NCIX in First Markham place apparently has 1 left. So check that out it's $100. I'm going to be ordering it from their website b/c I'm off for school and no place around me has one. Let me know how it works out for you.

    hey TBLE

thanks! Better call them first me thinks haha..!

    Hi TBLE,

Thanks for the advice! I walked into the first markham place NCIX store and picked up the everki titan for $99 CDN!! Super cheap..

    TBLE,

I was a bit skeptical that they had the bag at first..and the other bags sold there (a 16 inch backpack) was being sold for $100. The reason, obviously, is that the sales said very few people have the need for a 18 inch laptop bag hence the lower than expected price. Hope you get your bag soon! The build quality is quite good and robust!

I do not think you can get the bag anywhere else for $100 CDN.

Nice I'm glad you got it, how's the laptop storage? Is there padding between the bottom of the laptop and the floor? It's a steal for 100 bucks can't go wrong.

    Tble,

My m18x has not arrived yet haha.
There is some padding at the bottom of the bag; it is lined with a layer of felt.
However, there are small openings between the padding at the corners. (only the canvas between).

However, I am unsure whether the M18x actually fits EXACTLY to the corner..i assume not.

Can anyone recommend a very compact backpack for the M18x? I'm thinking like a messenger bag that specifically fits the laptop (and a few accessories), but instead of just one shoulder strap - backpack style straps.

Anyone know where I am getting at?

Edit - BTW, I have both Orion bags (messenger and backpack). The build quality is horrible. A D ring has already fallen off the messenger back and the seams are coming undone for the backpack. Both were ordered from Officemax.

We've heard about the messenger bag having issues, but my Orion M18x backpack is awesome. It has seen very heavy use with business travel and has no problems with the seams or anything else. Sounds like you got a defective backpack. Have you considered making a claim under the manufacturer's warranty for either item?

I have, but I dread the shipping costs of shipping out two bags. I may as well cut my loses and invest in a better bag. Since this laptop is so bulky (presumably - haven't received it yet), I was hoping to at least reduce the footprint of the bag.

The messenger bag saw very heavy use during its first (and last) couple of weeks. The messenger bag literally just fell apart as I was gathering my luggage after a flight. Thank god I had all durable machines then (would hate to see what the fall would have done to my current laptop - Macbook Air).

For my bag, literally felt the seams coming undone while wearing, and since then, I have been rolling it on my luggage instead of wearing it as a precaution when I am carrying around 20lb or more worth of stuff.

I opted not to buy a messenger bag because:
    a) since m18x is heavy, weight being distributed on both shoulders would be much less stressful
    b) much less stress on the bag strap.

Minnus... did they (MobileEdge) already tell you that you had to pay the shipping to exchange it? That doesn't sound right to me. It's a warranty issue and they should send you an exchange replacement and they should pay for you to send back the defective items.

I have not attempted to contact them, but I have read their warranty disclaimer before:

"If, after inspection, we find that the product was defective in materials or workmanship, we will repair or replace it at no cost (excluding shipping of the product to us)"

I will eventually reach out to them, since it is suppose to be a 'lifetime' warranty.

I'm now also confused it seems there's only a tactical version for the m17x R3 - no word from a m18x backpack. But the m18x should also fit in the Orion - its tight on the edges but it's working.

A few days ago I finally decided to go with the Everki Titan. I tried to order it on amazon.de but they don't deliver this item to Switzerland :( . Conrad an German/Swiss PC reseller sell officially the Everki Line in Switzerland except again the Titan  . So the only solution for the moment is the Orion m18x backpack (I guess they have only the old not-TSA-version leftovers for Swiss customers). With the tactical edition I could have a alternative - I guess not

I can say from personal experience that the only M18x backpack made upto this point (the Orion) IS TSA/Checkpoint friendly

I will have to read into this new tactical line

Just bought an Orion to go with my new M18x, and from looking at the CES article, I think the new Orion bag is for the M14x- when you click on the Orion link in the article it redirects here.

Also, this- " The all new M14x has three case options which include the M14x Neoprene sleeve, the Orion Messenger Bag and Orion Backpack. "

So I don't think the old ones have changed at all save for the new 'Tactical' option with night camo pattern.

