Looks like a nice backpack. If you go with that one, please post a few pics with the M18x and joecait can list it as a confirmed fit.

    Mr. Fox-
I'm still scouring for a bag.
The brain bag I have has 2200 cu in and I don't want to part with it.

That bag I posted about has 2500. If i'm going to invest in a new bag I'd like it to be a significant size increase or offer something I currently don't have in the brain bag which has proven itself to be quite flexible.

Trying to fit the m18x in the brain bag even without any padding proved to be quite hilarious. It was like trying to stick your foot into a shoe several sizes too small and narrow.

Still like it Hoof? I need a smaller form factor than the Orion for a trip next week.

I wish the Everki Beacon was a bit bigger :/

I'm very tempted by the Everki Titan but its a bit more expensive, and its quite a lot of money to spend on a bag.

Just got the Slappa Kampus duffle dropped off to the house. I will report back once my M18x arrives later this week.

Guys, the M18X should fit in the 18" Kampus and Stovepipe backpacks, and we have customers who are using the M.A.S.K. backpack for the m18x.

Also our HardBody 17" cases will fit as will the KIKEN bags

    Hope this helps

I wanted the MASK but was told no dice on the size. My machine arrives tomorrow, so I will be able to confirm the Kampus in less than 24 hours. I might have to still get the MASK if it works. That bag is just sexy.

Let me know if anyone here uses the Slappa MASK for their M18x. I haven't seen anyone confirm it fits here yet. Kampus and Stovepipe listed as should fit in 1st post.

I can confirm that the M18X fits into the Kampus Duffle bag sleeve, however the flap will not close over it. I guess their idea of "fits" vs. my idea of "fits" is two different things. Fairly disappointed as I now have to buy another backpack :(

For what it is worth, I had the Dell XPS M1730 backpack, which I purchased along with the M1730. It was an awesome backpack, but it was too small for the M18x. The width was the problem. The height (thickness) and depth (front to back) fit fine. The M18x could fit into the laptop storage area only if the zipper was forced closed over the top of it, (and I do mean forced,) so that one is definitely not an option. It worked perfectly for the R2.

It was not the same backpack, so I cannot comment about the one you linked.

I've also got the XPS M1730 back-pack and my M18X fits nicely into it, no problems at all.

Hmm, how strange. I wonder why yours is different? Mine was such a tight fit that I refused to use it because I was concerned that it would not provide adequate protection for the top edge of the laptop. (It was actually bulging outward, making "pointy edges" on both of the top corners.) I was also concerned that the anodized finish would be marred from abrasion with the zipper. It was a very nice backpack and I would never have replaced it had my M18x fit inside of it properly. Perhaps the pad in the bottom was thicker or something like that. It's hard to imagine why there would be any difference between them otherwise.

I'm not sure what's different about them, can't be much but the zips in mine just go past the corners of the M18X without touching it or having to stretch the bag, weird. Still thinking of getting the Orion M18X Messenger bag though as I've no bag for my XPS now ;)

I don't want to take us off topic, but you still have a working XPS M1730? I'm amazed there are still some out there that are still functional. Since you do, I don't blame you for ordering the Orion M18x bag. The XPS deserves a place of its own.

On topic, did you see the posts earlier in the thread and photos concerning the issue reported by NYC Drifter with the straps on the messenger bag?

I didn't see the post but I'll have a look back for it. I like the look and style of the messenger bag more than the back-pack, but if the straps are weak/faulty, maybe I'll give it a miss.

As for the M1730, it still works great. One of my friends has an M17X and another only has a desktop so when we game in LAN, he uses my XPS. Haven't tried anything really new on it but it's great for L4D2, Farcry 2, MW2, Payday: The Heist, NFS HP and other titles like these. It's got 9800M GTX SLI and an OCed X9000.

