Sorry, when will they start arriving? I cannot get one through the IBO Dell site I am guessing because they are currently only for pre-order.

 

The various estimated delivery dates say end of the month but we think some may be in people's hands by the end of the week.

And the machines are on any pre-order from what I know. Dell doesn't work that way.

 

Crossing my fingers mines will be here by end of next week, before the 20th. Mines have EDD 5/26.

 

My EDD has been a steady 5/31. I hope to see it before but I'm not holding my breath either.

 

They generally don't update the EDD very frequently. For my M11x R3 I don't know if they ever updated it even though it shipped 2 weeks earlier. If they did it was after it shipped.

 

Well people are waiting for reviews and etc before placing there order. Yes, there has been one review that I found, but usually people wait till there are more. So there shouldn't be a high number of orders.

But the orders are coming in regardless, but because its a new system you have training, and not to mention the weight of the system itself. So it could only be handled by a several people at a time who have training, and those can lift the system.

So if I saw a E series get done in under 7 minutes, you figure it would be around 10 minutes per laptop. Now depending on how many orders there are and people to work on those orders, it will take a certain number of days, currently 15, to get the orders out. However it could be way sooner based on how many workers there are that are trained.

 

Ordered all my stuff in the sig today. I'm in the UK, and got 15% discount. By the way my dell guy is Indian and I had no problems with him at all.

 

wow you bought everything lol. with 2 monitors i would have just gotten quad sli 590 (desktop).

 

I need the portability and have had enough with desktops and the space it takes up under my desk. That space will now be taken up by my z906 subwoofer

(im a weightlifter, so that laptop will be nothing to me, also Ive got a m1730 as well so not worried about size)

Currently I have 8 Gb of 1333 ram and an OCZ 240Gb SSD to put in it.

 

I hope other people have told you, you can get the bare minimum hard drive, wireless card, and memory and put that stuff in for a BETTER desktop. The SSD's they use aren't the best, at that price get the new Vertex 3's, buy the 6300 wireless card on newegg, and get like 16gb of HyperX memory that is better and cheaper, my 2c.

 

yeah i already know that, but i want everything in with the 4 year next day hardware and 4 year accidental cover that i got, plus the discount i got made it cheap enough for me to get everything from dell

 

hehe im in the same boat. for the first time alienware has the power of a 3Ghz sandy bridge and 6850CF in a notebook.

Looks like quite a number of members are getting the 320GB HD option. Lets just hope we don't have a 320GB shortage like the 640GB one for the XPS series...

I don't keep a lot of important things on my base HD so the small disc space is perfect for what I need it for...gaming/surfing. Plus my server has over 8TB in a RAID 5. Plus I have some offsite storage (webserver) and cloud based storage - Carbonite

My current desktop has 2x 640 GB in RAID 0, I only use 400GB of that space (1.16T) and its been working since the last install (3/2010). I am going to break that RAID soon and just use the extra 640 GB drive for something else though.

I ordered on May 7th. They said it would ship somewhere between may 27th and June 2nd what the hell. I'm having dreams about it. Anyhow my rig is not so impressive, but better than most regular laptops.

M11x is Compal, I am hoping the M18x is Flextronics although it may also be Compal - wont know until one ships

 

I have a question for you Alienware guys. I bought the m18x. Is the video slot closed ? Or can I at a later time pull the current card, and upgrade to a better one ? Like is it a lowprofile pcie ?

 

Your rig is awesome, M8! Not everyone needs/wants the dual GPU power. I also went with the basic CPU and the only reason I upgraded to the CF was the ridiculously low price +150$ from the 460M to 2x6970M.

Of course you can upgrade later on. AW uses standard MXM.

Yup, my rep said the same thing - up to 15days for the build time. He's still optimistic about my EDD though.

 

Thanks for the reply Im happy to hear that. I dont really play many games. I play Quake Live all the time, and older ID software games. I do want to try some of the games out from the last few years. I think this will handle it.

I must give you credit for being brave. If I had an overclocked processor, I would of went for 2+ years worth of warranty in fear of it breaking at some point.

On a related note, after 2 cancellations, I finally ordered the exact rig i've been looking for. June 6th seems so far away.

 

I wanna see how it works in first year before making a decision for purchasing an extend warranty. Same here lol, this is my 3rd order.

STILL in production..ugh! I was hoping the turn around time would be in a week but looks like it'll be a minimum of 2 weeks before I get it. EDD is 5/26 (ship on 5/24) so it'll probably be cutting it close.

 

I'm just hoping these ship the same way the m11x R3 did, I had 7 day on that and got it the day after it shipped. Probably not going to get that lucky twice though

 

My revised order went in today. I'm sure you will have worked through all the kinks before mine comes in. Throttling etc.
