    Hey there Jonny,

There doesn't seem to be any change from the standard bios for the non XM CPUs. The bits that are greyed out are the multiplier manipulation bits. Everything else is the same as normal.
I can get to the performace OC setting however there isn't much settings that are really useful. Not that I can see anyway.

Worth a shot to have a look anyway. ;)
Looks like no 30k scores for me then. :p

Do you know of another way I can change or adjust the CPU multipliers apart from within the bios? That would be great for benching lol.

PS you guys should run the intel turbo gadget when doing a system bios flash/update. Watch the turbo kick in to crazy figures LOL! :p :p

    Cheers. :)

Not bad, your GPU scores are good and have a ton of room for improvement, I've seen 6990 hit 29k and a few of those, however your CPU is limiting your score. to that number.

Getting about 75FPS in Crysis 2 on DX9 and DX11 on Very High Settings. This is with the software throttling fix at 725/1450/1500 on P0 and P1.

    Nice screenshots

    [IMG] [IMG]

Still averaging 70+ FPS on Ultra Settings

    Are we having fun yet?

MSI Afterburner's video capture works pretty well. It cuts frame rate by about 50% while running.
Too bad the video quality is not higher, but it's still a pretty cool tool.

Now here's a blast from the past... some of you were little kids when daddy was benching this DX8 bombshell... :D
Look at these insane frame rates...
Just think what your Vantage score would be at this many FPS.

I can remember being excited about 12-15k 3DMarks and 35-40FPS was sick when this bad boy was new.
This was ahead of its time on eye candy. I still like the benchmark demo. Turn up the volume on this one...

    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/03PUrtucAfw?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0&amp;hd=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/03PUrtucAfw?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0&amp;hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width='640' height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Back in the day, MadOnion was the benchmark king. They later became our beloved Futuremark.

And then there's Unigine Tropics Demo v1.1... a DX9 beauty, which still looks pretty decent by today's standards.

3DMark2001 is fun to run. I think this was the best I did with a single 5870m and decent OC on the CPU. I probably did worse with crossfire. Is there any easy way to create a crossfire profile for it?

All the legacy benches are fun to watch. I wanted to try and get 3DMark 99 Max working. Didn't work on that much though. Remember I had an issue getting it to run.

    Hi guys.

Ok, so my 6990 rig is boxed and waiting for collection today, some of you will know of the problems I have been experiencing with my new replacement with 580's (as per my sig. but I havent put in my SSD or Ram so I am on a 320hdd and 4gb ram)

I am now using this system and whislt I know something aint right with it, I thought I would toss a few benches in the mix.....must say that I deffo think something isnt right. I havent updated drivers yet (next thing to do) but I have applied the "Fox Fix" (love that name for it! ;) ) and put the batch for stock clocks in the startup folder. (that actually works brilliantly, thanks Mr. Fox!)

Gpu-z reports vbios on both cards to be 70.24.2B.00.06 - the latest Dell vbios, right?

Onto 3dmark11 and I havent done ANY cpu or gpu OC.....P5500-ish? - nah....cant be right, surely? - I saw Mr. Fox's stock result on p333 of 6200-ish, so comparing that to my rig, seems that somethings off big time.

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2960XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P5581 3DMarks

As this is my first Nvidia system (ever!), any things I need to do 'cos that just isnt right, right?

The BIOS is correct, the score is a bit off for sure...

1- Did you do a sweep and re-install of the drivers?
2- Have you checked your temps?
3- Any chance you can also run Vantage?

You should be getting around 7k with that setup.

Im on the Dell driver it shipped with at the moment. I have the NV beta downloaded to install shortly (after a sweep/cclean of course) - any "best" way to uninstall current drivers or is it just the same process as was for AMD?

I will d/l vantage and do that one too....I did a heaven bench and it was 53fps / 1336, which also seems off, afaik.

Temps maxed at 63c whilst running mark11 and the core/mem/shader sensors in gpu-z didnt show any throttle down to 475 thanks to the Fox Fix.

Not sure about AMD or Nvidia:

1- Remove every Nvidia display drivers from the Programs/Uninstall (Display/PhysX, NV Audio/3D)
    2- Reboot
3- Run Driver Sweeper and check all Nvidia Display Driver items (Driver Sweeper - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com)
    4- Reboot
5- Install the new Drivers, I suggest you do a custom installation and remove 3D Vision and Nvidia Updater (unless you need them)
    6- Reboot
    7- Enable SLI
    8- Reboot
    9- Enjoy!

Gotcha's, I think. Uninstall all of the four below and perform a normal sweep/cclean from safe mode, custom install & leave out the two you mentioned, right?

Stock cpu speeds. Havent enabled OC in bios yet as wanted to test completely stock. I am hoping the Nvidia drivers give me some performance boost in 3dmark11....it will need to be a good 600pts over my initial test.....

Stripped out the previous beta and did a clean install of Verde 290.36 beta. No remarkable change in Vantage with new driver. The results are remarkably close to the 6990M CrossFire results from my last run on 10/01/2011. (The AMD was clocked a little higher.) Will test 3DMark11 after work today.

    Vantage: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M SLI benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2760QM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P25672 3DMarks

    Vantage: AMD Radeon HD 6990M CrossFire benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2760QM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P25730 3DMarks

    Very nice score Mr. Fox.

These cards have so much potential.....(check out the OC)

This is a quick run but CPU clocks at stock, I bet this would break 31k Vantage if the CPU were at least 43x.

Well, have updated to the same Verde 290.36 Drivers now and re-ran mark11 and vantage at stock everything (FoxFix 620 ;) ) and seems pretty normal I guess without any overclock...afaik.

Crazy to think that the Nvidia drivers boosted my mark11 score by such a large amount!

I think you can create a custom profile for 3DMark2001 using RadeonPro. You can make a profile for almost anything with that program.

P7141 is very good, no doubt. I'm sure you can do better with your 2960XM CPU, as I am able to achieve P7174 with my humble little un-tweakable 2760QM CPU.

Pretty good for a stock score. With my 6990s OC'd I only managed 26k GPU (old bench run with 2670qm). Should have my new system by next week hopefully, I plan to test both of them with similar benchmarks and see which does better although the new one has a slightly faster CPU (2720 vs 2760).