You're very fortunate to have one that still functions. I liked mine, but it never stayed working long enough to enjoy it. If it wasn't GPUs dying it was issues with the hard drive controller and refusing to charge. It was a very frustrating ownership experience, but I'm glad I bought it with the 4-year Dell Complete Care warranty because that eventually lead to my ownership of Alienware products as replacements. I still visit the **OFFICIAL** Dell XPS M1730 Owner's Lounge now and then to see what's going on.

Back on topic... The Orion M18x messenger bag is very nice looking and it's a shame to think that the problem NYC Drifter had with the straps might be common on all of them. In his case it was especially dangerous because riding a motorcycle and having the strap break and fall off during a ride would be a catastrophe for the laptop. I cannot say that I blame him for returning it... not worth the risk.

I can confirm that it did indeed fit into this backpack, but I'd not recommend it to anyone else. It did not go into the internal protective sleeve of the rear compartment, but on the outside if that makes sense. Zipper was a struggle to close but once in there it didn't budge. With it going outside the protective sleeve the bottom of the laptop was exposed to bumps when placed on the floor. Still, it made it through a 26 hour flight/airport wait and will always suffice in a pinch.

Dang, those are inexpensive and look good. If I knew the M18x would fit for sure I would buy one. This is perfect for added protection inside of a backpack and for simple storage around the house to keep out the dust, etc. If someone has one, please speak up... maybe post some pics.

Edit: never mind... just saw the dimensions and ordered one from Amazon. The one that sell for $9.99 is identical but delivery takes a month or longer  so I cancelled out of the purchase and loaded the $13.99 product into my cart and it should be delivered by Dec 15. I'll post some pics when I get it. Based on the 22 customer reviews, I think this is exactly what I have been waiting for... guess I'll find out soon enough.

Ended up picking up the Orion M18X backpack... Had extra AMEX points to burn (swapping to a different AMEX card) and ended up paying 10 dollars or so with a 20% bonus they were running.

Doesn't hold my SF-19 Pad but it'll allow me to bring my M18X to my parents house for the holidays through all the airport and travel hassle. Due to the fact I have a small place I actually use to to store my M18X when I'm not using.

This turned out real stupid. I received a DURAGADGET 15.4" sleeve instead of the correct one. And, based on the feedback, I'm not the first customer that was a victim of the shipper's incompetence on this item. I had to return it for a refund and have reordered in hopes of getting the correct sleeve on the second attempt.

Good to know, bro. Thanks for the post. Does it have plenty of room for more things, or just barely enough space to get by for the M18x and AC adapter?

Please post some photos empty and loaded so we can get a look at your new setup.

Got my Everki 18.4" bag from Dell yesterday. It's brilliant. Excellent quality, fits all my gear no worries, comfortable fit and lots of padding front and rear.

Best of all, it doesn't scream "ROB ME" like the Alienware bags do.

Padding is lacking in the top and bottom corners however. I doubt the laptop would survive a drop from any height, but thats going to be the case with most bags I'd imagine.

    Highly recommended.

I ended up getting this sleeve and I have to say it fits nicely there is a little extra room all around which I like so the zippers don't rub against the machine, overall very happy.

Sadly I wish I had read this thread in its entirety before getting an Everki Beacon as it has to go back due to the obvious fit issue, and will likely get exchanged for a Titan.

    Happy holidays all!

Rfitwire - you must be a luck guy. I am very disappointed to share that I re-ordered this DURAGADGET sleeve and received another 15.4" version today. I got an RMA and return label to send it back to Amazon like the first one. I'm very bummed about it, but doubt it's worth trying a third time. Not sure why they can't seem to send me the right sleeve.

    Mr. Fox

There's quite a few products like that on amazon. I've seen them in various catagories from toys, collectibles, clothing, even appliances.

If you notice in the reviews that people specifically state that they get the same wrong product you can be assured that it will happen to you as well.
In some cases they must yank the product page and probably assign it a new product ID or clear up whatever database confusion they have.

Just talk to one of their customer support agents about the matter, clearly state the length of time, multiple returns and you might get some amazon credit for your continued troubles.

