it.