For anyone that's interested in a minimal case for their M18x that holds the M18x and nothing else, Staples has a Samsonite that works for $50. Samsonite calls it a sleeve, but it's made of heavy duty 1680D polyester and has a shoulder strap. The model number is 939315/Black.

I appreciate your willingness to assist. I emailed both the US and Canada site, and both consistently say that the 'systems' are completely separate - only US customers can order from the US site and the same for Canada.

I also tried calling Canada's phone order number, but instead of being placed on hold, it said something like, "All operators are busy. Try again later."

Yeah, I don't know what's up with Everki and the Titan bag. It cost almost double all over the US and is only sold in a few online stores. On Dell AUS and now the NCIX Canada, it's around $100 (98 at current exchange rates).

Is Everki based outside the US?

Was thinking of purchasing from NCIX myself. :)

If you manage to do it, please let me know and ask for the reps extension! lol.
After being told that the systems are separate, I asked if it was completely out of the question to place an order - and here is the response.

Here is one of the responses I received:

Not that it is out of the questions, its just unfortunately we keep both networks seperate, sometimes the reason we cannot have the item in the US is because we are only offered the item in Canada, vise versa.
Thank You for your understanding, apologize for the inconvenience.

I can't find it anywhere online, but my local Staples still has them. I've attached pics of the tag that came on it.

I have noticed that the local OfficeMax, OfficeDepot and Staples all have cases in store that aren't listed online. I got mine during a pre-Christmas 40% sale and I think OfficeDepot has 25% off Samsonite cases this week (probably ends today).

No, still waiting for the sleeves for the M18x and M17xR2 to arrive from the UK. It's taking a long time. :( I will post photos when they arrive. My M18x is in the depot right now anyway... unfortunately.

According to DuraGadget, it takes 15 to 21 days for delivery to addresses in the USA. I've exchanged emails with them a couple of times. I thought the US Postal Service was lousy, but I guess Royal Mail Service has us beat, LOL. Also, there is no tracking number on their shipments.

I went ahead and kept the small sleeve for the Inspiron M5030 my wife uses. It's a nice sleeve. If the larger sleeves are made exactly the same I'll be good with the quality.

I can confirm that the Everki Commute fits the M18x with a little room to spare. While a good sleeve, it does add noticeable bulk.

It probably won't fit according to the specs from ebags and the snippet from the first review...

I added the sleeve above as well as this Sony bag. Not sure if the Sony will fit, but says it's made for 18" notebooks.

    Mr Fox

Have you got yours yet. I ordered mine after I saw it mentioned in this thread. I got it a few days later but then I am based in the UK.
It looks like it will do the job nicely. It will be worth the wait when it does arrive.

I send alot of stuff to the US all with tracking numbers. I find that they often sit at the customs clearence center in New Jersey for a long time. If memory serves me right I have had some small inexpensive items sit there for up to 2 weeks. They always get delivered in the end though.

    Cheers

    MP :)

mpearson... unfortunately, no. DuraGadget has shipped a replacement order to me. The original order is MIA. I'm not sure why they ship without tracking numbers. My original order was shipped from the UK 26 days ago. :(

I'm glad to hear it will be worth the wait. I am eager to put the sleeves to use on the M17xR2 and M18x. Thank you for asking and for letting me know that you are pleased with yours.

First let me thank you guys for this thread, save me a lot of looking around for bags for my m18x, though gave me plenty to read.
I leaning towards the Slappa Kiken. Do any of you have experience with this bag or any other Slappa messenger bags? Ie...how is the padding around the laptop, is there enough room to hold the laptop with a sleeve on it?

I've been wanting to buy a messenger style bag for my m18x for a bit now. The only one I've really come across is the orion bag, but I haven't seen much discussion about it in this thread (I only skimmed through the pages). I've seen a few bad reviews online but wanted to get anyones opinion of it who might have it.

Is this a low quality bag? Do the straps break like some reviewers have claimed?

Some people have had luck with them, but I definitely struck out...3 times.

1x Messenger Bag - snapped by the straps.
2x Backpacks - the seams on the straps are coming loose.

I would highly advise against getting an Orion bag - but there honestly are not too many options.