The last time I saw it, it was a lightsaber fx unit, they were sending out the really cheap ones when people were paying over 100 for the collectable/high quality. There must have been 20 or 30 one stars with many comments about continually receiving the wrong product.

I still have yet to use the insanely expensive Everki. Everytime I even think of taking it I consider the consequences in regards to weight (translate that to pain) and just take my vostro 1400 or IPad instead.

To anyone posturing about whether to get an Everki I dealt with their customer service after there was a missing accessories bag. They were nice, apologetic and shipped me one out without question.

I'm sorry to hear that =( When I saw your original message it had me worried at first and things like that tend to happen to me a lot. Needless to say I was pretty re-leaved when it was the correct one. Later tonight when I get my Titan Ill post some quick pics of both. I will be curious if the 18x will fit in there with the sleeve.

Are you using a Titan? I'm getting one today and really hope it will work out because I really liked the Beacon, and it was a shame the 18x didn't fit in there properly.

Just got my Everki Titan yesterday. This thing is massive but secures my m18x very well. The backpack doesn't look so big on me since I'm about 6 feet tall. Overall I'm impressed with the build quality and love that the laptop along with the powersupply fit in there, plus anything else I want to throw in there. Thanks to everybody here for helping me choose the bag.

I finally gave up on getting that sleeve from Amazon. I found the vendor on fleaBay and ordered it directly from the vendor over in the UK. I also ordered one for my M17xR2 at the same time.

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace [DURAGADGET M18x Sleeve] and eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace [DURAGADGET M17x Sleeve]

Each person is different, but Sentinel is onto something about the posture. I have a bad back and find that (both before and after surgery) using a backpack has actually been a lot easier (with less pain) than carrying a different type of bag (i.e. briefcase or messenger) that throws the balance and alignment off on the spine. I have my backpack loaded with all kinds of stuff (about 30 lbs) and it's a breeze with a backpack, but brutal with anything else. It's actually even easier than dragging a wheeled laptop case for me, as that also causes some posture/alignment issues.

I will try to take photos when I can borrow a camera that has flash.

For now though, Yes, it has plenty of room. With the M18x inside and the power adapter + power cord inside I can still fit three half-gallon plastic bottles of milk, and orange juice. Two in the second compartment and One in the front compartment. But this does not mean that the laptop will get crushed by all those additional items. It still feels loose, no space but loose. I say this because I did it one time when I bought groceries. It got very heavy lol, but I did not mind. I am kinda big at 6"4.

No doubt. With someone with a 25 year back problem the backpack is money. I have the m18x Orion loaded and no stress on the joints at all. Contrary, a light weight gym back is a pain in the butt.

    Dear All,

    Would:

    Laptop Bags by booq

    Fit the m18x? Anyone tried?

    Sincerely,
    Nappy

    Hey guys,

    Anyone ever try booqboa bags?

    Laptop Bags by booq

It is nice..doubt it will fit though..too bad.

I am actually looking for a rather CLEAN looking backpack that is minimally designed that can fit the m18x..any recommendations?

Right now..I am looking at the everki backpack and the orion m18x backpack as an option..but they are both kinda "loud".

Well anyway the bags i listed above by BOOQ will not fit the m18x as
they maximum dimensions are listed on their site.

I am now leaning towards the
    a) alienware m18x bag or b) Everki Titan bag

Both are not ideal as their designs are not minimal enough; no offense the alienware bag looks as if it is made for a teenager and the everki titan bag looks too much like I am going hiking or camping.

Anyone have any recommendations? Price not really a problem I just want something minimal and sleek that will fit the m18x.

PS i've looked through all the listed bags on the first page and i don't like any of them in particular.

I just bought a 19" laptop bag off Ebay for £17, quite basic but perfect for my needs. I only got purple so I can spot it easily but also available in black if you want a bag that's minimal.

Anyone have a felt cover for the M18X they're not using? When Dell sent me a replacement, it didn't come with a felt cover so I've been using the one that came with my 17R3. Needless to say it's a little snug.
