Nice John you beat posting 5ghz I've been busy and reached it too. Seems 50x is the highest. I got vantage cpu to post that's higher but if you got 168secs worime then you beat me by 2secs. I got lots to post I'll back my claims shortly.Congrats John and Scook.

i beat 5.1 ghz a while ago. and your vantage run needs to be a full benchmark run.

scores to beat are over all scores and not half scores. half scores are for fun and personal bragging rights, but it's the full finished scores that get the over all credit. :)

    3dmark06 32492

    super pi 32
    wprime 32
    wprime 1024
    cpuz

all while only using 80 watts.

is what you have to beat. :)

    side note:
your 5 ghz was rejected so that don't count. sort of like my 5.170 ghz was. :D

Okay I see, I'm new to this whole thing as of this year. I have trial versions of 3dmark not full is that what you mean? Also i have 6970m not 6990m so I already knew I was dusted by all 6990m and GT580m. I never said I got 10k 3dmark 11 or 30kvantage I said vantage cpu and 3dmark 11 cpu.

Yeah I was mulling what you said over and that's true in apples to apples but your orange graphics card is different then my apple graphics card. Personal bragging rights or not for half scores is remiss of the point. When comparing the one playing field that is level is CPU. Then it just comes down to each of our settings, ram and hd although I am using the basic one not my SSD. I don't post my scores to say they are the best I post them because they show the capabilities of the components. Simply put my overall score isn't ever going to be over yours since the amount of shaders in your cards. So I am having fun and not participating in competing.

even the trial allows for a full run.
we know you didn't mean 10k 3d11 or 30k over all vantage. sorry if you thought that's what was implied.. :)

reason for whole runs is because...some people can pass one part while crash on the other. full bench means just what is required to submit your score or have it viewed on orb.(cpu+gpu)

but feel free to post your scores if you have the time now, but not that cpuz..since it's not verified...doesn't count.. :(

I'm gonna post some now and maybe you can discuss what to work on?

you might have full runs...you never posted them so we don't know..we are just a summing here...lol

    here is an example.
    30643 cpu
this is not a full run. and 10 to 1 says my cpu score might not be as high if i bench gt 1/2 cpu 1/2

not my guide lines...this is pretty universal guide lines for everyone.

and as far as pushing a 2920xm...your pretty much right on top of that list..so not a whole lot of places on the internet to look.. :D :D

I dont know why you cant use over 80watts. Try using extremely high tdp and tdc... 8thread is the highest watt usage

Thanks John seems its the sweet spot... going too much higher requires large jumps in voltage causing more bull crap heat. Undervolt is always the way too go. I'm posting a guide on my observations soon... just havent had time.

Hence I had slower times much higher than the 4.6ghz... there must be a key in that fact there.

Are you adding the amps in the bios menu itself... i am for that. Whats the highest amps and watts you've set in bios and Throttle stop or just bios if not using Throttle stop? Also the voltage seems to bring more watts under similar loads and speeds.
    ************
Try using one off the settings i've posted and run the same test.... do you get similar watts to whats shown?
    *********
some of my best runs I had my amps Higher than the watts which normally isnt necessary but it seemed to allow more wattage than the other way around.
    ***********
hey like i showed a pic of throttle stop log.... I had asked Unlcewebb to implement the voltage column and wattage column... now set more data and you will get up to 8 readings a second in a log for your review. Use that to see what is actually happening. My eyes and yours cant keep up with the changes every second our cpus make... in fact there's no software fast enough to show it in realtime.

