So stock for stock what are the differences between CF6970 and 6990 given same CPU? Has that been established? Early predictions were 25%

Hmmmm seems like more? Maybe I am not pushing My OC enough. I think I am doing 850/1050 and only getting like 7400 3dmark11. Maybe my 2720 is holding back....
Stock clocks are 6400ish all sliders to the left...

Ok ... for a little bit of the process.

Driver: 11.7 (haven't installed any CAPs)
Room temp: quite cold, its the room with my AC in it, set to 62 F
    OCing Prog: Sapphire Trixx
Clocks: as I noted 870 Core 1200 Mem.
Fan Control: HWinfo64, Fans set to max
Other Mod Programs: Game Booster (this adds a few points about 100 last I checked, at least on my system, on others with lots of RAM and CPU power, it might not)

The process: HWinfo64 WILL LOCK your computer, BUT, you can get off 1 run on every boot.

I reboot the computer, exit Alien FX, Start HWinfo64 and crank the fans to max, turn on my Overclock settings with trixx, then run Game booster. Wait a few seconds for the fans to get the system as cold as possible, then run 3dMark 11.
I do not run anything else, including GPU-z. On some screen shots I have turned it on afterward just to log my Clocks although Trixx would have done this as well I suppose.

You can not run another bench after your first one, 3dMark11 Simply hangs, you have to reboot. However, HWinfo64 will make your reboot hang as well. So you have to hard power off. Then restart the process and up your clocks a little.

Hope this helps some peoples out there... Its annoying and takes forever to have to shut down and reboot between runs .. especially when pushing your limit when the runs fail on you ... but there it is.

Those reboots and taking forever....that is where an SSD comes into play, not for the benches but the constant rebooting that benching and overclocking requires haha

John, mine is hanging at 3.9 for like 2 seconds then dropping to 3.8 :( All multis are set to 42

I am also hanging in the high 80s low 90s with room temp cooling (I have the 2 pipe heatsink from dell stock)

By chance, did you remember to set Crysis benchmark to use Vista SP2 compatibility mode? If I don't do that it either will not load or crashes.

Why you think it is limiting us? Temps? Throw that SS on there and find out for us :D

Nvm....I see now, it is TDP, we are hitting that 80W limit in the bios with 3.8

Update: damit.....actually drops to 3.6 eventually! (and 74W) (although this one MAY be due to temps....)

I've always had to do it, on my M1730, R2 and the M18x... funny how some systems are different than others. Anyway, BDRacing was hitting 100FPS with his system... Here's the run I just finished.

Not until we can increase the bios past that 80W limit, nope. Looks like we will have a pretty even playing ground on the 2920xm....everyone gets 3.8 GHz :(

Just like the D901c all over (might as well be)

So instead of sitting in the basement like a hermit....I am looking at getting another chest freezer, just a little 5.0 ft^3 one for dedicated benching lol - only $179 at home depot! I can afford that in like a month and a half.... (broke from just getting an engagement ring)