I agree. Think we found a way in which the ES is limited - that or it is reporting wattage inaccurately

residualvoltage: What are you doing to cool your M18x? Since mine is currently in a disassembled/bare state I am very close to getting some DICE and dominating these CPU benches as the only person with DICE and an OEM that can go past 80W :)

Can you try to recreate my 32m wprime? Its 4.9ghz~ with 135amp and only 110watts set. Since its 8thread (single core may be 50watt max and dual may be 100watt range with 4core nearly 150watt peak) you should see over 100 watts. Utilize Throttle Stop Log function and post the cross-section that shows your wprime 32m run should be only a few seconds and peak into 100+ watt range. The throttle stop log I posted pic of at 151watt is a wprime 32m run with i think at 4.8Ghz with a high amps maybe 150amp set medium watts set but atleast 110-114w for sure. Speedy can you do this too? So set 4.8-4.9ghz for the test 8thread speed. I think seeing what the Throttlestop log shows may show us some clues.

I'm using the Zalmon-Nc3000 notebook cooler (not as effective as a Cryo with 3 120mm fans...) my laptop is completely assembled for all my benches except the battery only. Also I use a technique (writing a guide with a bunch of common overclock techniques) of using throttle stop to help cool my cpu before a bench ensues. Hwinfo I set max fan speed. So Scook you would be first dice and OEM... Since I won't resort to dice I'll have to stick to trying for closest to your scores on no dice and be happy I didn't need extreme cooling. Though it will be nice Scook to see the potential of the 2920xm when heat is non-issue. Cheers. I'm not using AC I dont have one... but my house windows stay open all summer otherwise my house gets to 90F during the day. Most nights when I bench the ambient temp is 65-70F.

Man, If I wasn't going out of town this weekend I'd hook you up with my dice pot. Mostly because I want to witness greatness :p

we are. max watts is about 90/1.3511V. but for 300 bucks, that's pretty damn good!

yep. and it's probably about to leave again.. :)

    this is 45x -120/120 - 130amps - 120W.
as you can see...it's no where near 120/110 or 100 watts...
best time i have pulled of in wprime 32 is 5.256.

    he doesn't need a dice pot... :)

Me too without a doubt! I want see it nearly match a liquid cooled 2600k. Bet if we had 12mb L3 cache instead of 8mb we'd see even better numbers.

Nothing has 12MB of L3 right now.....

Thanks for taking the time to do that test... I see what's going I'm sorry it seems limited... seems to not make sense though. Perhaps its how the system or bios is reading the chip? Could a bios mod trick system into thinking it was Oem stepping and id etc. ? Just a thought. Yes a dice pot isn't necessary to cream all of us with dice...

You know what I mean. Would be one killer chip having 3mb L3 per core. :)

@Johnkss I see the log and only other thing I can think of is your using lowest available voltage and my 32m run @ 151watts used much higher than 0flex could the flex paired with those same amp and watt settings allow over 80watts?

Could be when at 1.3511 4.5ghz will never use over 80 watts but at 1.4v maybe a higher wattage? So what if you set 46x or 47x and use a higher flex. You dont have to test again but if you feel like entertaining the idea its a thought... I was probably 20-25flex on that run since lower would bsod since it wasn't enough voltage for those 4.8 to 4.9ghz quadcore speeds. Up until I started trying high flex, high quad core speeds, high tdp and high tdc I didn't see over 118watts in my logs. Also if you have more data checked you will see more readings in the log from your run so instead of 4-5 during the run you would see like 20 from the run and know more precisely its peak wattage. Lol don't bash me if this suggestion is no good... Just hoping to see you guys over 80 watts. Speedy needs to get in on this. Speedy pm'd me earlier and said his ES can't go over 43x but can go as high as 100watts... why are these chips handling so different from one another?

Yup I have no clue why they stopped making the top mobile chip with the 12mb... :)

tried that. if you give to much flex, it will down clock the max multiplier.

The Core 2 chips had massive L2 per core in order to boost their performance vs the AMD chips out at the time. It worked :D

L3 in addition to L2 makes the need for all that space less of a concern. Additionally, there is alot more memory bandwidth than there was during the Core 2 days making cache hits less of a penalty in performance. Cache takes up the majority of the space in CPUs (IGPs excluded) and results in alot of the power and $$ cost.
